The room was so narrow, it was a 1-butt crossing pattern at all times. It was much less spacious than depicted. However, that's as it may be. We reported that the bed sagged to the middle & that the bath faucet leaked (onto the counter, floor, etc) after our first night. The receptionist did not seem to understand anything we were telling her. They did not fix either issue. On the 2nd morning, we complained to a different manager, who had to be shown the issues again. It did finally get fixed (they were, after all, easy fixes). But 2/3 of our time we had to put up with the issues. Otherwise, clean & well-located.

Very well located hotel. Walking distance to most of Sydney that visitors want to see. Useful shops nearby. Good value too for a comfortable bed and good shower. If I'm in Sydney again I'd be pleased to stay here. The very small single rooms are very small. OK for a one night stayover with minium luggage. Pay more for a bigger room for longer stays. It's still good value. However. This hotel does what it does very well, but doesn't do anything extra. What you get is what you get, which is fair, given the prices. One issue. I posted a complimentary review on Booking.com, with much the same comments as here. Given Booking.coms scoring system that came out as about 8 I think. I received an email from Megaboom offering me $30 and further discounts if I changed that review to a 10. I wouldn't do such a thing even if I knew how and am not best pleased by the offer. A black spot in an otherwise good experience.

This hotel is in the perfect location to all the main sights, train and bus stations. We used it as a base for a few nights. Overall, clean and functional. The only downsides: unable to open bedroom windows, hairdryer lasted 5 seconds before it cut out, in need of TLC (towel rail falling of wall, dusty extractors etc) otherwise, a good cheap base.

Hotel is located in the middle of the CBD central business district area. Convenient and easy to move around. To go to Darling harbour is about 20 minutes walk. Chinatown is also about the same walking duration. Shops are everywhere. Safe to come out in the evening…. Though hotel door closes at 11pm. Guest need to use their card key to access. Room is spacious. It has a safe and a mini fridge. Hotel staffs are excellent. Housekeeping also excellent.

The hotel was generic. The location was great, a hop, skip, and jump from theatres, mall, shops, trams, with a supermarket across road, and a hotel breakfast included. The room safe was on wardrobe floor, in the dark, low down where it was difficult to squash against furniture to get to it or see it, and I couldn't read instructions or see numbers so I didn't put stuff in it. Easy to get to hotel from airport train: get off at Town Hall station, follow underground signs to QVB past shops and then up QVB escalator, walk to far end of QVB mall. On left is York Street with hotel about 2 minutes away. Lots of nearby night and day restaurants. Hotel reception on first floor (2nd if you're from the States). There's a lift.

Good and bad experience. The room is small but has everything you’ll need. Very clean and comfortable. I always use a disinfectant wipe and found no dirt coming out. The bed was comfortable and location is perfect. Near the QVB and town hall train station. The bad I woke up this morning to no hot water for a shower. They should have called in maintenance but we had to wait until 9.00am. It was fixed but had to start the day with out a hot shower. The good was the free tea and toast in the morning. Well done thank you.

Excellent location to all the tourist sights with Tram and Trainds just five minutes walk away—great price for a nice clean hotel with additional free toast and coffee breakfast. Will certainly stay there again.

Good central hotel. Handy to light rail, Town Hall and Wyndham stations which leads to all other Sydney sights and experiences. Clean and tidy room with all you need. Coffee and toast in the foyer area was quite a nice touch before going out for a proper breakfast/morning tea. Slight rumble in the nights (trains we guess) but not enough to disturb us. The only down side was the view of a wall from the window. But we didn't go to Sydney to stay in the hotel all day. Good price too.

Tried to check in a bit earlier, however Female staff were somewhat rude, thankfully the young man on a later shift when checking in was really nice. Close to transport and in the city centre. Good place to just catch up on some sleep. However wouldn’t really recommend for the Price, basically paying for the location. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, we had issues with the sink where the plumbing from the toilet had gone through to the sink and had started pushing out used toilet water with scat. This was a major turn off. They have wifi but it barley works, had to use data for majority of the stay. Asked for an extra toilet roll as they had only supplied half a used one in our room, wasn’t able to provide us with one so we went out and bought our own for the rest of the visit. Would only recommend if you want to stay close to public transport and aren’t fussy about the quality of your stay.

We stayed at Megaboom for the second time, this time for seven nights. The location on York Street is excellent and allowed us to walk to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour very easily and is near the Town Hall train station and the George Street tram. It was very close to a Coles Supermarket. Again we opted for the Premium King Room as it was more spacious. It contained enough storage room, a good mini fridge, a small work desk and a chair and table. The bathroom area also worked well. It had storage room under the sink, supplied toiletries and the shower had both a rain shower head and a hand held shower head, both of which had good water pressure. We found our 5th floor room very quiet and the bed quite comfortable but, while clean, it was showing signs of wear and tear. The reception area on the first floor had a sitting area and toilet facilities. They supplied breakfast with bread and spreads with ham and cheese and salad materials with wooden disposable utensils. We did miss the hard-boiled eggs from last year. You could use the sandwich toaster to make breakfast. Staff-made coffee was available during breakfast too. The elevator was very spacious and serviced all six floors and basement. The daily house keeping kept everything very clean. They offer free luggage storage in a secure room which used on the last day. We expected to use it on the first day but they found us a room early. When my husband's key didn't work the first day they were prompt in replacing it and, when the key failed again after the 11 pm closure of reception, they responded promptly to let him into the hotel. I found the wifi this time in the room very slow and it wasn't always discoverable. The only other difficulty we had was that, since I made the booking but my husband's work was paying for it, we ran into a bit of difficulty as the booking site couldn't accept his credit card if I booked so I asked to get the invoice but that ended up being in my name not his. His work was OK about it (it actually saved them a lot of money) and the underlying problem was actually that Megaboom isn't on his work's list of hotels to book. Megaboom remains my husband's first preference as a place to stay in Sydney and mine as well. It is excellent value for the location.
