#15 of 195 hotels in Sydney
Travelers' Choice 2019 Winner
Certificate of Excellence
In December 2015, one of Sydney's finest examples of art deco glamour opened its doors as the 5 star Primus Hotel Sydney. Perfectly positioned in the heart of the city near Town Hall and emerging Korea town, this her-itage-sensitive refit of the former Sydney Water Board headquarters has breathed new life into an iconic 1930's building. With an exacting approach to retaining and reinstating the internal detailing, the refurbish-ment by leading global design studio Woods Bagot, has brought a sense of modern timelessness and con-venience to the space. The generously sized 172 rooms and suites feature lavish interiors, free wifi and contemporary bathrooms cre-ating an authentic and engaging experience for guests. With the Presidential Suite fit for the highest of digni-taries, the hotel is one of the city's most prestigious accommodation offering. The grand Lobby Bar is a haven for people wanting to relax with a touch of old world charm while the ad-joining all day dining restaurant, The Wilmot, brings high end dining back to the city with a modern, comfort-able twist. The New York style rooftop heated pool with sundeck is the perfect respite from the bustle of the streets below. From splendid meeting rooms to three dedicated boardrooms, the hotel provides unrivalled events and conference spaces. Hospitality is at the heart of Primus Hotel Sydney. The hand-picked front of house team has a strong, global background that brings elevated standards of service to Sydney.

Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

Stayed in an executive king room for our wedding anniversary. On check in the staff were friendly and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and sweets to help us celebrate. The room was spacious and quiet with a bath. Within walking distance of the Golden Age cinema, Hyde Park and bars, cafes and restaurants.

Breakfast was very poor with most things being stone cold with no standard buffet eggs available. So I ordered poached eggs which were so raw that I could not eat them. Housekeeping did not make up my room and just left message saying that I requested the room be left untouched, which was NOT the case. Seemed like they just wanted to skip some work.

I stayed at the Primus for two days as a solo travel between KL and Queenstown. From the very moment I arrived I was taken care of, and even though arrived many hours before check-in, I was clearly exhausted from my overnight flight and they gave me my room straight away. Room was large, comfortable, with full bath! Breakfast was fantastic. Wide range of food, and the coffee and tea was excellent. I also always appreciate a hotel breakfast that brings you a whole pot of tea. Wonderful. The location is also fantastic. A few minutes walk from either Town Hall or Museum Station. Loved being so close to Hyde Park, and surrounded by lots of restaurants and shopping places. When I return to Sydney, I will be staying here again.

The historical aspect of the building and the Art Deco features made the stay very welcoming. The deluxe suite was very spacious and clean and had a great mood. The bathroom is quite large and very clean. The only thing I found as distracting was the karaoke bar downstairs which can be heard through the thin windows. I stayed on a Saturday evening which meant music and yelling went until 2:30am. Otherwise would definitely stay here again.

I was here for a one day conference and it was a great choice of the organisers because the building is stunning. It gave me a little bit of a feeling of New York. The conference venue itself wasnt quite so good being much wider than long, but the lunch and snacks were sensational.
