Stuck here in isolation - food appalling, all frozen chips with every meal, unable to get reception to answer if you ring them Dinner states will be served between 6-8pm One night it arrived 9.10pm Would never stay here again
A very comfortable, friendly and professional experience provided by the staff of the Aurora Hotel. The service was excellent, the staff very helpful and friendly and the Red Ochre Grill restaurant provided great service and delicious meals for dinner. The continental breakfast was a little sparse - very limited choice but substantial.
This is an extraordinarily haphazard place - in many different ways. Firstly, the design is confused and confusing and it's easy to get lost, especially when trying to find your way out into the main street which involves going through the internal carpark and then making your way through two little doors - and you need your key to get back in again, for both doors. The place looks and feels like different bits have been tacked onto each other at different times, and quite randomly. Even the room numbers are completely chaotic, so that room 1 is on the ground floor whilst room 5 is on the first floor as also is room 1001 and, I think, room 2010. I'm not sure what the numbering system is on the higher floors. More importantly, the rooms themselves, for very little price difference, range from the absolutely awful to the quite lovely. Booking and customer service is completely chaotic and variable. Online I booked a twin-bedded room with private balcony overlooking the River Todd. Instead I was allocated a dark and dingy room leading off a deck access corridor. On complaining (it took a long time to get back to the reception area) I was told none of the rooms with private balconies were twin-bedded and instead offered a slighter brighter room but this time with a view of a brick wall. Eventually I decided to pay the extra and take two rooms, each with its own private balcony or patio. And both these rooms were absolutely lovely! The person handling the matter was both inefficient and verging on the rude. She certainly had an unpleasant manner. Yet the receptionist on duty later had a very pleasant and efficient manner. She was certainly very helpful to me on several occasions. Management here should have a look at their hiring policies and also at the efficiency of their online booking system. On the plus side, this hotel is centrally located and is excellent value for money. We enjoyed our stay, despite the confused layout, and would certainly stay again (in one of the good rooms). A quick PS. The "River" Todd doesn't actually have any water in it - it's a dried up river bed, and anyway there's a busy main road in front of it.…
Priced the same as YHA which is around the corner, and you get your own bathroom which is clean Great service, clean room and bath, has AC and perfect location Staff is pleasant and fast, you can buy water at the reception.
I was at Aurora Alice Springs on 5th February 2020. The hotel is centrally located, and allowed me to check in at 12PM (check in was suppose to be 2PM, but my room happened to be ready). The room was as advertised. Friendly and accomodating staff. I had a good experience. Thanks.
