Beautiful hotel which everyone should experience at least once in Sydney. Check out the BluBar for cocktails if you venture out of your room. Be careful of the restaurant not doing a La Carte menu on the weekends - full degustation menu only.

The view showcases the beauty of Sydney Harbour. It was a great size room, clean and very functional. It was wonderful for my husband and I. The service was inconsistent, some people were amazing and friendly, others were dismissive. Room service was great, I would recommend getting it just to sit and enjoy the wonderful view in absolute comfort. The...

This review for me is straightforward, but it would seem that against recent trends I am writing a fairly negative review on the Shangri La, Sydney. There were obviously positives too, but I certainly did not expect the following from this brand on a booking costing $600 per night. We arrived and checked in around 0930 after disembarking from a...

We stayed here for three nights in a n Executive Grand Harbour View Room. These rooms are large and comfortable and enjoy panoramic views of the bridge and opera house. The hotel is large and was very busy and the long waits for a lift meant I couldn't award 5 stars. It seemed only two of the six lifts were...

Had heard great things on the High Tea however this afternoon was not great. For a 5 star rating hotel the Service is a massive step down. 1. Table set up for 9 instead of 10 people for 3pm 2. X2 Cocktails ordered arrived 10 min apart 3. Waiteress had dumped teapots on table not caring who had ordered what...

We stayed here as part of a pre-cruise package. The check-in process took forever as the gal we were dealing with seemed so confused by our reservation and she seemed to ask and ask fellow colleagues for assistance. When we were finally in our room it was oppressively hot and we called and requested maintenance to come up and check...

Disappointing! Don't take international guests for a so called view of a lifetime, as even when plenty of room they won't let you in. Not even for 1 drink. It's not even late. Typical Sydney power trip!

Promised a room with a view of the Opera House. Got a view but had to walk to the end of the room to see it. At the cost of $1,300 for 3 nights it was not worth it. The buffet breakfast for 2 persons was $84. The food was of average quality. One could get much better quality food...

We stayed at this hotel at the end of our cruise, Sydney is one of my favourite cities. The views over the city from our room & the bar are just wonderful. The breakfast is well worth having, we also went to the seafood buffet which was great. The only negative was the lifts that seemed slow arriving and were...

Arrival & check-in were all great as you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. Had a room on the side overlooking Darling Harbour, which was fine. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The wifi is free (Thank you to the larger chains that have finally realised this shouldn't attract an extra charge). Pretty well located...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
