Planned on being there 7 days and another 5 somewhere? Once there we decided to stay the whole 12. It’s perfect. The rooms are beautifully build and surrounded by huge mature plants and sitting adjacent to olive orchards. The beach is 4 mins away and the lovely port town or Corissia with groceries, baker and fishmonger along with restaurants and bars, a 10 min stroll along the beach. Kostis the owner who also runs the lodging is awesome. Funny, big hearted and knows every spot of the island. Though very a busy man this time of year, he always finds time to chat if you need him.

We stayed 3 days at Red Tractor Farm, in two garden rooms. The beds and the pillows were so comfy. We slept like babies. The air condition worked as it should, the studios were very nice, and the little kitchenette had the basic stuff. Kostis picked us up at the ferry, and showed us the important places on the island on a map. A very nice man.You reach everything in Korissia by foot. The bakery, restaurants, beaches are all within 800 metres from the farm. We didn't have a car, but the taxi service is really good at Kea and we went to a beach on the other side of the island without any problems.
We highly recommend Kea and Red tractor Farm.

Our stay at the Red Tractor Farm was a delight. We came to Kea to hike on its beautiful trails with our son who is a student in Athens. Kostis was so knowledgeable about Kea and made our hikes around the Island possible. Dicky the cat and Kostis’s dog Tibby gave our family the dose of animal companionship we needed. I cannot stress enough what a welcoming and helpful host Kostis is. We missed the acorn harvest, but left with acorn cookies, flour, and enjoyed two bottles of Kostis’s own wine. The rooms are simple and stylish. This is the best place to stay on Kea.

We stayed in red tractor for 15 days and we were three adults and a kid 5 yrs old. Our guesthouse was the Big Fish which has two rooms, two barrooms and a small kitchenette. Actually it was our second time there, we have been in a different room during Easter, for 3 days, one year ago. Due to the fact that the general impression was good, we decided to stay again for summer vacations.
The place is in a very good location in the port of the island, in a walking distance from everything (shops, bakery, supermarket, cafeteria, etc) and the houses are very nice designed (you can understand that an architect has been paid to do the job, something not very common in Greek islands). The gardens and the verandas are very nice and roomy and the view to the fields (not to the sea) is very relaxing. However I have to note the following:
1. Although the rooms are nicely decorated (without spending a fortune, mainly from Ikea) there is not enough space around the beds. In our guesthouse and also in the previous one (I think it was the vineyard studio), there is access mainly from one side of the bed and this can create a problem if you want to go to the toilet at night.
2. Especially due to the fact we have a young kid, some days before we arrived, I called the owner and asked her very gently to give a little bit more attention to the cleaning of the toilets. She assures me that everything will be ok and that there is no problem. Unfortunately when we arrived, the rooms looked like they have been cleaned a few days before and noone has done a refreshing cleaning before our arrival, for example there were dead insects on one bed, one veranda was dirty, the plates had food
remainings, the refrigerator had too much ice, maybe minor things for someone else but for me when, the small details make the difference!!! Additional to the above, the toilet was not clean (under the water level, it was black! I feel stupid that I did not take a picture because according to the owners it was not so bad). Of course I became angry and the excuses I got were that due to the fact that there is a septic tank in the farm, they cannot use chlorine for cleaning and furthermore that day they run out of the special bio cleaning liquid they have for such use, so possibly the black stains were dirt or salts from the water!!! In this point I would like to note that I do not mind what they are using BUT when I am paying 140 euros per night no breakfast included (for 15 days), I expect the toilet to be WHITE! Anyway I have stayed also in other places where a bio septic tank exists and never faced such a problem. In the end the owner told us that is ok to use chlorine (they did not have anything else to give) and of course the toilet become white. Main conclusion is that the toilet has not been cleaned and brushed properly before our arrival. Afterwards they told me that they were facing great problem with the cleaning ladies they hired and that they are trying to find someone else to do the job. In this point I have to say that no good cleaning ladies can not be my problem during my vacation and furthermore, as an owner if you know that there is such a problem, you ought to spend more time inspecting your personnel (if you do not have enough time, then do something else). Finally we came to an agreement another, local, lady to come for extra cleaning twice a week (only for us).
2. The towels did not look clean. The owner told me that they have very good washing machines but for me the result is that counts. The towels were not white; most of them had become light grey (possibly from use). Also some of the sheets have stains that cannot be removed but really I do not care, buy new ones.
3. In the rooms no a/c and tv exist. There was only two small table electric fans. Personally I do not mind about the tv but the a/c was needed during some nights when there was no wind. Additionally in order to have hot water we had to use the electricity (not a very ecological solution for such a farm!).
4. Sometimes, depending on the wind, when we sit in the veranda of our guesthouse it comes a bad smell like sheet, possibly from the septic tank or ... I do not care from where.
5. Two days before our last day we asked if it is possible to check out late. One of the owners told us that if they do not expect someone else, it would be ok and that he will let us know soon. WHEN? The last day I call at 10:00 in the morning and I have been told that we should leave at 12:00. I believe that even in the case last minute customers were expected, a good professional do not forget the previous ones.
5. Last but not least when I went to pay I told to the owner that I did not be satisfied from our stay in red tractor and his answer was that neither they did and that I have problem controlling my anger.
In general I believe that both the owners of the red tractor are much occupied with other things and have like all of us their own personal problems that make them forget that especially when people are paying a considerable amount of money for vacations, they expect to get the appropriate service!!!

There were some really lovely things about this property but sadly, not everything. We were a group of friends so rented BigFish and the top studio at Vineyard. As I personally stayed at BigFish then this is what I will comment on.
We were met at the port and had a lovely lesson in all things Kea, but that was the end of any service, questions regarding trips were asked but nothing was ever answered.
The room was OK although a mezzanine bed near the roof with no air conditioning was impossible to sleep in. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, possibly the best in 30 plus visits to Greece. So it's not all bad.
The bed linen was fine but all the towels looked well overdue to be replaced, this is not a cheap place to stay so they really do need to update at least yearly and these were much older. In fact a lot of things looked 'tired'
The outside spaces are large but due to the trees there is no view from BigFish and also no breeze so it gets very hot.
The cleaning was non existent, the regular cleaner had broken her leg so a replacement had been found, a young girl who did very little on a good day and missed us entirely once , which is never ideal when you have the toilet rubbish bag to say the least. We dealt with that ourselves.
We made the best of our 6 days but having planned this visit for many years it really was unspectacular and absolutely overpriced.

We were two adults and a 7-year old staying at Big Fish guest house.
The cottage was neatly cleaned and freshly renovated. The interior in polished Greek farm style it's magazine worth. The verandas (two) are great if having guests, there's plenty of space to sit and chat.
Too bad we came alone and felt like we did not use the place at its best.
One improvement that could be done is to give the possibility to make dark in the bedrooms. I inevitably woke up early everyday.
The island is full of fabulous beaches and some are very close to the farm, so that's great!!
The port shops and restaurants are at walking distance, which is great, too. There is the possibility to find fresh produce from the island in the morning by the port docks and in the evening by the two butchers. I wish I had known it. I spent the week complaining about supermarket food to discover only the last night that there was amazing local produce available. Next time.
My favorite thing was the farm itself. With the local acorn processing facility and the acorn cookies kitchen. Such a wonderful experience! Don't miss to taste the cookies! Nutricious and lovely, a real delicacy. My bag is full of them :)

Just returned from a week staying at Red Tractor Farm. The location is perfect, on a small working farm with vineyards and olive groves. Delightful studios (we rented two together for some extra space for our two year old), equipped with free wifi, fridges, kettles and a small kitchenette area. The studios are set in beautiful gardens with shady seating areas for alfresco dining. The owners, Costis and Marcie, were so welcoming and helpful, and their local knowledge really helped us get the best from our stay on ΚÎα. The small port town (more of a big village), Korissia, is only a ten minute walk away and has everything you need. The beach there is great for children, gently sloping with some sand, although there are also other sandier beaches very close. There are childrens' playgrounds at pretty much every beach so always something to occupy them. Local tavernas are superb and very friendly. We fell in love with the place and will certainly be visiting again next year. Oh, and for the kids, there really is the eponymous Red Tractor to sit on and pretend to drive, which was the high point of the holiday for our son!

We enjoyed 4 nights in the Stone Cottage at Red Tractor Farm. Our hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Her communication prior to our stay confirmed that she had everything under control and we would not have to worry about any details while at Kea. The cottage was ready for us. It was so nice not to have a TV and we used the fireplace a lot since the weather was windy and cold. We still had fun staying in because we played games and enjoyed the quiet. We were able to do some hikes and enjoyed the nearby beach and the restaurant that was recommended. We made most of our meals and there were two good grocers not far away. The almond cookies and the marmalade were really fantastic!

Our two days at the Red Tractor Farm were wonderful, we spent four nights in one of the cottages. The cottage was spotless when we arrived, the private garden was a perfect place to enjoy self prepared meals.
The owners provided a map of hiking trails on the island. The hike to Ancient Karthea should not be missed. A couple beautiful beaches are within waking distance of the farm.
A couple flaws:
1. Our room was not cleaned during our stay. The trash/recycling was never emptied. We did have the 'Do not disturb' tag on the door the first morning, but it was removed later that evening.
2. We paid in cash, and at the time the owner did not have change and promised to leave the 17 € in our room. We never did receive the change. We were planning to leave a tip, so it doesn't bother us too much.
The owners seemed very busy, this could explain the minor issues we experienced.

We decided on a whim to return to the peaceful island of Kea. On our last visit 4 years ago we stayed at red tractor farm and loved it. We tried booking in advance online but all the websites said it was full. As it is only a few minutes from Korissia the port, we dropped in hoping they might have a cancellation only to find to our surprise that only one cottage was occupied ! So,happily, we had a peaceful and enjoyable five days.
A word of warning, if you would like to enqire about booking go directly to the Red Tractor website, all the websites stated that they were full for some strange reason..
The bedding is very comfortable, mosquito screens on all the windows and doors so, in the spring, you can wake to the perfume of jasmine, honeysuckle lavander and roses... a cleaner comes every day and changes sheets and towels every 3 days. Swimming towels are provided.
We spent hours sitting on our balcony overlooking the olive grove and vineyard reading and writing and enjoying the peace and quiet. There is a lovely little bay with azure clear water and a small beach within walking distance, there is also a very good taverna there, right at the waters edge.
Kostis the owner looked after our every need...if you are interested in gardens, speak to him, he is a font of knowledge !
There are lots of tavernas in the harbour and two bakeries, a butchers and a supermarket.
Fish you can buy directly from the fishing boats when they come in, in the mornings.
Red tractor farm really is a haven and comes highly recommended.

I am not sure. I can recall a hotel with swimming pool not very far, but I do not know their policy for external visitors and it is not at walking distance (something around 2,5 km). You should email Red Tractor directly with your question. I am sure they will answer willingly, accurately and sincerely.
Good afternoon from RTF,
Kea is perfect for young children and the guesthouse is designed to be safe and secure.
90% of the island's shops and restaurants are within a 5 minute walk. There are many many beaches and it is always more interesting if you have a car for at least a couple of days of exploring. We have many families with young children visit and return as this is a very laid back island and farm where everyone relaxes! Please let me know if I can help with any other information, Marcie
the Guardian lists RTF as one of the top 10 Greek destinations for families with young children. I cannot include the link here but it is easily Googled!
The port town of Korissia is on the opposite side of the beach that our farm road leads to. The village is a short walk down a narrow lane and then across the beach. Our neighbor rents bicycles another fun way of getting around.
