I think you're paying for the "intercontinental" name more than anything. The room was decent enough, but the bathroom was dated and had peeling wallpaper. The view in their city rooms is nothing to write home about. I think this is the kind of place where your experience directly correlates with how much you're willing to pay, so they don't...

Nice place, comfortable rooms and beds. Lovely view of the city harbour very beautiful even in the rain. Breakfast is great, lots of choice. Best part of town, close to ferries and Sunday markets. Movie theatre a stone throw away and lovely restaurants close by.

Whether traveling by air to or from Sydney for a day or two, this can be very convenient. The train fare from either domestic or international terminals to Mascot Station is an unavoidable premium over suburban train fares but it is cheaper than taxi and the Intercontinental is about 5 minutes walk from the station. That means trips to town...

My wife and I stayed here in February to celebrate our 7th year wedding anniversary. I'm lucky enough to stay in a few of the IHG hotels but I have to say that this one was amazing. We organised a club room which came with access to the club for breakfast, drinks and before dinner canapes! It was remarkable -...

Recent stay for the weekend for my wife's birthday. Stayed in a club room with harbour views. Check in was seamless and very efficient. Room was perfect with views of the bridge and harbour also of the Queen Victoria at the overseas terminal. Staff at the hotel always very good. Made use of the club lounge including the Supper Club....

We stayed here in March for several days after a cruise to see more of Sydney. Wow! What a hotel. First class all the way. The room had a great view of the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge--and it that's not enough try the Club Lounge at the top. You can go outside on the balcony and see more...

It took just a few minutes to walk to the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay and The Rocks. The breakfasts were wonderful and a great...

The location is great - next to circular quay, the rocks , opera house, the bridge and business district along george street, ferry terminal and train station Check-in was also great and super friendly The minor flaws start to pile up though: - despite being a spire ambassador member, i got the lowest floor, overlooking an area where workers can...

I have visited Sydney for many times and lived in different hotels in CBD, and I can tell that if you want to visit Opera House, there is no hotel has better location than this one. And the staff was very friendly. The only thing that is not so great was the breakfast, which was not bad but just lackluster.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
