As part of a longer trip to revisit the old RAF bases around the Dutch/German border, myself, my two sisters and my parents wanted to call by the Tyne Cot memorial where we have family named. We were lucky enough to find this gem of a bed and breakfast for a night, and I have to admit I was sorry...

On arrival our welcome from Barbara was excellent with coffee accompanied by a wonderful slice of home made apple pie. (Excellently baked by Dirk) The triple berthed bedroom and en-suite bathroom were well appointed, clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, microwave, communal sitting area all added to the wonderful facilities available A selection of cold drinks were...

As always an excellent welcome from Dirk and Barbara. Excellent rooms, spotlessly clean. I Can highly recommend Varlet Farm. As usual breakfast also provided the makings of a pack up for lunch. This is without doubt the place to stay in the Salient.

I had the pleasure of staying at Varlet Farm again over the weekend of the 30th September till the 2nd October 2016. As before I was warmly welcomed by my host, Dirk with a slice of warm home made apple pie and a cup of tea. Checking into my room it was up to the usual excellent standard of cleanliness...

Welcomed by Dirk and Barbara, we found the table laid out ready for us with a spread of wholesome homemade food food on large platters. It look simple but by the time we had left we were full and happy, ready for the next stage of our tour of the area. The homemade bread and Dirk's own homemade jam were...

This is the forth time I have stayed there, The family of Dirk and one of his daughters Barbara are so welcoming with their Apple Tart on arrival. The accommodation is first class, and nothing is too much trouble. Such a relaxing place to stay whilst visiting the Battlefield cemeteries and memorials. WE will certainly return again, also ideal venue...

I have been to this bed and breakfast a number of times, first with my wife and very young daughter, when there were only a couple of rooms in the family house. I have returned a number of times with friends to do the WWI stuff, and have just visited with wife and two, now teenage, children. There is now,...

Stayed with Dirk and Barbara for the first time in coming on 10 years. The great thing is nothing has changed. The same great greeting, lovely cosy clean rooms and same great hearty breakfast. Always a fantastic B&B to stay at if you in in the Ypres area. Fantastic area if you are visiting the battlefields.

Cracking BnB a little to the east of Ypres, that I have stayed at before and would not hesitate to stay at again. In fact, I wouldn't even bother looking elsewhere if Varlet farm wasn't available; I'd rather change my holiday dates instead. Clean, welcoming, relaxed and perfectly located, Dirk and Barbara make everyone feel at home, including speaking excellent...
