Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
El Conquistador Resort garners a range of opinions from guests. While the hotel's cleanliness is frequently applauded, particularly the well-kept grounds, the rooms are often described as outdated and not well-maintained, with a musty odor and cleanliness issues noted by numerous travelers. The service receives mixed reviews—some guests find the staff friendly and helpful, but others encounter slow and disorganized service. While the amenities, including clean pools and a private island, are highlights for some, the atmosphere can be lively yet noisy, and many guests feel the dining and services are overpriced, affecting the overall value of their stay.

Let me start by saying I spend 200 nights a year in hotels for work and for vacation. This is the worst hotel stay I have had in my entire life. I did find out on the last day when I asked to speak with the GM, that he was let go this week. Seriously, go literally anywhere else. If I was not there for a conference that was at the hotel, I would have checked out and gone somewhere else. Pros (and there are only a few) -Gorgeous grounds and property that are mostly very well kept -Very nice meeting space and ballrooms -Event staff was gracious and very nice Cons(and there are a TON) -Chandelier fell outside inches from my husband and I. We were told by security we would get a call for follow up. It never happened even when I followed up. -Housekeeping barged into our room without knocking while I was in the bathroom and didn’t even apologize -Most staff was apathetic at best and rude at worst. Some were even downright hostile. It wasn’t just to me, I witnessed a few other interactions with other guests where the staff was rude and horrible -Rooms are dirty and in need of a serious update. No hot water in our room, balcony door rattled in the frame at every small gust of wind waking me up 10 plus times a night, mattress felt like cement, bathroom was disgusting with mold on the countertops, peeling wall bar in the in the shower that I cut myself on, shower ceiling was wet and sagging. -Walls are paper thin. We could hear the conversations next door like they were in the room -Funicular – didn’t ask to see wrist bands until day 3 and then it was like a military lock down. When asked why it was just starting, the employee refused to answer me and when I asked again she literally turned her back to me and would not respond -Palomino island boat – you have to book when you arrive and all the good times are taken. Both of their large boats are down (seems unlikely) and so they are using an outside company with fishing boats to take people over. -Shared my concerns politely and calmly to the front desk manager. She promised me a follow up call which still has not happened.

My family and I just spent 7 days, 6 nights at el conquistador and had an amazing time! The grounds are beautiful and well kept. We had no problem making reservations to palomino island (which is amazing!) and were able to go twice. Waterpark is super fun for kids but strict on 48 inches minimum height for all slides. Oats for breakfast was our family favorite! We did eat off resort at el estacion and walked to pesacito. Both restaurants were great! Dining options at resort are decent. Bono was the best. Both funiculars were working the entire time...no lines. Our room had an amazing view and spacious. A tad outdated and could use a deep clean. All in all, we had an amazing time and will be back!

Room Tip: Rent a car. Lots of excursions won't pick up there or will charge a hefty fee.

I want to give this a higher rating but cannot knowing I would want an honest review before a family vacation. Out of SIX days, my children saw the private island (which is the ONLY beach) ONE day for a few hours. Even that day was by chance bc the ferry service claimed we did not have reservations when we arrived--we made them at check in, it was the only day available, out of six--so we had to slip on as a walk on. They claimed the ferries were broken and inoperable because of Holy Week...however, they were renting from a third party. We were told they would have plenty of ferries the next week and could take 100 people over each hour, found this to be untrue from other guests. Sad operational practices for revenue. Do not visit for a beach or the private island bc you may not get there! Read the recent reviews on google maps!!

Great resort! They have the sweetest staff! Just to shoutout: Luis at Bó-no, Steven at the golf club and Efrain (might have spelled this wrong) at valet/luggage claim. They had a ton of different amenities and the private beach was probably our favorite! Some notes: double check if you need reservations for restaurants, attractions, etc.

We spent 5 nights at the resort and had a great time. The dining options and food weren’t amazing, but other than that I really have nothing bad to say. Palomino Island is awesome (snorkeling, jet skis, paddle boarding, and great food) plus tons of other cool things to do around the resort. Everything was fairly priced for a resort and walked away feeling like we got a unique, good value vacation. We stayed in the Marina and had a great view from the room. No complaints about cleanliness or service. They are still not operating at 100% due to the Hurricane Maria damage, but they are actively rebuilding and improving, so as time goes by I would only expect the El Conquistador to get better! (PS. Take a 5 minute walk over to El Pescador for dinner in Las Crobas for authentic Puerto Rican seafood.)

It was delicious in every way and Luis was great, gave great recommendations, and was pretty attentive! I’m not even a big mushroom guy but the mushroom risotto was incredible I will absolutely be coming back! We even came the night prior for dessert and drinks and the previous waiter also gave great recommendations and made us want to come back. 11/10 would come back again

Really good service from everyone. The hotel rooms really good and good temp control as well as food but the food is where I would say it is lacking but everything else was very enjoyable. The water park was very fun and the pools warm. the best restaurant was Bono’s was the best restaurant where Osbel really took good care of us.

We went to El Conquistador 14 years ago and it was fantastic. So, we came back this year. It is now awful. It feels like a cruise ship. We took our 3 kids, and got two rooms. Both rooms were so HOT. We complained for two days, but they pretty much did nothing (sent an engineer, but didn't fix anything) and we could barely sleep at night. My husband had to hack the air conditioning system, and put it in VIP mode. Basically they limit the temperature you can set it to, but in VIP mode we could finally sleep comfortably. We went to breakfast the first day we were there, and it was the WORST breakfast I have had at any hotel. The free breakfast at La Quinta is so much better. It tasted like powdered eggs, stale pancakes, tasteless sausage, plain white bread... only the fruit was decent. The bill was over $80 for the five of us. We didn't eat in the resort after that. The tub didn't drain. The door of our second room didn't fit the doorway properly, and insects and hot air leaked in. It was difficult to get a reservation to palomino island. BOTH of the resorts ferries were broken, and we could only get reservations in the afternoon when most of the water sport rentals were finished. So we only had a couple hours of beach time each day. El Coqui water park was pretty fun. We spent almost three hours there one day, and my 6-16yr old kids had a blast. But it's hard on your feet. They don't let you wear water shoes on the slides, and the floor burns your feet and the stairs are rough. My 13 year old is still complaining about her feet hurting over 24 hours later. There is a lot of walking at the resort, and the resort was beautiful. The pools were nice. The guava quesitos were good. But we will NEVER go back.
