We relay enjoyed our cocktails. Check in was easy with a qr code reader at the door. Can recommend the green lantern a blend of gin, green chartreuse, mint and lime. Service was friendly and efficient and there is seating inside and out. A great place to start your night.

As you walk in - you can't help but take pictures of the super hipster and funky decor. Super high ceilings and unique rooms certainly stand out. The staff at the hotel make your experience in the city even better. My partner and I visited Sydney for the very first time and were full of questions - the hotel team did not disappoint. They provided us with the best recommendations, from fine dining to finding the best street side pot pies. Definitely will be visiting here again.

After the seemingly interminable lockdown days, going for a short staycation at one of Sydney's nice hotels sounds like a great idea. Hence I chose The Old Clare, a hotel I've often heard about due to its heritage and location in the trendy Spice Alley / Central Park area. Apparently, other people had the same thought as I constantly saw other guests in the common area. The room deserves its boutique-chic status, with its exposed concrete, designer lighting, and the deep soak bathtub in the open plan bathroom. However, the mini-bar items and drinks are more of the airport hotel variety. The insulation is not that good, so with the room facing the Spice Alley, it wasn't exactly quiet until sometime at night (I imagine during normal times and on weekends it would be even more noisy). Until the end of May, I noticed that the hotel offered more perks such as a bottle of champagne in the room and early check in/late check out times. But in June, these were not available anymore. With the rooftop bar & pool area and the gym still closed, I felt that I got less value. And when I asked for a late check out, the reception was only able to extend it to 12 PM. At least the downstairs bar and the A1 Canteen were open and available for dine-in, but you can go there anytime without being a guest of the hotel. Considering all this, paying almost $300 a night seems too expensive.

Staff are very accommodating in person and via email Nice high ceilings, modern bathroom and TV which supports Amazon firestick. If you do get the breakfast package it's downstairs across the road at A1 canteen who are also very good House cleaning is consistent and thorough Great walking options to restaurants and amenities, spice alley is just downstairs and the Eastside is really nice if you're looking for a steakhouse. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel 🙂

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights In Feb 2020 . I’m a big fan of post war modern Furniture and architecture so we decided to give the old Claire a try. Our trip to Sydney was beginning of a three week surf trip on the East Coast of Oz. I mention this because we had 2) 9 foot ”Mal”, Surfboards and weren’t sure how the staff was going to react when we brought them to their lobby. They couldn’t of been more accommodating. He found the place in the stairwell to keep them for the duration of our trip and then called a taxi big enough to put inside when we left. When we checked in, we were upgraded to a suite that was the original bar. It was spacious and beautiful. We found the room to be very clean and the bed comfortable My only minor complaint was the translucent windows didn’t open . So being in the room for a longer period of time felt a little claustrophobic. Also , being the rainy season and not knowing what the weather was outside, we had to run downstairs to look before we dressed for the day. minor inconvenience. The interior of the entire hotel, from the rooms to the hallways to the bar downstairs and the lobby we’re filled with High-end art and postwar modern Scandinavian and American designed furniture. I own a store in Hawaii buying and selling it and even I was impressed. The hotel is by Central Station so very easy to get around. Not close to the water so if that’s what you’re looking for it won’t check that box but . The little restaurant across the alley was great for quick eats. And right down the street is the Alley with a bunch of different Asian themed restaurants that everybody loved. The rooftop bar and pool deck was nice for a quick cocktail before heading out. Overall the experience was awesome, the staff was great the location was good and the aesthetic was incredible. Would definitely stay again. 🤙🏽

Hey HawaiiModern, Thanks for leaving us a great review! Glad to hear that you were impressed by our aesthetic, location and rooftop pool and bar. The room you were allocated has many heritage features, windows included. While they're great for privacy, it's true that they don't facilitate a clear picture of what's going on in the outside world! Nevertheless, i'm pleased that you were left with an overall great impression. Cheers, Old Clare
