Our family has never stayed at "hostels" however Sydney is very expensive and this was a cheaper option for us. Also its very difficult and expensive to find a hotel room that can accommodate 4 people which their family room can. We booked this hotel last minute and were very pleasantly surprised! After reading some negative reviews we didn’t know what to expect but our room was absolutely lovely, very spacious, clean and the hostel had all the amenities we required. The room tariff also included breakfast which was very good. I would definitely recommend this hostel to someone wanting affordable accommodation close enough to the center of Sydney.

The location of the hotel was very good, near town centre. Good clean bathroom and clean bed. The cleanliness and comfort of the rooms plus breakfast was enjoyable.

The property is being renovated and they haven't finish the area we were in but it will be nice once the refurbishments are finished.

It was a short bus ride to Bondi Beach and this was very enjoyable.

This place has the potential to be really good but unfortunately it looks more like a junkies house than a hostel. Very dirty room with graffiti, the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on, other guest do not respect other people (shouting loudly in the hall at 1am, blocking the toilets, peeing all over the toilet floors and using the toilet with the door wide open)

Ended up costing me more more as I couldn't spend another second in this dump so paid for another hotel.

Wouldn't leave a junkies dog in this place.

Are you sure you stayed at the Elephant? We only host international travellers and have a zero tolerance to any illicit drug use or alcohol for that matter. There is no graffiti in any of our rooms and the rooms are checked weekly by the manager, myself and daily by the housekeeper. As to guests shouting in the corridors - we have security going through the building on a regular basis throughout the night and besides for the over zealous reveller returning to their room, we are a very quiet hostel.

Very good location, everything you need and there is even the possibility to work for accommodation. It was cheap and convenient, a great budget way to stay in the city. I've seen some reviews complaining about the renovations they're doing. They were painting a corridor while we stayed - but they did it when most people were out and it didn't disturb us.

it's not really clear, what you want to say, but I can say, for the time when I was there, which was a year ago, that I enjoyed my stay. it's a low budget hostel. that's what you pay for, that's what you get. no more, not... More
