The bed is too small, and the environment of the hostel is terrible. The kitchen is filthy, and the shower system is flawed. While i was showering, the shower literally just broke and fall on the ground. And good luck if you are sleeping on the upper bunk bed, because you may not even have your own power socket. Not... Even though we didn't expect much (being a backpackers), the experience was below our already low expectations. Wifi was very bad and everything looked a bit dull. The proximity to the main CBD area and the free shuttle service provided are some of the few good points.

This hostel has a perfect Central location, walking distance to all the sites! The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are always kept clean! And the rooms are fairly spacious. If your looking for budget clean accomadation this is perfect.

no refund, dirty, bad wifi and hard mattresses, lots of stuff stolen, cockroaches everywhere, small fridges, too many long terms that literally live there, only one small kitchen and dishes always dirty, there was a knife fight, food always stolen, rooms are too small for the beds, air con blows and dont work at all, not enough room to eat... I stayed in a de luxe single room. I don't think you could get a better room in the centre of Sydney for the price I paid. Staff were polite, but over worked. They need to have more staff on so they have time to give customers better service. However, despite this reservation I can recommend it for someone wanting... More

I've stayed at the Sydney Backpackers twice now, once in 2012 and once in 2015. It definitely improved since my initial stay. The staff did the bare minimum and weren't particularly friendly, but I also had no issues with them. It's a very basic place, but for the price and location, it is definitely worth staying there. You can basically... More

Stayed here a few nights while in sydney, was a amazing location and as good as any other hostel I've stayed in. Staff were always friendly and helpful whenever I needed anything. Tons of restaurants and other things around open later than the rest of the city!

A really clean and nice place with a great location. The rooftop allows a nice view on the cbd and make you really feel in the heart of the city! I would really recommand it! The only flaw is that the mattress may be a bit hard

This is a basic quiet hostel. There are no parties here. Which is fine with me. The rooms had central AirCon I did notice a slight difference, and later in the night it was easy to sleep because of the AirCon and lack of noise. There is not much to do in this hostel. Their is a television with basic... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
