My husband and I stayed in one of their double rooms- just like a decent hotel with en suite, coffee and tea facilities TV table and chairs- I have to mention the view we could see both the Harbor bridge and the Opera house from our room (until a huge cruise ship came in on the second day!!). The roof... More

If you dont want to frills but want location you cant get better. The rooms are spacious and recentley renovated. I had a bathroom suit and it was basic but very very comfortable and quiet. Just be careful as sometimes there are school groups but you cant help that. There is good cooking facilities, lounge room AND roof top terrace.... More

On top of location, it's a place where u can observe a peace of history wounderfully preserved. Arrangement of beds are as so that privacy could be maintained at the time of sleeping for the room of 4 with private bathroom. Plus: Location, well desined rooms. Minus: No super stores are near.

S33°51.593’ E151°12.434’ A youth hostel on the Lonely Planet top spot of best places to stay in one of the worlds most iconic cities demands explanation, even more when all mayor hotel chains in Sydney CBD surround it. Their unhostel-like prices give it away the secret. This modern three-floor hostel - opened in 2010 - is actually a hotel without... More

Hi goyourownway Thanks for your extensive review with lots of info, but we just need to correct an important inaccuracy in your comments. New Years Eve is very popular at the hostel and bookings open earlier in the year (info on our website). There are two options that people can book - either just accommodation, or accommodation and a ticket... More

The rooms are nice and the view beautiful. Good service and friendly people. From the location you are very fast in many good spots to see different sights. You can easily go down to the water and running around the Opera house

As hostels go, this is one of the best. Very clean, well-organized, and the staff was helpful and friendly. As my flight arrived very early, I couldn't check in on arrival, but there are conveniently located lockers available in which you can store your bags until you can check in. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that my room,... More

Booked YHA Sydney Harbour for New Year. The Location was great, 5 minutes walk if that to Circular Quay which was handy for daytrips to Manly and other attractions and a bus ride to other places like Bondi. The Staff were very friendly and helpful with in depth directions to places I wasn't sure about. The room I had was... More

We booked at this facility because of its proximity to The Rocks and also because it received a 4 star rating. The room was spotlessly clean. However, there was no TV or radio and no bar fridge - had we wished to enjoy a bottle of wine, we could not have kept it cool. We had booked a twin room... More

Hi Jan Thanks for reviewing the hostel and sorry you were disappointed. This is a hostel, not a hotel, and clearly advertised as such. Therefore the facilities will not include everything you would find in a hotel room, but instead you will have access to hostel features like a large self-catering kitchen (with super large fridges to cool things). The... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
