We stayed here with old and young family members and although we couldn't find fault with the hotel as a whole there was nothing that stood out as a 5* hotel as in others we have stayed at in Sydney. I'll start with the positives:- Large rooms, soft clean, comfy bed, nice size bath, concierge staff were excellent. Now the negatives:- All the reception staff were trainees so not as efficient as they could be. The lifts took forever to come. Instant coffee in the rooms (not pods) not enough toiletries, and the WORST thing was the CROFT RESTAURANT. For a 5* hotel it should be ashamed of itself. We ate there on our first evening and invited a guest from the other side of Sydney to join us for dinner. 5* hotel, 5* restaurant you would have thought? Some of the items on the menu were 5* listed but that's where the similarities ended. The risotto was more like lumpy, gluggy mash, burger was dry and stale. Now the dessert was interesting too. Ordered hot chocolate souffle - it was neither hot nor a souffle. The waitress didn't understand what the probelm was when we asked for a replacement. It was replaced with..... exactly the same! The sticky date pudding was served cold too? The waitress asked if we wanted ice cream with our dessert which we had, then found we had been charged $5 per tiny spoonful extra each. The waitress did ask if we wanted to see the chef but by this time we were too tired and embarressed (the invited guest) to bother. This evening of distateful food cost us over $500 so don't make the same mistake we did and think it's a good place for dinner.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I choose to stay at Amora on Jamison Hotel in the Sydney CBD. we are so happy we did. The staff were amazing and the room outstanding. The hotel is located close the Wynyard Heavy Train Station and Bridge Street Light Rail station. The hotel was one stop from Circular Quay or a five minute walk. You can also walk through Wynyard Station to Darling Harbour. Our room was a Deluxe King room with a corner view on the 33rd floor. I mentioned the staff. Drew and Robin greeted us and were amazing. Such a professional team. In fact all of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend the hotel.

The entry was nicely appointed and check-in was timely. However, the rooms are very aged in appearance and require updating. For a so-called 5-star hotel, the finer details have been missed. There was dust on certain flat areas, frosting on the bottom of the shower screen door from soap residue, someone had tried to clean marks on the mirror with a scratching cleaner. There was a common narrative amongst every other person that I asked as I didnt want to appear to base my review on my individual thougths. One gentleman said his biscuits in his room were out of date, (he got biscuits, lucky him). The location should not give the hotel its 5-star rating. Breakfast was typical of any hot buffet that was in the room price. I was not aware that you could get eggs cooked to your preference until my last day when I was finished. I ordered room service to be told that there would be an hour wait as they were short staffed. After half an hour, reception rang and told me they had no ham for my toastie so I ordered something else. I asked for fries with it, but they did not appear on the plate. The night before I ordered a baby cos salad with smoked salmon only to have buffalo mozzarella salad turn up. So it was the little things that was the let down. There were lots of trainee staff as well. Also, you would ring reception and most of the time the phone would ring out. This was the number to order room service and any other enquiry that you may have had. Overall, it was a bed in a great location. However, what I expected and what I paid for the room did not equate to the rating. I did love when staff came to turn down your bed and the delightful chocolate. However, if you werent in your room, the service wasnt provided.

Painfully understaffed the weekend of the NRL grand final. Queue to the check in desk was ridiculously long every time we were in the lobby. Room wasn’t ready until 4pm for a 2pm check in. Only three out of the five elevators worked leaving a 5-12 minute wait to get from your room to the lobby.

The Amora has a good reputation locally (I was told by some locals) and there are certain things about it that make it a superb base for a visit to downtown Sydney. It's about 10 minutes' walk from the opera house, 5 minutes from the Botanical Gardens and 15 minutes walk from the harbour bridge. The airport train has 2 stops, each within 5 - 10 minutes walk of the hotel, and there is a tram stop almost right outside. I found it easy to get to, and a great base for exploring the city. Rooms are (well, mine was) bright and airy, well-proportioned and (on the 34th floor) with fantastic views over the Central Business District and the harbour beyond. The breakfast is a bit steep if you have to pay for it separately - AS$30 for the continental buffet and an eye-watering $40 for the hot buffet. I'd suggest you could probably do better by walking a few minutes outside to a cafe. My room rate included breakfast, so I tried a bit of everything. It was OK. The same things on the hot buffet every morning (scrambled or hard-boiled egg, sausage, bacon, steamed vegetables, hash browns...). I didn't ask if fried eggs were an option. Service was generally good, although on one occasion they brought me the "coffee to start" as I was about to head off. At night the hotel was beautifully quiet, with only the sound of an occasional emergency vehicle filtering through from the street below. The aircon works well and the bathroom was well-appointed and clean. My only gripes: the (free) wi-fi had some unique property which meant that my phone lost its connection every time it went into stand-by. So you could be reading the news over your scrambled eggs, pop over to get an orange juice, and when you get back the website says "No internet connection". I was staying with 3 colleagues and we all found the same thing. A laptop computer was slightly better, only losing the connection when shut down completely - even with the "connect automatically" box checked. Also, in common with some other downtown hotels, it seems over-priced for what you get. If you can secure a bargain rate and are flexible with your travel dates, it's probably not too bad, but I booked a few months in advance, and got a "very special" (i.e. extortionate) nightly rate. There is also a 1.5% surcharge for paying by credit card - that would be illegal in the UK, but clearly not here. They were a little shy about that, leaving me to read it on the "I accept the terms and conditions" sheet at check-in. And there it was on my bill when I checked out.

Absolutely joke the process Of booking . Check in the room key was not activated . Come back to reception wait again . Get it done . Back to room . Had access to Jamison lounge - the card was not activated had go back wait at the reception . The bed linen had red wine stains . The room had dust all over the furniture . Parking was validated by the hotel it cost more no issue paying but they charge more then the rate if I went direct to car park & paid my self . So they put their mark up . Rang today to express my disappointment to the manager Alex Phan .. Mr manager couldn’t hold a conversation - rude / arrogant . Not worth the premium rate they charge stay somewhere else plenty of Options

I would have given it a zero except the bell staff were good. Where to start. Breakfast. A full 34 floor hotel . Breakfast room capacity I estimate at 250 or less. A spring Sat and Sunday in Sydney made for a disaster. Buffet was extremely limited, poorly presented, food was not seasoned snd the topper, all three days we were there, most of the serving hot plates were empty . One do it yourself coffee machine and do a constant waiting line. Many people walked out to the bar for a coffee where they hit you for $6 . Extra bonus … they charged $40 PP for a disgraceful offering Housekeeping. They made the bed and changed the towels but that’s about it . We actually asked the made to change fresh sheets out as they were in need. Came back later and found she just made the bed with same sheets. That’s not acceptable and at least worthy of a 2 star hotel Check out. We had driven to the city and put our car in valet parking. Shame on us, we didn’t double check pricing. I was expecting ting $30-$40 per night which is standard. At check out we were gobsmacked to go find they charged us $85 PER night!! Just crazy!! We have stayed at the Amora a few times in the past and it was fine but never again!! Stay away!

Stayed at Amora mainly due to its location close to the Quay and the Rocks Hadn’t stayed for more than ten yrs Hotel is well maintained Lobby area is modern and spacious with good decor Room was spacious, maintained well but furnished in a wood finish which is dated Found staff difficult, not really engaging or over friendly Outrageous surcharge for additional milk capsules ($7) which was disappointing for a five star property Bar area was good, restaurant served good meals Overall, might look for other options Parking $67 per night was quite high I felt also

We booked the Amora Hotel so we could stay in Sydney after a special dinner in the city. We were very impressed by the hotel facilities and it has a superb convenient location being an easy walk from Wynyard train and buses and also close to the light rail so all parts of the city are easily accessible. Room was comfortable, clean and modern. Bathrooms are great with a separate bath and shower which is very unusual to find in modern hotel rooms.
