We have a caravan at nearby Springhouse Country Park and over the past four years have called in for lunch/refreshments at the Travellers Rest on a regular basis and therefore think it's time a added a review. Extensive menu and every meal is presented well and the portion sizes are more than adequate. Excellent play area and seating outside during... More

Visited this pub on 3 occasions during our one week stay at Slaley Hall. Great food freshly cooked and nothing disappointed. Between us we tried the fish and chips, steak, Thai curry, burger, duck, salmon and a range of starters. All very good and the desserts were fab & beautifully presented. Family and visiting friends all happy, would definitely eat... More

We stopped her on our way to Langley Castle for our wedding. We had my 7 year old step daughter and elderly father in law in tow. They both loved it. This is an atmospheric old pub with an interesting history, great ales, and wonderful food. Unexpectedly it also has one of the best outdoor play areas I've seen in... More

Fantastic experience in this nice pub, which has three rooms and a great restaurant!! We stayed 4 nights (hiking Hadrian's Wall), and enjoyed every evening the meals, really good breakfast (included in the price for staying) and excellent draft beer!! The staff is very nice, the owner cooks and looks for every detail. Will be very happy to come back!!!

We spend 4 days at this excellent Pub, while hiking the Hadrian's Wall. Beautiful old pub, very nice room, with all what you need! Great view from the window. We enjoyed the food every day (breakfast included is superb!!), the dinner was every day a highlight. We had to depart unfortunately one day earlier, and there was absolute no problem... More

My wife and I visited this place last month for lunch and dinner. As we were staying at Slaley Hall nearby. I wish to say that the food is one of the best pub foods you could wish to have. For lunch I had proper ham on the bone sandwich. So we thought we will return for dinner. Dinner was... More
