Situated in the heart of Surry Hills, Sydney, Little Albion is an eclectic mix of heritage and contemporary detail true to its own DNA and that of Surry Hills. Delightfully intimate, devastatingly gorgeous, genuinely original and refreshingly unpretentious, Little Albion features 35 guest rooms, a dedicated team of hosts on hand around the clock to offer individualised service, a rooftop garden oasis with views over Surry Hills and Sydney city and an honour bar featuring top shelf beverages and gourmet nibbles. Little Albion is housed within a unique heritage building full of history, dating back to its original construction in 1903 as a former school convent. The property was transformed into a modern boutique hotel in 2018, seamlessly merging a heritage listed building with a new world of tantalising delights and surprises, largely influenced by 1920s and 1970s styles of interiors.

Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighborhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colorful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighborhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.

I travel a lot- so finding a hotel that is homely is a joy. Little Albion is just that in a setting of historic Surry Hills. Firstly, the rooms are comfy and well appointed, if not a little small (I understand there are larger rooms so make sure to ask for these when booking!) .Gorgeous Molton Brown amenities, plush towels, crisp sheets, cute handwritten welcome note- yes ticking a lot of boxes. On level 1 is an open pantry- help yourself to fresh fruit, yogurts and T2 teas or make yourself a coffee of choice on their lovely coffee machine. Heck, you can even pack a little tray and take it back to your room with some yummy complimentary lindt chocolates. An honour bar system is in place if you want to avail yourself to the excellent wines and spirits- completed with all kinds of mixers and condiments. The hotel has no restaurant- but you can get staff to order in for you. Plenty of great restaurants nearby though. Breakfast is a light continental breakfast which I like. Some better signage would not go astray either as I found it very difficult to find and the cab drivers had never heard of it. Easy walk to central station. Cute that it has pet friendly rooms too. The staff were great and so helpful. Will be back soon I hope as it is a great little place.

Little Albion is a rarity in Sydney, so different from the big, impersonal hotels. First big plus is that it's so close to Central station, in the swanky suburb of Surry Hills that is known for its cafes and restaurants (and also a colorful past, as the artwork in this hotel will tell you). Secondly, the warm and helpful staff that will make you settle in quite easily. And third, of course, is the design of this hotel, which has that minimalist chic feel. The room does a great job in making me feel "ensconced" - the size is not that large, but beautifully designed and furnished. It has an open plan, though, so it's more suited to couples rather than workmates. I particularly loved the bath and the Molton Brown amenities. A simple breakfast is served on the ground floor, where there's also the self-serve "minibar" with premium snacks and drinks. Tried the excellent pre-mixed cocktail ("imported" from The Everleigh, no less). There's no restaurant in this hotel, but the staff will help you to order food from nearby eateries if you want to dine in. However, it's also worth exploring the area yourself as Surry Hills is home to some of Sydney's best food experiences.

We were due to be in Sydney to get married and after reading the reviews we chose the Little Albion as our hotel to be based at and also recommend to our friends and family. We were not disappointed! Wendy, Ian and the rest of the team were magnificent. The staff went over and above what was required in assisting us to ensure our big day went smoothly and was truly magical. The hotel has a great design, look and feel. If you have time, do check out the rooftop as well. The Big Albion Suite was fantastic. It was bigger than we expected and the dual shower was amazing. We also stayed in some other rooms as well during our stay, and all were wonderful. The Little Albion was a great home away from home for us. It was close to all the places we needed it to be. Our friends and family also gave great feedback about the hotel. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to stay again on a future visit.

Fantastic stay at this superb boutique hotel. Well appointed rooms, helpful staff and excellent facilities. Our dog Benny thoroughly enjoyed the neighbourhood too. Breakfast included, which was basic but more than adequate. The ‘honour bar’ is a fabulous idea with the pleasure of taking your drinks to enjoy at the rooftop garden. Perfect sundown experience.
