Wonderful Art Deco hotel in the heart of the city. A quiet oasis. Once you step into the building you are transported back in time. Modern bathrooms and clean rooms. Very friendly staff. Close to Town Hall, Museum and St James stations and the QVB and Pitt street mall. Thank you for a wonderful Two nights.

The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel is rather grand. We enjoyed the downstairs bar for an early evening drink...very civilised! The rooms are quiet small but most adequate with a tidy bathroom and excellent shower. Our companions had breakfast on level 2...just for the heck of it. The upper level "ballroom" looked very impressive. Excellent location in the heart of the CBD... More

The hotel was chosen for me by the organisation which booked me to speak at a dinner, so I had no idea what to expect. I just want somewhere very quiet and yet very easy to get to from the airport. It is both. The entry is luxurious, the room nicely decorated and everything extremely clean. I loved it. As... More

Had a amazing time in Sydney & was even better staying at this hotel. The staff were very helpful & pleasant, the service was always friendly. Excellent & clean room. Close walking distance to everything. Loved staying here & would stay here again.

Overall a disappointment. After my one night in this hotel I feel it didn't live up to expectations. First yes I understand I took the cheap room but it literally felt so cramped and they still put chairs in there. There was probably less than 40cm between bed and wall with a weirdly placed mirror. Second the shower took a... More

I was a bit concerned about staying here after reading some ordinary reviews.. but I was very pleasantly surprised. It is in such an excellent position, walk to the city centre, train just at the corner, hyde park 2 blocks away, and surrounded by eateries. The hotel has a lovely olde feel but very comfortable. The room was spacious enough... More

I stay here every week and love it! It's located in the heart of Sydney's CBD, close to everything: amazing shoppnig, Hyde Park, Theatre, NSW Art Gallery and the delights of Sydney Harbour are only a short walk, or 5 minute train ride away. It's between two train stations, St James and TownHall, and only 15 minutes by train from... More

This hotel is a hidden gem close to fabulous shopping and St James Station. The staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are small but are decorated in beautiful furniture suited to the era of the hotel. It is tucked away so there are no views. There is a constant hum and as a country person used to silence at... More

My family had booked this hotel months in advance as a birthday present for our parents. Due to illness in the family we were no longer able to make the dates we booked. Armindo from the hotel was extremely understanding of the situation and was able to move our dates for only a small extra charge (despite the special deal... More

I had seen mixed reviews and comments about the small room sizes so was open as what to expect. I found the hotel reasonable for the price charged and perfectly adequate for a 2 day stay. Staff were helpful and we found the central location in the CBD to be what we were looking for.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
