"Simpsons" is an intimate 12 - room B&B boutique hotel, situated within a restored 1892 Victorian mansion, and is very centrally located in leafy tree-lined Potts Point, a vibrant and cosmopolitan area, being the closest suburb east of the City, with many interesting restaurants, bars, galleries and cafes nearby, yet only a 20 minute walk to the beauty of Sydney Harbour and Opera House.

A welcoming and beautiful hotel perfectly positioned to see Sydney. Not far from the Botanical Gardens, the opera house and harbour. Our hosts were welcoming, the hotel beautiful and the room just what we needed after a long flight. The lite touches were special, chocolates and

Our stay in Sidney was perfect with this little gem as our hotel. Friendly service, close to the centre, but still quiet. Nice atmosphere, great breakfast. Helpful staff. Very nice neighbourhood with great restaurants.

Good morning ! Thank you for your helpful and succinct review. We thoroughly agree with everything you said ! Potts Point is certainly a great area to stay, with all its restaurants and little boutiques, yet only 20-mins. stroll into the city. Cheers Keith and the Simpsons Team

This was the first hotel we stayed in on a tour of Australia, also the last - a couple of weeks later. It's perfectly placed for the tourist, with shops, restaurants, takeaways and a laundry within just a few minutes' walk. On-street parking is next to impossible, there's a

Thankyou Nick ! How pleasant to get two positive reviews in one ! Thankyou. We especially appreciate repeat guests, those who have seen us, "warts and all", and still decide to return ! Yes, we feel that Potts Point is a great place for tourists to stay. As Conde Nast Travel once said, many years ago, ".....Potts Point is the place to stay when you want to be in the City, but don't want to stay in the City". We love our old Mansion House, and its history. I read the other day that the oldest woman in the world, a Frenchwoman, had died at 122-years. Old dear old house is now some 125-years old, and her make-up needs a little attention. However, she still exudes charm and character, and if you can ignore the odd paint chip and squeaky door, then "Simpsons" may be the place for you ! Thanks for the king Review ! Keith and the gang !

I have long wanted to stay at this hotel, so it was with some anticipation that we booked a room for a one night stay. On the plus side it's a convenient location and as always, my review must be on the overall view and the specific room I stayed in - The Challis Room. The

Hello Zaubie ! I have only just seen this Review, which had apparently been deleted by mistake, otherwise I would have responded before the following one, so apologies for the delayed response. Thankyou for making such detailed and candid comments, which are helpful to us. Firstly, we appreciate your compliments about the public rooms, our healthy breakfast buffet and general room comfort. We are sorry you found the location of our office a little disconcerting. Whilst I can understand your viewpoint, and in fact we have given consideration to this issue, we find that the convenience to guests in this current arrangement outweighs that, as we are able to converse with, and assist guests more openly, and to keep an eye on their progress and needs. That said, we do try to close the door, and lower our voice, should we need to take outside calls, and your comments have encouraged us to bear this further in mind. In relation to out decor, it is an ongoing issue. Our dear old building is 120 years old, and whilst we do have a regular maintenance programme, there are certainly matters that either escape out attention, or get put into the "too hard basket" for the following year ! We hope that our guests will forgive the odd paint chip, or other defect, in exchange for the other good points we offer. Whilst we do not have the full facilities of modern chain hotels, we certainly have comfortable beds, good showers, and other essential room amenities to make our guests stay as pleasant as possible. Not knowing this guest, or when they stayed, I cannot be specific on the other items, other than to say Wednesday mornings can be noisier when the Council collects the recyclables, and the upper floor rooms are obviously a little quieter. November is peak time in Sydney, and I don't think there would be many hotels at that time offering our facilities, including complimentary breakfasts and complimentary parking, for that rate. There would be no cafes in our area offering our quality/quantity breakfast for any less than $20-30.00 per head. Our second-floor, "Dormer" attic-style rooms are also more economical. Finally, and what concerns me, is that you did not find us as welcoming as you would have expected. We certainly pride ourselves on being as openly welcoming and friendly to our guests as is possible, and try to make their stay in Sydney and at "Simpsons" memorable, for all the right reasons. Your comments are a wake-up call to us to keep trying harder. Thanks again for your candid comments. Whilst "Simpsons" may not suit everyone, if you like "olde world" ambience, in a great area, then possibly "Simpsons" may suit you ? Why not give us a try? Cheers Keith and the "Simpsons" team.

Hello Reviewer ! We are sorry that this reviewer had "mixed feelings" about us. Whilst we are glad that they liked our dear old mansion house, and their room, as well as our great Potts Point neighbourhood, we are disappointed that they did not find the friendliness they had expected. Without being able to identify the guest we cannot respond specifically to their comments, other than to say that it is most unlike us, as most of our guests do seem to enjoy the intimacy of our little hotel. Anyhow, it is a good wake-up call to us to always keep trying harder ! In relation to our breakfast, we do pride ourselves on our healthy, and complimentary, breakfast buffet, with a combination of juices, various breads and cereals, ham, salami, cheeses, boiled eggs, smoked salmon, as well as a choice of fresh and preserved fruits, and in particular Marie's delicious home-made rhubarb compote which is a favourite amongst our regulars. For those who need a full fried bacon/eggs style start to the day there is an excellent cafe just across the road. Thanks for taking the time to review us, and for your candid comments ! We will keep trying ! Cheers Keith and the "Simpsons" team.
