My husband and I stayed one night at the Menzies Hotel in Sydney. Check in and out were both done with ease. Staff were very professional and friendly. We had a standard room which was fine for the two of us. A wide screen TV would be a good idea. The room was very clean and linen was crisp and... More

Stayed for a city mini break with 2 kids and 2 adults. This place needs a total refurb. Rooms are dated and old. Bathrooms are basic at best. The pool area smells SO strongly of chlorine that it burns your throat. The beds were comfortable enough, very soft. Rooms were clean and basic. TV is SOOO small. Terrible reception on... More

Spent 4 nights before at the Mercure Menzies in Sydney before Christmas. I arrived in the evening and caught the airport express train from the airport into the town. The Hotel is across the road from a central rail station. Check in was pain less and the staff was very friendly. The room was small and dark... Air condition was... More

We enjoyed our stay here. Room small but comfortable. Breakfast very good. Pool nice but busy and no areas were shallower for younger children. Staff were friendly. Great location - opposite Wynyard train station, near George St, about a 10 min walk down to Circular Quay. Wi-fi is expensive but get 30 minutes free in the lobby. We'd go back... More

The location of this hotel, next to Wynyard station, makes it an ideal base for business travel or seeing the city. The room was comfortable and appeared fresh and clean, however, a soiled pair of lacy lady’s briefs was left hanging in our shower (I found this a little disturbing!). Staff were very helpful and polite and were quick to... More

Perhaps the worst most soulless, yet expensive hotel I have ever stayed in. The place does not deserve the title 'Hotel' - a mess, tired and worn out - the outside was an indication of what was to come. Front porch littered with discarded coffee cups, cigarette butts, dried out plant beds, flags looking like dirty dusters, the red carpet... More

We have used The Menzies on previous occasions on our visits to Sydney, for both personal and business reasons. Generally speaking we have found the overall qualities of the hotel to be excellent and have enjoyed our stays. Conveniently located close to public transport and within walking distance of shopping and the harbour, we have always found the hotel has... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
