The innkeepers lodge was clean and comfortable. I have nothing bad to say about that. But have one question: why is there a board outside saying amongst its other facilities that it’s “ free Breakfast”? I am puzzled about that one to say the least. As we had to pay for ours! Our carvery was brilliant staff welcoming. But from that time on for me it goes downhill . Breakfast was not up to previous nights standards and sorry to say. One really bad member of staff who let the place down miserably. My husband had to go twice in search of milk for his corn flakes and subsequent coffee. This member of staff almost accused him of lying when he said there was no milk in either urn on opposite sides of the room. Even then she did not bother to replenish the urns .! She made things as awkward as possible and when we departed she was standing at reception and sarcastically said “ bye, have a good day, “ in the nastiest way . So we knew she was taking the P—S! I am normally placid. But her attitude stunk. I am duty manager at a hotel myself , and I have never witness such rudeness as this. It’s the staff that can make your stay pleasant . Maybe someone with age and people skills might make breakfast a better experience?

I knew from the booking that breakfast was NOT included in the price, so I was surprised when a blackboard stated "Free breakfast, Free wi-fi and Free parking" at the entrance. When I asked at reception, the chap agreed it was "badly worded". I stayed here in Jan 2019 and was a little critical of the place but deserved a second go. I cannot fault the Carvery, but the problems arose in the morning at breakfast. There were quite a few in the restaurant but the waitress simply did not accept that there was no milk available in either of two vessels, checking for herself BEFORE handing over a 3/4 bottle in her hand to pour on to my cereal. Even then she made no effort to fill the vessels and when I asked her again for milk for my coffee, she audibly sighed as if it was so much effort. She was also by the door as we checked out an hour later, and my wife defintely detected some sarcasm in her voice when she said "Have a nice stay" but not have a nice day. Needless to stay, I will not be giving them a 3rd chance, which is a pity because it is close to my niece's place and was in a convenient location.

Have stayed here before as it is near friends we visit. Love the location as it is across the road from the train station and we can be in centre of London in about 30 mins. The Toby's carvery is very good and we enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch there. We had the continental breakfast included in the room price but it wasn't great . If you came after 9 there was little left not even a cup for coffee and things were not replenished. The room was nice and quiet at night as we were at the back , bed linen was clean and comfortable but the room was not cleaned well especially the bathroom. The check in is still a bit chaotic with everyone running round looking for keys . We will stay here again however as it is so convenient for us but they need to improve breakfast and the cleaning

Stayed here before but this time I was really shocked. Floor wasn’t hoovered, when I walked on it I could see dark hairs and dirt on my feet. In the bathroom there were men’s shavings on the sink. Along the floor was dust, when I showered I had to be super quick as the plug was so clogged the water didn’t go down. Lovely place, nice staff, but really not good quality this time.

Easy to find. Great location. Toiletries & more available. Huge TV. Comfy Beds. Late checkout. Breakfast included. Good selection of food. Free wi-fi. • Parking isn't great late afternoon around 17:00. Had to sit in the car park waiting for a space for about 15 mins. Not the end of the world but after a 6hr drive, 15 mins seemed like an eternity. A couple of reserved arrivals spaces might be a good idea. • Couldn't turn the main light off and only have bedside lights on, so it was either lots of light or total darkness. • A little noisy outside but its south london, what do you expect?!
