Yulara is a town with just about everything you need, in the Outback. Ayer’s Rock Resort is a large complex with varying degrees of opulence. Our stay at Desert Gardens hotel, which was very comfortable, modern, quiet and well positioned within the complex. I would have loved to have stayed here for two nights to enjoy the accomodation, maybe catch the shuttle back the the Rock, browse the shops etc. Our check in was a little slow, but reception was busy. However staff were very attentive and helpful. There were free guest activities but we didn’t have time. We didn’t experience breakfast as we left early for the sunrise, but the evening meal at Mangata Bistro was very good.
Rooms are very good - nice size, large bathroom, two double beds, all the amenities you need. The housekeeping staff are amazing and did a fantastic job with cleaning our rooms. They deserve praise for keeping the red dust out of the rooms! The restaurant, Mangata, was pricey, but good food. The entire Yulara resort is having a staff shortage though so wait times can be a little long.
We booked 2 adjoining rooms at Desert Gardens for 3 nights as we were travelling with 3 children under 6. On arrival at check in, we were told our rooms were 345 & 348. The rooms were not adjoining and three rooms down. They said they couldn't move our rooms as they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate any changes. They also said we couldn't cancel one of the rooms without a 100% forfeit of our charges. We paid $1700 per room for the 3 nights. The reception staff didn't apologise or offer any discount or help. I asked to speak with management. This was very disappointing and I explained to the duty manager that we couldn't put our small children down the hallway and would like him to see if we could move rooms. He said he would have a look and get back to me. He never rang me or got back to me. So we all stayed in the one room and lost our $1700. The room was below average, quite dated, no mini bar or room service available. You can get takeaway from most restaurants. I would not recommend this hotel.…
Firstly we paid $550 per night for 3 nights We asked if it includes breakfast NO We had to book for breakfast to get it at $30 instead of $49 non booking We asked at dinner if we could book breakfast NO we don’t take bookings 😳 We stayed in a hotel room which they did not service on the first day We asked them to fix it they said they would They Didn’t So no servicing the room for 3 days There was mould in the shower and we had to use same towels for 3 days No reduction in cost for not delivering on their promise
Recently spent 4 grounding days exploring Uluru and Kata Tjuta. It was pretty hard/frustrating navigating the website and making bookings before hand but this is what I wish I had know: 1)The resort village is far away from the rock. You cannot walk to it so book in transfers from village before you go 2) book Lights, sounds of Silence Dinner, Desert Awakening breakfast well in advance. Everything fills up quickly and there were no chances for last minute bookings of the good things 3) the seaway tour around the base is fun and you can cycle it too (just book!) 4) there are many free cultural talks in the village- well worth doing 5) the village and esp booze is expensive. Plan ahead. There is a supermarket. 6) the staff are so lovely and helpful once you arrive. Its just the website thats clunky 7) Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) is 45 mins away- great hiking there. Take proper hiking boots, poles and water bottles 8) there is a day trip to Kings Canyon- regret not doing that 9) it was freezing. Whatever the weather report says, add in wind chill factor. At least 5 degrees. Take thermals, beanies , gloves, layers and we used fly nets once. A truly special spiritual place. Loved it.…
Just returned from the hotel. Comfy bed and generous size of the room. Nice decor. But the pillows I had in my room was very smelly. I asked them to change it and they did. But I was not very impressed with such strong smell on the first day of my stay. I doubt if they wash the pillows constantly enough. The toilet facilities were a bit tired. My toilet was a bit brownish and the toilet fan was very dusty. It was also a bit smelly every time I took shower. Suspect some plumbing issues too.
We spent several nights in 2 stays. 1st room was very nice with a nice view on the landscape even if far away from the reception. 2nd : we had to request room change as the room was smelling and the room was very noisy . Room we finally got was much more better . Restaurant is nice, as well as breakfast. Staff is very nice as well . The location is good at the entry of Ayers Rock, There are differents shops near it. Nice choice for staying at Ayers Rock
We stayed here for 2 nights and the service was perfect . The room was comfortable and clean with everything you could need . The gardens are beautiful and well kept . The restaurant was really good with friendly staff and cannot fault the food .
Interesting stay. Rooms fine but not fabulous. Food fine. Other areas of the resort are great. Lots to see n do. Plenty of tours to go on and enjoy central Australia. We had a balcony room with a view of a lovely white gum only fir it to be chopped down on the second day 🤷♂️
A nice spot for a quick 3 night getaway. Rooms were clean but a bit dated. We had an issue with wildlife entering our room no problem was moved rooms at our request promptly. Dining was lovely a little pricey but delivered with service and food was delicious. Staff very friendly throughout the resort. Gardens well maintained. Regular shuttle buses between resorts.
