We spend 3 days at the Pousada Mangabeira in May, and really enjoyed it. The Hotel is away from the village on the top of a hill, with access through a elevator in the forrest. Food is very good, rooms are clean and cosy, and the views overlooking the palm trees and the beach is great. The service is also...

We have just returned from a two week stay in Brazil and our visit to Pousada Mangabeiras was definitely one of the highlights. Travelling to the island of Boipeba is a bit complicated, but it made our arrival at the Pousada that much more rewarding. The bungalows are private, comfortable, and peaceful with outstanding views. As the property is at...

Ilha de Boipeba was difficult to get to, with no flights available at the time of year we were travelling (early September, so low season) but was worth the long trip by road and speedboat from Salvador. If you have lots of time this may be worth it to save money on the flight anyway. This time of year had...

Located on the top of a hill surrounded by the Atlantic rain forest. The staff is courteous and goes above and beyond to assist you. The special bungalow offers a view to the gorgeous island and it is immaculately clean and extremely comfortable. The restaurant offers both regional dishes as well as international ones and their breakfast is fabulous, despite...

We stayed here for a week at the end of our holidayin South America. The hotel is in a superb location with its own funicalar railway to reach the accommodation from the beach. We were about 20 minutes walk along the beach to the town itself, Our accommodation was well placed to catch the breezes during the day and had...

This is a heavenly pousada on a remote island where you hardly find anything. Like an oasis in a desert, at a luxury level. Breakfast is very good and varies day by day. The bungalows are spacious and well equipped. The swimming pool is great, especially at night after a good dinner at the hotel restaurant (you need to try...

It isn't rated #1 in Boipeba without reason. We went there on our honeymoon last month. It's on the top of a little hill that overlooks this gorgeous island. Fernanda and her team take extra care to ensure you really feel like you're in paradise. The food is delicious, too. They have a quaint little wooden library upstairs that has...

We stayed 3 nights there, what a luxurious treat that was. Leandro, the owner, is the perfect host; so welcoming, generous and kind. Perfect location, breathtaking views. Gorgeous rooms , spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated. Incredible view while taking a shower. Luxurious, replenished daily, toiletries; thick towels. Most amazing flower scent throughout the property. Delightful pool. Excellent breakfast, restaurant food prepared...

the journey itself to Boipeba is worth the trip, especially the last ride by boat through the wonderful vegetation. the Pousada itself is absolutely up to european standards, well maintained, with outstanding views, nice bathrooms and good working AC. but we mostly have been impressed by the superb food (fantastic breakfast and dinner), and the friendliness of the staff (english,...

Having read so much good about Boipeba and Pousada Mangabeiras, I can only add compliments to these descriptions. The island itself is idyllic - with the most beautiful and wild beaches you can find in the world. With only 3000 inhabitants, Boipeba is a hidden gem of the Brazilian coast - the local people are still not spoiled with the...

“If you don't like air-conditioning make sure you check the ceiling fan in your room works. If you are bringing kids then the first extra bed is a real bed, the second is as hard as the floor so make sure to insist beforehand on a proper second child's bed.”
