We have stayed several times at a similar hotel nearby and had high expectations of the Son Claret. Happily we weren't disappointed and the hotel exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived we knew we had chosen well. On a very hot day we were offered damp face cloths to refresh ourselves after our taxi ride from our previous hotel near Palma and freshly made lemon squash made on the estate. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped and overlooked the lovely gardens at the front of the hotel. Breakfast and dinner were served outdoors and the very attentive restaurant staff ensured we had a table with the best of views. The food on offer was of the highest quality, so we were exceedingly happy with our menu choices. Our only regret was that it was too hot to take advantage of the estate walks. All we could dp was sit on comfortable loungers round the pool and take the occasional dip to cool off! Maybe next time it will be a little cooler so that we enjoy the estate walks.…
The entrance says it all: you are arriving at a country palace. The setting is very unique: a beautifully restored castle in the valley surrounded by picturesque mountains. 10-15 minutes from beautiful beaches with white sand, 25 minutes to Palma, 35 minutes to the airport. The grounds are immaculate and perfectly maintained. Place feels like a boutique vineyard hotel. The rooms are spacious and modern with very comfy beds and excellent rainfall showers. The pool, while not heated, is stunning and large. Booked through Amex FHR, received the early check-in and food/beverage credit, although no upgrade. Great value all in with regards to price. The staff is very polished, friendly, and attentive. Whatever you need, they handle without delay. We came without too many plans and the front desk was able to give us many different options for restaurants, beaches, or places to see with pros/cons for each. Also, when we had a slight leak in our bathroom sink faucet (which ruined a toiletry or two), we alerted the front desk and they sent someone over to fix it right away (and it was fixed). First class service all around. The food is incredible at the hotel. The breakfast is a nice spread. Olivera for lunch or dinner offers a wide menu (the Moroccan Lamb tagine was unreal). Sa Clastra is worthy of its michelin star. The wine list is very large and diverse. A must stay in Mallorca!…
Currently staying in this gem of a hotel we were debating whether we should publish a comment. After coming back year after year (sometimes several stays), we wanted to keep this confidential. But alas, in the reign of Instagram there is no more confidentiality. So we wanted to set the record straight. Don't even consider nasty comments. If you are looking for laid-back luxury, beautiful surroundings, good food, good wines, a great bar and fantastic rooms, this is the place for you. The best leisure luxury hotel in Europe, period. Not on the beach?, who cares, the setting on the outspring of the Tramontana mountains is amazing. If you are looking for beach club type party hotels like W, Nobu or "5star luxury all inclusive", please skip this fantastic place. All other hedonist and well-traveled culture-minded enthusiasts please come. Don't be deterred by comments that bemoan the fact that Son Claret is not adults only. Children and families are a part of life and effectively everyone is welcome here. Unruly, screaming kids are not the hotel's fault but rather the result of their parent's dysfunctional education. The biggest asset (it is modest in size) is the quality of the service. Starting with the front desk team, the porters, the F&B team, the barmen, the housekeeping, everyone goes out of the way to please and to make you feel as if you were family. This level of genuine friendliness (this is definitely not a "have a nice day" team) is rarely seen in the hospitality business. We have been there through the pandemic and even then the experience was heartwarming and relaxing. Finally, we know that that level of perfection takes years of discipline, training and perfectionism to achieve. Kudos to the management and the director B.S.. This level of feel-good vibes is usually the privilege of top level Asian luxury hotels. In Europe this is one of the only hotels to reach that level of perfection. For us it's the best Thank you to you all at Castell Son Claret…
Our first stay and we loved it. The hotel is set at the foot of the Tamuntana Mountains, deep in the countryside. If you are looking for peace, quiet and relaxation, then this is what you're after. Loved that they use so much fresh local produce in the restaurants and even after a week I felt so much healthier from just from eating breakfast and the occasional evening meal in the hotel. The staff are super-helpful, engaging and very friendly. Special mention to Jerome, Mark and the lovely Dutch lady who's name we didn't get. Our suite, which contained a small pool, was very spacious and comfortable and kept immaculate by the housekeeping staff. If I have one gripe it's that they allow small children to stay. All it takes is one little 'darling' running around between the tables at breakfast to spoil the relaxing atmosphere, and it's very annoying when toddlers start to grizzle and create a fuss during the evening meal because they should be in bed by then. A policy of no children under 14 years would sort this out.…
Disappointing. Staff were aloof and occasionally disinterested and painfully slow and (with the notable exception of Jerome the maitre d, Roberto the bar tender and their team), lacked warmth and sincerity. Lack of female staff probably doesn’t help in this respect. We arrived the same day that the hotel was hosting an outdoor opera and dinner event, only to be advised that the event was sold out and that the hotel restaurants were closed that day. Not great for a hotel in the middle of nowhere. The staff did not offer to make reservations at local restaurants or even recommend any good local restaurants (there are none). Bread is very good though!
We loved this hotel! It’s in a national park so the grounds and views are amazing. The pool area is lovely and family friendly (probably more towards family than couples). The food was great and the service impeccable with super friendly staff. A truly relaxing stay :). It’s also not far from the different ports / palma by car so well located if you want to go out for dinners / lunch. We stayed at a couple other hotels in Mallorca and this was definitely our favourite.
We have stayed at Castell Son Claret twice now and hope to return later this year. The service, facilities, dining, rooms are all excellent and the outdoor dining terrace is just beautiful in the evening. It is our go to place when we want to get away without the children!
The castle is magnificent on approach with beautiful gardens and an impressive drive. The management are slightly cold and not very friendly. They are efficient and certainly not rude but there is no warmth in the welcome. This makes for a slightly intimidating atmosphere in which one feels uncomfortable asking for something. Unfortunately we were given a room (apparently an upgrade) with very little storage space which was overlooking the outside dining area. If I wanted to hang my bikini or towel out to dry, all the diners would be viewing it. We decided that we could not tolerate this room, so upgraded to a room with a terrace and more storage. This was in one of the outer buildings which was much more private and pleasant. The decor of the room is not to my taste although it is harmonious. It is very brown and outdated. The bathrooms are large and the finish everywhere is extremely expensive and well executed. However the marble floor is very slippy in the bathroom when wet and I fell over, luckily without hurting myself, but it could be very dangerous. The dining is reasonable, although there wasn’t much on the menu that appealed. Having said that, I was advised to have the sole which was very good. The dining area is beautiful and very pleasant to sit in with a view of the mountains and the swimming pool. The swimming pool area is absolutely lovely. It is well equipped with really nice loungers and the pool attendant could not be more helpful. PS. The drive over the mountains to Port d’Andratx was stunning. …
Everything about this hotel is perfect, the setting couldn't be more stunning - surrounded by countryside & mountains, peaceful but close to Andratx & the port for lunch/dinner. The building is a fairytale castle set in impeccable gardens. The restaurant serves light healthy food & the service is wonderful! The Pool Suite is a dream - we honestly wanted to move in! Thank you to Björn for your lovely welcome! We will be back as soon as possible :)
A journey to perfection. Driving through the nice country side we reached the beautiful site of Castel Son Claret. The spectacular entrance led us up an alley and we parked the car in the shade of ancient olive trees. We then walk up to the Castel going through magnificent gardens surrounded by the music of nature, running water and the scents of the flowers and trees. Like a taste of Eden. We reached the impressive old Finca were the staff great us under the Porch. Moving to the pool side we first enjoy a drink in the garden. Special mention to the very professional and knowledgeable bar tender who introduced us to very nice and creative cocktails, blending and balancing all the specific tastes from the island. Food at the table was superb with all fresh products from Palma, cooked and presented at perfections. To accompagne the meal we had very nice Callet wine, unique to Mallorca. Service was utmost friendly and impeccable. To summarize it a lovely and relaxing evening out, far away from the noisy coastal places.…
