We stayed here for a few days and we were really shocked at how nice the quality was. It was my first hostel and I loved it. I would stay here again in a heart beat. Our room was really clean and neat as well. We also had our own bathroom and shower, which was a huge plus. This location...

Location is amazing, beds are comfortable and it is very, very clean. Great option for housing in Sydney. One night I slept alone in my "mixed 6 bed dorm" with only one man whom I didn't know. This was a bit awkward and can easily be avoided, I think.

Our family room with bathroom was just right for our short stay in Sydney. Very comfortable queen bed for us and bunk beds for our boys, with our own private bathroom. The room was clean and surprisingly well equipped, including tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer. Excellent rooftop terrace and very interesting signage about the history of the site and...

I have already stayed there twice, because I loved it so much!! The roof top deck has a beautiful view, especially by night it is just smashing! The rooms are big and very modern. The facilities are clean and the staff is very helpful, doesn't matter what you want to know about the city. For me it is the place...

We have spent 3 nights at this fab hostel and loved every minute of it. Friendly welcoming staff who explained everything we needed to know. With help for early check in after a long flight, asking housekeeping to make our room priority so we could settling in earlier than normal was very good indeed. We are well travelled and stay...

This is a little Gem and my second time staying here. It's the only place you need to know in Sydney. Friendly staff, clean facilities, roof top terrace with sunbeds. And you can see the Shangri La hotel next door - There's something quite good knowing they paid a lot more for exactly the same view! I've met my best...

We stayed for two nights in a double with private bath - our second time in the Sydney Harbour YHA. The hostel is situated on The Rocks, which is just a short 5-10 minute walk from Circular Quay. The nicer doubles have a view over the opera house when it's not blocked by a cruise ship. As you'd expect with...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
