Overall the hostel was clean, tidy and the staff were exceptionally friendly and pleasant. The location is a bit far out from the main city-you need to get a bus to visit the key places, however if you do not want to stay in the hustle and bustle of the city it is a nice quiet location to stay. However,... More

great hostel when we were travelling. was a great place to find work too, as long as you are up early enough there was always workers looking a bit of labour for a day or 2's work. meant we made enough money to continue our travels.

Seriously, just don't! This place is awful. Blood stained mattresses, bed-bugs, definitely a workers hostel not a backpackers hostel....and the smell! Showers are communal & never appeared to be cleaned the whole time we stayed. There was a cigarette butt in the downstairs shower for 3 days, unbelievable. I know Sydney is expensive but trust me, pay a little extra... More

On arrival check in wasn't great. Trip advisor states that wifi is free- it isn't. We checked in and headed up to our dorm. This was a dorm of 12 people. No one really spoke much, only to each other. It turns out they all live there and have been for months so we felt like we were invading there... More

Check in was quick and she showed us to the room after handing us some bedding (this should have been a big clue). Over all first impression was pretty good. Computers. Open area. Nice and quiet. THEN she opened our door. After a stint in hospital this mad me feel so sick. Mould everywhere and a horrible smell of dust... More

Check-in wasn't great - was just handed a room key and not told what room I was in, where things were etc. Wasn't given any sheets - got to the room to find no sheets on the bed - went back to reception and was given sheets with stains all over them and was told to just put them back... More

This place got it wrong on all fronts. When we arrived, we were greeted by someone who didn't know the location of our room. After walking around for fifteen minutes in the rain, he called another member of the staff to escort us. Along the way we saw a huntsman spider indoors, which we were told to ignore. After a... I never write reviews about hostels. However, I felt it necessary to warn fellow backpackers about this place. I only stayed here 2 nights because I was visiting friends, and that was more than enough for me. I have stayed in many hostels and have a high tolerance when it comes to noise, cleanliness, rules etc. This hostel has no... More

I loved this hostel, I stayed there for 5 months about 2 years ago (I don't know about now, but it was nice and clean then!), the reception girls were amazing, i met some really good friends there who I'm still in contact with. There was free breakfast everyday, free pancakes on a sunday and a free BBQ on a... More

Staying in Glebe

Neighborhood Profile
Glebe
An inner city suburb along the water, Glebe has a deep-rooted sense of cultural history and heritage. It originated as a semi-rural resort for the well-to-do, but has transformed into a student-centric melting pot. Visit Glebe Point Road for ethnic cuisine as standard as Mexican, Indian, Italian and Chinese, or as diverse as Spanish, Bavarian, Polish, Czech and Lebanese. You will find that Glebe is accepting of the eccentrics and aboriginals that roam the streets, integrating students and people of all economic statuses into the multi-cultural fabric that distinguishes this suburb. Glebe Foreshore is a great destination for a leisurely walk along the Bay, and the Saturday market is a great scene for bargain hunters.
