The room was spacious, a rarity in the city for that price, quiet in the middle of peak season and close to Chinatown, theatre and public transport. We combined flights to get a further discount, and discounts are available on several websites, so we paid under $200 a night. The decore was classy. Aircon, tv, free toiletries and coffee making facilities were available. The housekeeping service was daily, efficient and generous generous with biscuit and milk refills and towels. The staff were friendly, always saying hello. The cleaning and desk staff were the same people, so we got to know each other, which was added security on the door, when strangers tried to follow us inside without a keycard. We had to tap the keycard at the door, elevator and room door, which gave extra security. The view of the city and church was pleasant and we could hear the church bells at 10am on a Sunday. Incredibly short walk to light rail, bus and train. We caught a taxi by hailing on George St, We attended Capitol Theatre, a short distance away. Thai and Vietnamese food outlets were downstairs. Thai massage was available until 2am! The king-sized bed and pillows were very comfortable.…
We were looking for New Years weekend accommodation in Sydney and came across Valentine at $400/night with no limitied stay. We snapped it up, butt approached with trepidation. The entry lobby is small, but lined with honey-timber. The hotel is also small but does not suffer for it. Our room was long, narrow, spacious ad spotlessly clean with smart angular lines. A King-sized bed overlooked Valentine St, Then a sitting area with TV backed up by a narrow desk and chair next to a coffee-making area where the ridge was stored. On the other side of the entrance is the spacious bathroom. Storage space is quite adequate. Within minutes of Central Railway, Haymarket and Chinatown and on George St it is certainly centrally located
Good location. Good hairdryer and room amenities. Unfortunately this place was stuffy with odd smell which was not clean and fresh. Sticky taped signs and fingerprints everywhere… it was dirty. Dust and spills and after 2 nights the white bottom of my slippers was black. Holes in sheet and towel and fridge also dirty. Not for me. Clean is essential
the location is the only good thing. This is at best a 3 star hotel. Room is dated, very small even with a 21 inch and a cabin size luggage, bedsheets are torn, we got a 30ml body wash for 7 days for 2 person - not topped up. phone does not connect to front desk. upon check out, the front desk is unattended, no one to help deposit our suitcases hence you either pull your suitcases around town since check out is 10am, or pay AUD8 to deposit it at the central station. It is bad.
This hotel is well located for tourists walking to Darling Harbour and to the powerhouse museum. The train and light rail service is literally around the corner giving access to everywhere in Sydney. Our rooms were serviced every day and the staff responded to a minor maintenance issue with 2minutes! The reception is only manned when people check in so this is a room for hire facility rather than hotel. The entrance is not signed very well and we very nearly missed it when we first arrived. There are lots of Asian restaurants and cafes in the area but choices for European food is very limited. The best value for money cafe option for European food was at the YHA nearby. The bed, chairs and TV are virtually at floor level which would be a bit of a challenge for some. The bathroom is roomy and recently renovated. The rooms are quiet and the aircon works well. The prices are some of the cheapest in Sydney with the quality of the rooms being superior to its price competitors. We enjoyed our 10 night stay and will definitely come back.…
Well located off the George street and in China town. Near to tram lines and late hour restaurants. The room is of a very good size, felt like a studio. Very clean as well maintained. Good value for money. The reception is not full time present.
If you’re after a reasonably priced hotel close to Central Station, Valentine on George is just a block away. Not only close to public transport, but being in Haymarket, Chinatown with its vast range of eateries is within a few minutes’ walk. The only nagging things about my stay were that the front doors are always locked, so arriving took a little time. The room was clean & pleasant, but everything was placed really low down (for small people?). The bed, seating, even the TV (usually mounted on a wall or on a desk) was placed on a block sofa - and low. Bathroom was a nice size & there was a small bar fridge, which I always use. The location filled my need for 2 nights, which is what I wanted.
We stayed for 3 nights on a tourist trip to Sydney. Staff were helpful especially with looking after baggage before check-in and after check-out. This allowed us maximum time for sight-seeing. We were particularly impressed that bags were securely stored. Good location for walking or taking the tram to all the sights in the CBD. As the hotel is on a side street it was nice and quiet abt night. Clean room, in-room beverage making facilities and well appointed bathroom. No other facilities within the hotel, just the reception area, loos and lift, but this was fine as there are plenty of eateries on the doorstep for breakfast etc. Would recommend as a reasonably priced, well located hotel with pleasant rooms.
When we first arrived we thought o no what is this place, we got there at about 0900 and couldn’t check in until 1400. Normal with hotels in Australia, we left the cases there and went exploring Sydney. We check in at 1400 and promptly went to sleep as we just got in from Los Angeles. The bed was comfortable and room was a good size, clean with a good shower. It’s right in China Town so plenty of place to eat. You can walk into Sydney easily from the hotel. Cost $66 in a taxi to get there and $35 to get back to the Airport, in a Ride shire. I’d stay again.
If you are looking for clean and comfortable accomodations in a FANTASTIC area this is the place. in less than 10 mins walk in any direction there was the central railroad, chinatown, darling harbor and a major shopping complex. I will say that since the check in is not 24 hours you will need to time your arrival carefully and be sure to not lose your key card, or you will have issues
