This hostel was lovely, chilled atmosphere, clean and excellent staff. The housekeeper was very friendly and constantly cleaning. Reception staff were always welcoming, especially Chris and Martha who made the place feel like home. A real home away from home, excellent facilities and comfy rooms- will definitely be back again :)

We really enjoyed out stay at Glebe YHA. It was the first YHA my boyfriend and I stayed at and they helped us organise our journey up the east coast, recommending place to visit and things to do. Craig the manager is an absolute character and just overall bubbly person. We were going to stay at Glebe for a week... More

The YHA is a nice hostel with lovely staff at the front desk! I stayed in a private room when I first got to Australia in 2013 and the came back for two nights in a dorm room in 2014. The private room was pretty small, especially considering the price, the dorm room however was great. The kitchen is reasonably... More

I had to wait for my house when I booked my share bedroom for 2 weeks. I had never lived in a hostel before and I admit I was a little worried about it. Fortunately it was a good surprise for me. The building is very clean and well ordered. The helpful, friendly staff organise something to do everyday such... More

We booked the place just 30mins before arriving yha due to an overbooked accommodation we had book prior to our arrival in Sydney. Was in total bad luck because despite us successfully booked for 2 girls via booking.com , upon arrival, we were notified that there was some technical gliche and they didn't had any bed for us. However, the... More

This YHA is a little way out of Sydney central and in a very pleasant area called Glebe. There is a relaxed 'village' feel to the area and a good selection of shops, cafes and so on. To get into the city there are a number of choices. You can walk into the centre (Circular Quay) in about 3/4 of... More

Place itself is about a 40 min walk into the city which isnt bad, cheaper to book week to week once you get to the hostel. Wifi is only free in certain areas and is completely rubbish. Showers are clean, rooms are ok, depending on who you share with, there are a few long terms there. The main door locks... More

I stayed here for a couple of weeks back in 1990 and have lots of happy memories. The place had a nice, friendly atmosphere, good rooms, value for money and a nice quirky area to stroll around. Recommended.

A pleasant clean hostel, I stayed in a dorm room all by myself and loved it! Was clean and tidy, bathrooms were fine. Nothing amazing or plush but perfectly fine. But what was extra nice was that this is in a lovely part of the city and not stuck in the horrible centre with all the backpackers and craziness. But... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in November. The room was so hot and stuffy. The fan they supply you with in the room just blows around hot air. This place needs air conditioning and things are only going to get worse considering the high of the summer isn't until February. The hostel is ok but a bit rough around... More

Staying in Glebe

Neighborhood Profile
Glebe
An inner city suburb along the water, Glebe has a deep-rooted sense of cultural history and heritage. It originated as a semi-rural resort for the well-to-do, but has transformed into a student-centric melting pot. Visit Glebe Point Road for ethnic cuisine as standard as Mexican, Indian, Italian and Chinese, or as diverse as Spanish, Bavarian, Polish, Czech and Lebanese. You will find that Glebe is accepting of the eccentrics and aboriginals that roam the streets, integrating students and people of all economic statuses into the multi-cultural fabric that distinguishes this suburb. Glebe Foreshore is a great destination for a leisurely walk along the Bay, and the Saturday market is a great scene for bargain hunters.
