Hotel is situated next to Castle Loučeň. In the castle area you can find the park with many labyrinths and mazes, so it is great place for children. Our stay was marvellous, we liked the hotel building with lovely interiors, wellness with the swimming pool and very good restaurant, We had great local food "Čápy s mákem" in the restaurant and it was so tasty that we came back to restaurant once more in the same day :)
Beautiful place, beautiful facility, good food, very friendly service, close to Prague, relatively cheap prices, what more could you want. Maybe we will go there someday. Czech Republic is a coutry of many attractions, great views and the best beer in the world.
Good value for money, especially for those who want to spend quiet time in nice surroundings. Restaurant is good, and open till 23, swimming pool is not too large but good enough + sauna. Could not expect more really.
A short stay at the hotel was enough to give a peek of the qualities of the hotel. Although my stay was in essence to work at the castle which was a fabulous experience and a visit to the castle is a must for every visitor.
Vey nice and quite place, full recommendation for relax. Fantastic garden, many atrractions for kids and friends or family. Not so far from Praha nad Kutna Hora, which worth to visit be there. I dram to be back in automn time, when the trees will make the garden full of colors.
A very charming hotel in a picturesque location not too far from Prague. The rooms were a nice size, well airconned and fresh towels and linen were provided when needed. The only problem i encountered was the TV and not having any English speaking channels or Subtitles (but I cant complain too much as i was in the Czech Republic)
In all sincerity, castle Loučeň is truly something to behold. The surrounding gardens are beautiful, and in several areas they look like something straight out of a fairy tale. Along with its numerous labyrinths, the castle offers more than enough to justify the roughly one-hour drive to get there from downtown Prague. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend spending a few hours here. Unfortunately, this is where the positive feedback begins and ends. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Resort for three nights. We were there as part of a larger group of about 40 guests, all there to attend the wedding of two of our close friends. We’d booked a double room – slightly more expensive, but well worth it considering we’d be able to share a bed. Because of this we were surprised to arrive to a twin room with two single beds instead. Still, we figured this’d be easily solved by talking to the hotel staff. I went to ask the receptionist who, surprisingly, seemed quite upset that I had the nerve to bother her – how dare I, a hotel guest, pose hotel-related questions during her work hours as a hotel receptionist! Nevertheless, I threw my Scandinavian humility aside and put on the biggest smile I could muster, certain that I could make her forget about my social transgression by ensuring her the room mix-up was nothing to do with her personally, and that all I really wanted was a room with a bed big enough for my girlfriend and myself. After all, that is what we paid for. While the chat proved a bit more challenging than I’d initially imagined – since she didn’t really speak much English – after a little gesturing and drawing we eventually understood each other. Or so I thought… Turns out when I asked if we could please have the double room we booked, she thought I meant “can you please push the two single beds together to form an impromptu double bed”. While this was an improvement, sliding down between the two beds and hitting the floor wasn’t ideal. I went back down to ask again. After another round of gesturing, she finally insisted there were no other available rooms. Well, okay then I suppose. Nothing to be done about that. Weeeell…except there was. As it turned out, the hotel actually had several double rooms available, but for some reason they‘d assigned them to guests in our wedding party who’d actually booked *single* rooms. This was starting to get a little upsetting. Not getting the room you’ve paid for isn’t a major issue, mistakes happen and this was a fairly minor one. But to get the wrong room, being told by grumpy hotel staff that there are no double rooms available, only to find out later that not only are there plenty of double rooms, they’re in fact being given away willy-nilly to guests that neither want, need nor booked them in the first place, is in fact mildly annoying. As luck would have it though, we hadn’t yet reached the bottom of what Maxmillian had to offer – far from it. Please enjoy the following, abridged list of the various amenities included in our room: - not a single towel rack or peg in the entire bathroom - non-working bathroom lock, for the exhibitionist fans out there - permanent room temperature of 30 degrees Celsius or higher; because who needs sleep ever - two windows, one with the handle broken off leaving it permanently closed, the other partially broken so that it could only be opened about two inches, allowing us to lower the room temperature by roughly 0,5 degrees (for sleepy time!) - un-insulated wiring sticking out of the wall - a smoke alarm socket with no smoke alarm (about half of our wedding party had working smoke alarms in their room) - a small fan on the bedside table! …which was broken and only pointed downwards at the floor. It also gave off an impressively loud “whirrRAPP!” every two seconds. - a shower head that went no higher than 1 meter above ground level and refused to spray anywhere but directly into the wall (good thing the room wasn’t hot or anything so we’d get sweaty and need to rinse off) After two nights of increasingly sticky non-sleep, my partner had finally had enough. She marched down to the receptionist and insisted we get a room that at least held room temperature and had a working shower – and lo and behold, there was an available room after all! In fact it – much like the non-existent double rooms from before – had been available since the day we arrived! All it took was a sufficiently frightening dose of my Northerner girlfriend’s uninhibited demon-wrath. God, how I admire (and fear) that girl… The final night in the new room was actually quite nice…but I don’t think I’ll return for seconds. In all seriousness, this is the first (and hopefully last) negative review I write here on TripAdvisor. I feel a bit iffy about posting it, but our experience at Maxmillian Lifestyle Resort was so unpleasant that informing others feels like the right thing to do. In over two decades of traveling across nearly forty countries, this is the worst lodging I’ve had. Couple the details described above with fairly steep pricing, and I find it hard to make a convincing argument for why anyone should choose to stay at Maxmilian Lifestyle Resort instead of one of the many other lodgings on offer in the Prague area. With several rooms that are nearly uninhabitable, a staff that is disinterested and unhelpful at best and expert imitators of the Grinch at other times, and an atmosphere that makes you feel unwelcome at all hours, this one-star review is truly earned.…
The castle restaurant has a good chef, but a poor manager The waitress is trying, but without good management, it can not be good wait for a drink, the food and the waitress are at the bar, they devote their dinner and are not in the place to serve I would recommend the owner to start doing something The history of the castle deserves a little more care
The hotel is located in a beautiful park and is great if you would like to spend a few relaxed days far from everything else. Great value for your money. Spacious rooms. Unfortunately quality lacks all the way through for more than three stars in a review: rooms need to be updated, bathroom has rust stains in bath tub, staff not particularly friendly and their English is adventitious, the pool area is also dated.
Room was cozy and spacious. No problems with parking. The breakfast was disappointing. Poor quality of food, very limited selection. The indoor pool is outdated and not heated. The sauna wasn't working and bathrobe is for an extra charge. The private sauna zone is small, outdated and without a toilet. The hotel restaurant didn't have half the stuff, our meals were bland.
