Initial welcome was lovely, had a drink in the bar served by a lovely Norwegian girl and, as guests in the hotel, reserved a table in the rooftop bar for lunch (even though we had a booking for an evening meal). The view is outstanding, as is the fit out. However, sitting waiting for 15 minutes to catch someone's eye... More

Dear managers, if you want to create a welcome don't slap down a reserved sign on our upstairs table around our second drinks. We were going to order lunch but following this rudeness we left and went to the Nelson where they were happy to serve us and yes we were well dressed.

We stopped in mid-afternoon to sit in the top room and have a drink and enjoy the views. We were dressed neatly but did not meet the upstairs dress code which required "longs" and some kind of collared shirt. This wasn't posted anyway but a staff member alerted us before we went up the stairs. There is a terrace on... More

Had a birthday function upstairs at Palisade on Sunday and was totally impressed. The views are outstanding. We loved the food too with a very innovative menu. Despite other reviews to the contrary I thought the staff were fantastic, very welcoming even though we had a large group and we got just the right amount of attention. Highly recommended.

I read so many great reviews for Henry Deane room upstairs. Go for a drink, not to eat. The food is over priced and tasteless. Worse than pub food. Very noisy, but great views. I suppose what you pay for. Won't rush back here again. We had to stop at our local restaurant on way home, as we were starving!

During a scenic bike ride around the harbour we decided to go for a drink and bite to eat at the Palisade. Upon arrival at the second to top floor we were advised that our leisure attire (bike pants etc) was not acceptable for the top floor and that we could not go up there for a look. We found... More

Read about this new restaurant in "Taste" Telegraph newspaper on Tuesdays as one of the top 25 new restaurants to try. I agree fantastic view from top floor but I felt uncomfortable when asked for my credit card with our first drinks order that was only given back after paying the bill. Food was tasty but over priced. Service acceptable... More

Beware of "dress codes". I was told that sports/leisure gear is not acceptable for lunch. In fact I was told that I must have "no experience in Sydney's cocktail bar scene"( actually a restaurant). Service is rude indifferent and slow. They will kill a great location with bad attitude.

A hotel with potential. Good location for the Rocks and vicinity. Funky appearance and very good value for money. Staff need work. Vary from arrogant (Upstairs bar manager) to competent (check in), to friendly but not so effective. The upstairs bar is badly configured with quite inflexible 6 to 8 person seating arrangments. Unless you are Ok with sitting very... More

Was here recently with a group celebrating a birthday on a Sunday afternoon. Food was okay - we ordered several hundred dollars worth. And the views are incredible! Sadly, the rude, surly service from snotty girls whose dresses were short enough to regularly flash us really spoiled the day. Also the truly obnoxious policy of kicking people out of their... More
