The staff are really pleasant and helpful, the location is perfect. We were a little disappointed with the room when we first arrived - it didn't look as good as the photos on the website....well not our room anyway! I was expecting some view but we only got a view of the back block wall so we kept the curtains... More

We stayed 2 nights in Sydney and this hotel was perfectly located. A 10/15 minute walk down to Sydney harbour, and lots of food and places to shop near. We went on a blue mountains tours day and caught our transfer from the holiday inn, just minutes away so very convenient. Breakfast want to included in our stay but no... More

We booked an apartment at the Break Free through our UK Travel agent. We had no idea what to expect as we hadn't had chance to investigate. The hotel room itself was very clean and comfortable and the small kitchen facilities were just what we needed for our 3 night stay in Sydney on our way to Melbourne. Break Free... More

Great staff - very helpful and this hotel is in a good location. However rooms are looking very tired and are in desperate need of an upgrade! However it is priced accordingly and for 1 or 2 nights you can't go wrong. The views from some of the rooms are quite spectacular and this hotel has rooms with baclonies -... More

We got room as our preferences. We asked for 2 single beds and one queen bed. We have 4 adults and one kid. After checking in, they set up another sofa bed for us. So nice of them. Great location. Right in China town. Close to food and shopping. We would recommend to friends.

We stayed at Breakfree on George on Saturday 23 January as part of a surprise birthday present for Christine. Location wise this place was fantastic, close to the Capital Theatre, and our Restaurant for the night. Check in was a breeze and the staff on duty made us most welcome. The room was just like the photos on their website.... More

This Hotel is basic but good location, Paddys market next door and China Town just round the corner, the rooms are spacious and everything you need for the price, this is Sydney if you want luxury you will have to pay for it here, there is no shuttle bus from the airport but they do a shuttle bus from the... Great staff - couldn't be more helpful. WE ( 8 of us) were travelling and staying at Breakfree on George for a wedding and unfortunately a funeral ( 2 of us stayed on for the funeral) with my frail aged mother who is in need of help with her mobility. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I had... More

The staff are friendly incredibly helpful and always there with suggestions, we tend to taxi around because it's convenient and I must say that all the places we've gone to by taxi didn't cost a lot what so ever, I was surprised.. But the staff at the hotel said to start using public transport so we thought we'd try it,... More

Just returned from a short break in Sydney for NYE where we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment at BreakFree on George. The apartment format suited us well and layout was a good size with a balcony overlooking the nearby area. The location was also a plus point as it was easy to get to most of the city on... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighborhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theater, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
