I have 4 children and was delighted that this wonderful pub could accommodate us in the blacksmith suite without us being put in Separate rooms. Very clean, comfy beds (3 double beds and one single bed!!) so all the kids slept really well. Food is delicious & the prices were reasonable & good choice on local bitters. We happened to... More

We have been in twice for a meal, cannot fault the quality, the portions for "non regulars" are not the same as the locals. I am not imagining it, it happened twice,so great pub for the locals, not quite so great for newcomers. The beer is top drawer, locally brewed ales are availlable

Since my last visit in October 2015, the Nelson has undergone a dramatic transformation under the watchful eyes of the new owners. The public rooms, bar and restaurant have been tastefully styled and decorated, giving a light, fresh feel and this theme continues into the bedrooms, most of which are found in the original stable block to the rear of... This was our third visit to The Lord Nelson and the welcome is always warm. The kids loved playing in the garden whilst we sat in the sunshine (with a glass of something cold!) with the doggies. We booked for lunch a couple of weeks ago for a party of 6 adults and 5 children. Everyone managed to find something on the menu that they wanted (all different) and we all enjoyed our food. We had a friendly welcome, there's an outside play area for the kids and lots of choice of drinks. We'll definitely be back.
