Excellent place to stay for visiting the WW1 battlefields. Great food, rooms, host and location. Cant recommend enough. Visit Dirk's little museum whilst there and listen to his stories of WW1. Breakfast, well, enough to sink a battleship and plenty left over to make lunch. We are visiting again in 2016 and cant wait.

We spent 3 nights here as a couple. We also brought our two very small and well behaved dogs as well (for which there is an additional (per night) charge. From the welcome we got from Dirk, the apple pie that's become their trademark, to the whole experience. This place is tops for us. It's spotlessly clean, kept in great... More

After staying at Varlet Farm, I regret some other 5Star reviews I have awarded as this bed and breakfast is just outstanding. Please consider this a 51/2 Star review. If you need to stay in Flanders and want a pleasant location in which to base yourself with no parking issues, a peaceful oh-so quiet sleep, respectful treatment and a breakfast... More

We spent a very pleasant 2 days at Varlet Farm, which is an excellent base to tour the Ypres battlefields, cemetries and memorials. The warm welcome, excellent rooms, breakfast spread and packed lunches made our stay so very enjoyable. A big thank you to Dirk and Barbara.

Fantastic value for money. The accommodation is excellent and the family is friendly and helpful. The only downside is the €60 return trip to Ypres, but if you are happy to drive in yourself this, in my opinion, is the best place to stay around Ypres.

Five miles east of Ypres, slap bang on the Passchendaele Battlefield and 5 minutes' drive from Tyne Cot, Varlet Farm is the perfect B & B for anyone visiting the battlefields on the Ypres Salient. We had room 2, which was a spacious, clean double room with large shower room. In the hall outside our room was a kettle with... More

We stayed here 6 or 7 years ago while visiting Ieper and the nearby WW1 museums and sites. Returned this month with my father and brothers for a revisit. Varlet Farm has got bigger with a few more rooms, but is largely unchanged. Sadly Charlotte has left, but Dirk and his family remain. They are lovely, friendly and knowledgable about... More

I recently stayed at Varlet Farm with 3 friends, visiting WW1 places of interest. From the apple pie on arrival, the friendly owners and the excellent breakfasts, through to the high standard of accommodation this really is a hidden gem. I really cannot recommend this B&B enough. One not to be missed and very competitively priced.

Booked this B&B mainly as a result of undercover parking for my motorcycle along with my mate. Turned out to be a gem. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly, provided useful information about the surrounding area and local maps. Our room was very spacious, clean and homely. Tea and coffee making facility with a milk jug in the fridge,... More
