Although the hotel has good rooms it is very disorganised as regards bookings check in and checkout and benefits for bonvoy members. If your a Bonvoy member like me don’t expect any benefit to be acknowledged.

Hotel's Favorite
As you walk in - you can't help but take pictures of the super hipster and funky decor. Super high ceilings and unique rooms certainly stand out. The staff at the hotel make your experience in the city even better. My partner and I visited Sydney for the very first time and were full of questions - the hotel team did not disappoint. They provided us with the best recommendations, from fine dining to finding the best street side pot pies. Definitely will be visiting here again.

Hello shefalivyas, Thanks so much for staying and for the high praise for the team. Glad we could open up Sydney a little bit for you, no doubt there'll still be so much more to see when you visit next time. Be in touch, we'd love to have you back at the hotel. My best, Timo

Schmick, smart, stylish is all what The Old Clare is about. Well laid out room with plenty of style. And the Rooftop and bar with its cool beats is a hidden gem. A secret hideaway. The ladies on the front desk made sure my partners surprise bday getaway was special and nothing a bother. And Edison at the Rooftop bar just what’s needed for a place like that. Engaging, charismatic and welcoming and always looking after you. See you again Old Clare. Sean & Kylie!

Booked for a one night staycay as a bit of a treat on a hot Sydney weekend but was a bit underwhelmed by the whole experience. Staff were nice enough. Connell room was fine, perhaps a little more basic than the trendy photos on the website would suggest. Pillows and bed was soft and saggy, almost like a waterbed (though I was told this is intentional and many guests enjoy it, fair enough). No robes in the room. Room was clean but hallway on our floor and particularly in front of our door was covered in crumbs and debris when we arrived. Was vacuumed by the late afternoon, but not sure why there were crumbs in front of our door when the rooms are supposedly being left unoccupied for 24 hours between guests (recommend checking with the hotel to confirm if this is important to you). My main disappointment was the pool area (the primary reason we paid $350 for one night's accom). A notice at the entrance to the hotel states that due to COVID only hotel guests will be allowed to use the hotel's amenities. This was definitely not the case, with two birthday parties totalling about 50 non-staying guests in the pool bar. I also watched a couple of girls arrive off the street with a box of vodka cruisers to enjoy. With the current 4sqm rule in Sydney significantly limiting capacity, it's worth taking into account the possibility you won't be able to use the pool as a paying hotel guest if the area reaches capacity with outside bookings and BYO randoms.

We stayed one night and had such a fun time. The hotel is close to Central train station and easy to access by public transport.Wonderful to dine around Surry hills and Chippendale. Check in staff were helpful and housekeeping assisted us with our coffee making machine in our room quickly and without fuss. It was a 30 degrees plus January weekend and we took full advantage of the rooftop pool and bar.Such a friendly atmosphere and the bar staff Edison ,James and Dewan were professional and helpful .They did a great job ,as it was so hot for all the staff as they wearing masks. They brought drinks and food to people around the pool area. Our room was immaculate and modern,I especially loved watching tv in the huge tub. The plunge pool is shallow (waist height) and in full sun till about 2.30 pm.While people had children in the pool, it was very much a bar pool. I would definitely return.A wonderful couple /friends summer staycation spot. Thank you for a great stay.
