Swissôtel Sydney is often celebrated for its sophisticated atmosphere and prime central location, with guests frequently lauding its proximity to city attractions. However, opinions are divided regarding amenities and service, where some visitors commend the staff's attentiveness and others point out service inefficiencies. Cleanliness receives both praise and criticism, with inconsistency being a concern.
The comfort and quietness of rooms are appreciated, yet there are grievances about their dated style and maintenance. Additionally, the value is questioned due to extra fees and high prices for standard services.

Good location with easy access to subway & places of interest. Plenty of action to see right in city centre. Dinner on the 8th floor where the breakfast is has very good lamb & beef but strange that the restaurant charges extra 1.5% for the use of credit card in such an establishment. Comb was not provided when the website says toileteries are provided where i had to use my fingers as a comb. No provision of toothpaste for the rest of the days that we stayed where toothpaste was only provided for 1st day. The paper toothpaste is also very inconvenient to use where it hardens after opening so you can't use it for subsequent days.

You certainly cannot get any more central than the Swissotel Stamford on Market Street in Sydney’s central business district. The location is perfect with a 1 minute stroll to Pitt Street Mall, the State Theatre and endless restaurants and cafes dotted throughout the area. Circular Quay and Hyde Park are only but a short walk away. Currently the hotel is undergoing renovation, and disturbances are kept to a minimum. The team are warm, friendly, engaging and professional and are extremely customer service focused. Ten Stories restaurant and Crossroads Bar are both great as is the Executive Club Lounge. The Executive Club Lounge can get extremely busy between 5.30 - 7.30pm. The reason for my 4 star rating rather than 5 is that I had organised an Executive Suite for 3 nights. The Suite was extremely well layed out, however all Executive Suites sit directly behind the lift shaft and run the length of the 3 customer service lifts. There is a definite rumbling and noise from the lift shaft which runs all day and night. To be fair, it is quieter late at night when not in use. I would say to management, that if you ever renovate the rooms in the future consider the layout and moving your most expensive suite to an area not affected by the noise of the lift shaft. I would very much recommend the Swissotel Stamford for a stay in Sydney if you’d like to be in the centre of all the action

My family and I had a good stay however there is room for improvements, i.e. the room that was allocated had a loose hinge given the door can still be closed and workable. I did not inform front desk of the matter, decided to overlook this. The toilet had a leaking pipe which seems to only leak in the evenings which made the floor quite wet.
Aside from this, on the 3rd day of my visit while preparing to go down for breakfast, the door bell rang quite early around 7.45am, upon opening the door I was shocked to see the housekeeping waiting to clean the room. I admire the commitment of the attending staff in wanting to clean the room at such an early hour. Maybe, the attending housekeeping staff knew of the leaking pipe and wanted to clean it ASAP ( my best guess).
Breakfast wise the spread was ok, unfortunately due to renovations works the orginal breakfast area , it was serve in one of the ballrooms, but was fortunate enough to visit it on the last day of my stay, spread wise is ok.
Overall the stay as mentioned was good ( nice bed) room wise was big to accommodate 3 adults . The other plus point is it was close to transportation( Light rail and the metro) and eateries.

The location of Swissotel is ideal for a trip to Sydney. Located next to Pitt St Mall and directly opposite the State Theatre nothing is very far away. A couple of minutes after leaving the room we were at the QVB Tram spot giving you easy access to Circular Quay and Paddy's Market. if you are happy to walk and the weather is good both locations are only a short distance away. Darling Harbour is also an easy walk away.
Breakfast is overpriced at $44 per person. As an Accor Plus member we received 50% discount as there was two of us dining. Had we not had the discount I would not have taken breakfast at the restaurant. Servicing Rooms was a poor. We stayed Thursday night to Monday morning. On the Saturday Morning we left the hotel around 9am and returned after lunch. Our room was not serviced during this time even though we had indicated the room was vacant. This appears to be a common issue with hotels as they generally prioritise servicing rooms that are being checked out. A basic improvement that could be made is to have an early cleaner who could commence servicing rooms when people are leaving for breakfast . Overall the stay was pleasant but attention to the small details would not go astray.

As an Accor Diamond member I feel this hotel plays lip service to supporting the published benefits. At check in they thanked me for my loyalty but that was it. When I queried the possibility of an upgrade I was advised that I had already booked a nice room so no upgrade was possible, in fact there were multiple better rooms available. They said they needed to check with the Manager. When I asked for a late check out the instant response was not really possible, I queried this and they said they had to check with the manager. It does seem that the manager needs to empower their staff to deliver the benefits that loyalty is meant to offer - If an upgrade is not possible clearly state that at check in, offer a drink voucher or a bottle of wine or chocolates don’t just ignore the benefit. Loyalty is a two way street.
Room a reasonable size but if you are a light sleeper make sure you are not near the lifts as you can hear these and feel them move past the room. When we visited there was an industrial dehumidifier operating in the corridor, this was left running all night which was not good.
Others have commented on the lounge which people pay a lot of money for. When we visited it was very busy with no chance to work or read. There were lots of children some with well behaved parents some with parents who didn’t really care what their children did.
Location is very central with easy access to shops, offices and reasonable walking distance to Circular Quay, approximately 10 minutes. Perfect location for State Theatre

The experience was generally positive. Really grateful that we were granted early check-in since we arrived in Sydney in the AM after a red-eye flight. Location was great and room was well-sized. The proximity to most public transport options made it easy to move around. Malls nearby also meant food and shopping was easily available.
What was NOT great was slight inconsistencies in housekeeping—I understand there was an alternate day towel change practice, but I think they didn't change our towels from Day 3-5. Our room would seem made up but our own little blanket and pillow (for child) would be left messy and randomly thrown on the bed, rather than folded and set properly. It left me wondering whether the team did come in to clean up.
The bathroom fittings were also visibly old—hanger behind the door kept swivelling and couldn't keep anything on. The worst part of the experience was being charged A$21+ for unknown items hours AFTER check-out when we were told everything was fine at point of signing out. I had to write in to enquire and was told it was charges for minibar items that we totally did not touch at all. It's not ever in our family's practice to consume anything unless items were complimentary. In all my years of traveling for business and leisure, this is the FIRST time I've been "accused" or wrongly charged of items in such circumstances. I am shocked to say the least since Swissotel is a big name with great reputation. Your housekeeping team's SOPs clearly need some checks. To be honest, it has left a bad taste in the mouth. I might be cautious when considering a stay at any other Swissotel properties henceforth.

I was looking for a staycation for my wife's 40th birthday. I ended up picking the Swissotel as the location and amenities did appeal to me.
I called a week prior and asked the reception/reservations (onsite) staff to confirm their procedure with connecting rooms and was advised to first book a King and Twin Room then call once that had been completed and then the Swissotel staff could confirm my request for my family (2 adults + 2 young children).
I then proceeded to book our stay and called and confirmed via phone with the hotel staff directly 3 days prior to my stay on the Friday just gone.
Upon my arrival we were greeted by the concierge who took 20 minutes to work out that there was no such notes left on my booking (even though the person who confirmed it on the phone 3 days prior knew there were two bookings in both my wife's and my name). They spent this time trying to work out what to do and the solutions were as follows - no connecting rooms but adjoining rooms or moving us to the "upgraded" executive suite (1 room) with a "sofa bed arrangement" (Complete even with a well written welcome card for another Accor Platinum member and a welcome plate of crackers and dried fruit).
As this was a milestone event for my wife we decided to stay with the Executive room and were given a room next to the lift shaft with a bath that didn't work properly. Funnily enough we were offered our rooms and the hotel did move the bags without us being there the following day (Saturday) which we hastily took given this was our original request (and if we wanted the executive suite it would of been the one we booked).
At this point in time I will say that the hotel is very nice, and the two rooms we were then moved as per our original booking/request were very clean, tidy and were exactly the reason as to why we wished to book the Swissotel in the first place. The breakfast was very tasty and generous in the offerings. The pool is a nice quaint area and the gym has modern equipment.
All in all, the stay at Swissotel would of been a five star experience had it not been for the heavy handedness of the staff behind the front desk. The blasé take it or leave it approach is not befitting of a self described 5 star luxury hotel; a simple call on the day or the day prior where there were no rooms available could have avoided a thoroughly disappointing experience.
Special mention to Deepa who did everything that I considered to be in her direct control to make good of a poor situation.

Being a mum to a toddler who wakes up multiple times a night, I booked this hotel so I could get a good rest + get up early for a business call.
After my call I went back to bed to enjoy the rare opportunity of sleeping in, when suddenly housekeeping barged into my room and woke me up 20 minutes into my sleep. I had the DND sign on, but apparently front desk made a mistake and already checked me out in the system.
I wanted to file my complaint when checking out, but the lines at reception were SO long I left after 30 minutes of waiting.
Extremely disappointed in this hotel, especially considering this is a “5 star hotel” that charges $400 per night for a small room.

We were staying at Swissotel Sydney for 4 nights, and the hotel's location is truly unbeatable as it's right in the the center of Sydney. I was actually considering the Sofitel Darling Habour but chose this due to the better location.
We arrived at the hotel around 4pm and were upgraded as per our Accor status and given our welcome drink vouchers. Rooms are generally spacious and well appointed. They just did a bed change and the new beds are ultra comfortable. Best sleep I had in my whole trip in Australia so far. The only feedback I have about the rooms is the dark carpets, it really hides the dust from the housekeeping team and we found the room generally quite dusty.
As we were there during school holidays unexpectedly as I planned this Australia trips months in advance, the hotel was full occupancy. My only biggest gripe was that out of the 3 guests lift, only 2 were working. Thus, there was a perpetual long wait time for the lifts of at least 5 to 10 minutes. I think even on one evening, there was only 1 lift working.
Additionally, I was quite dumbfounded by the concierge service at level 1. I asked the gentleman working what was the average/ballpark cost of a taxi to the airport, he just loudly replied "We don't share that here". Of course I did ask why he wasn't able to share the and he just mentioned again "We just don't share that here"..... abit dumbfounded by the reason and tone of the gentleman to be honest.
When I went to Front Office after, they immediately shared the average price over, so it really begs the question why concierge was acting like this.
Overall, the stay would have been great if the rooms were less dusty, the lifts were all operational, and the concierge service was better and friendlier. Location wise, this hotel wins hands down.

The location was perfect, right in the centre of town. A 5 minute walk to Darling Harbour, train and light rail at your doorstep as well as the mall. Our room was lovely and large with good amenities. The pool was lovely as were all of the staff. What let the hotel down was the apparent lack of ability to cope with the amount of people staying. The lifts were always breaking down, with long wait times, up to 15 mins at times. Breakfast was over crowded, so people had to wait up to 20 mins for tables ( a booking system would sort this) and the rush to get plates out meant I picked up some plates dirty on the bottom as they had not been checked coming out of the dishwasher. The room was not cleaned properly each day, toilet paper, tissues not replaced, soap dispenser ran out, carpet not alway vacuumed.
