Nestled in a prime location with convenient access to local towns and airports, Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa boasts beautiful beaches and a selection of pools, although some guests suggest there's room for improvement regarding lounge chair availability and common area updates. While the resort's cleanliness is generally applauded, certain spots could benefit from better maintenance. The atmosphere is described as lively and welcoming, despite mixed reviews on entertainment and seating. Service is typically regarded as friendly and attentive, but not without occasional lapses. Room comfort varies, with some air conditioning issues noted, yet many rooms offer pleasing ocean views. However, the resort's value proposition has been questioned, with some travelers expressing concerns over costly extras and inconsistent pricing.

We were fortunate enough to stay at the Dreams for the first time this past February 2020. With a quick drive over from the airport we arrived at the resort with service awaiting our arrival. Without even having to lift a finger, our bags were unloaded, whisked away, and were checked into our room at the front desk. The front house staff was extremely warm and welcoming as if this was our 5th time returning. We were notified that we had a partial ocean view and were in the 3rd main building. The ocean breeze was flowing throughout the whole open concept lobby as we headed to the lobby bar to have our welcome drink. Once we were ready to head to our room to check out our home for the next few days, we were amazing that our partial ocean view, in my opinion, was a full ocean view from the 3rd floor. The rooms were clean, spacious, and fully stocked with everything that we needed. Our first night we ate at the buffet. As travelling with a tween and myself, there were many options for us to choose from. We always seemed to be able to find something to have and the staff were always welcoming and ensuring our glasses were always topped up! Alma in the buffet was an absolute delight and one of our favourites within the restaurant. She remembered who we were, where we liked to sit, and what our room numbers were like we have been seasoned folk. The pool side is where we spent most of our days, overlooking the ocean waves while lounging in the infinity pool. The beach was steep but very spacious. It never seemed to be overcrowded, but chairs did fill up very quickly for chairs for both beach and pool side. The food highlight of our trip however was our night at the Italian restaurant. Julio deserves more stars than I am able to give. He goes above and beyond and really made our experience one of a kind along with the rest of his staff within the restaurant. My daughter tends to be a bit picky and ensured her that he would make her whatever she wanted even if it wasn’t on the menu. She had a huge smile on her face which always makes a happy mother bear. Although our trip was shorter than normal would have been, it was a wonderful experience that would make me choose the Dreams Huatulco again!

This was a perfect holiday. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. We snorkeled at least three times a day. We saw puffer fish, angel fish, a turtle, and a few stingrays among many other types of fish. The food in the buffet was always fresh. We were impressed that the meat and fish was raw on ice until you ordered it. We tried Oceana restaurant and the Asian restaurant. Both were very good. The hotel, the rooms, and the grounds are very clean. Everyone was so polite and helpful. Beds are comfy, showers were good, rooms were quiet. Not much entertainment in the evening which really surprised us. The only thing that really bothered us, was the fact that you have to be out on the beach or by the pool by 7 AM to save your chairs if you want to have a seat under an umbrella. If you are going to save a chair, be sure to actually use it. I could not believe how many people save chairs and don’t actually use them all day. Other than this small issue, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We actually can’t wait to get back. By the way, if you’re not interested in the vacation timeshares, just say no thank you!

We had a very good time at the resort, we were there with our adult children, and younger grand-children.

The resort was respectably clean, some areas a little dated, but overall seemed to be in very good condition.

Credit cards are accepted, there is an outdoor bell hop station to help with baggage, and for summoning taxi's to the resort. The gate/gates to the facility are manned 7 X 24.

They do have a currency exchange at one of the front desk positions, and ironically, we got a better rate from the desk, than we got back home.

There are desks in the front lobby area for booking tours, and as you expected, desks to sell vacation/time shares.

The room was a little dated, but in good condition, and very clean. Small 27" screen in our room, a nice 48" screen in our kid's room....a little jealous about that...

Toiletries provided each day, the room was kept spotless, and there was a small mini-fridge loaded with water bottles, soda, and beer, replenished daily.

Our room was right outside the pool area, incredible view, but, as we found out later, also close to the stage, and the loud music played there at night. But, luckily for us, the management told us the music stopped promptly at 11:00 PM, and they were correct. After all, it is a beach resort...

Pools very nice and clean, open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Wait staff will circle the pools serving drinks, and there is a coffee/Baileys and mimosa cart that circles the pools in the morning.

Most of the restaurant information you can find online, the food was good/great, and the buffet was OK/good.

We thought it was a good resort, and we would definitely go back again.

There are a couple of kids pools, small/medium size, and medium/large size kids pools, with varying depths, depending on the size of your child.

Try it out, you will like it, airport is only about 20 min from the resort.

Be safe, have fun..

We spent Christmas week at Dreams Resort in Huatulco. First off let me state that the covid-19 protocols were far superior to Canada (where we live) & also Jamaica (visited in Sept 2020). The service was excellent, from check in to check out, every single staff member we interacted with were extremely courteous & always willing to assist. Julio thx so much for the amazing Spanish coffees & the special lobster dinner at Portofino; Genre you made dining at the Oriental Restaurant a pleasure – the blackened salmon & grilled shrimp were delicious! The World Café (buffet) had a wonderful assortment of food daily, service was always spot on- in particular we would like to mention Majo who always had a smile & went out of her way to make our meal great! There are 5 pools, 2 that are adult only which was strictly enforced by hotel staff (security & life guards). We took advantage of the 2 for 1 price available at the Spa & had massages. Mya & Edith – best massage we have ever had (which is countless) Noel - was a fabulous host, walking us through the thermal Spa prior to our massages. We did not take any tours, instead we hired a private boat to take us for a ½ day of sightseeing for $200 USD. The captain Roberto (we met on our beach) & his son Oscar did a fantastic job keeping everything sanitized & making sure we enjoyed every single moment. We saw dolphins, 3 whales, huge gold turtles, puffer fish & a large manta ray all in one morning. SPECTACULAR! Highly recommend this Resort!

The service in all areas was great, if you needed something you just had to ask for it.
We asked for an umbrella by the pool and they were quick to get us one, we asked for guacamole and that arrived promptly. Staff were friendly and hard working and eager to please.
The room and grounds were very clean, a few tiles in the hallways should be replaced but generally speaking everything wonderful.
The best part for me was the beach as the water was warm and waves just right to get in and out easily. Service at the beach and pool was great. Adult pools were adult and I didn't see any children there as they had their own areas. Yes people put towels out early but most of the time we could find a spot.
I have a few recommendations for the buffet, they are: add an small space for pizzas where you could add your own toppings, have a roast or turkey with someone slicing it, have a great Mexican guacamole at all times,(people had to ask) a lot. A cheese plate of different cheeses, and desserts that are not so dry.
I would bring more pesos next time, as it would make it easier for vendors.
I would recommend Dreams to my friends.

I escorted a group of 110 people to Dreams Huatulco last week,
40+ of them had been here before. Myself included.
Service was stellar. Rooms amazing. Even some of the tropical view rooms have an ocean view.
I had an oceanfront which was spectacular! (3439)
Restaurants all good. I didn't eat at Mexican, but did have a few complaints about that one. Japanese,Italian ,Oceana, & Seaside Grill were amazing!
Some of my group did a deep sea fishing trip & Seaside Grill cleaned & cooked their dinner for that evening!
I held a cocktail party for the group which was outstanding!
Concierge services fixed minor issues within mins.
Celeste from concierge services was my go to person. She was awesome! Loved her! Group dept was great as well.
Isabel, my room attendant (maid) was outstanding.
Wish I had names of my fave waitress & bartender(s) during the day. I worked every morning on my laptop overlooking the gorgeous view & they took care of me from start to finish.
Bartender in the preferred club was awesome as well on the few evenings we visited.
Every single person in my group had an amazing time at Dreams Huatulco. It will definitely be a repeat! Most likely next year at same time.
I hope to come back sooner as a tourist!
Highly recommend this resort for families, couples, singles.

After being recommended this resort from our travel agent for my family we decided to go to dreams last week with myself, my husband 2 young daughters and mother in law for a week and just returned. We had big expectations going in and were let down big time. The food was not good at all, and the buffet food was always cold. The only good meal we had was at the Italian restaurant. We all got very sick 2 days in. The selection of food at the buffet was not big at all and the selection of food for kids was small, my youngest didn't eat anything but french fries for the week.
There was very limited entertainment on the resort which made it very boring for everyone. At least have some music playing at the pools. The only thing that saved this vacation for my kids was the kids club activities.
The service for drinks was fairly poor, no matter how much we tipped for every drink no one ever came back to us at the pool or Beach to offer us anything.
The wifi is fairly non existent throughout the resort, it cuts out all the time even in your room or lobby.
Lastly and most importantly the tile floors are in very bad shape with loose and cracked tiles. It is so dangerous that if I kid were running and tripped on one they would forsure split their foot open! They need to have someone looking for these things and fix them instead of waiting for an accident to happen

While I can say the rooms were clean and most of the people we dealt with were pleasant, we would never return here. The amount of money we spent was not worth it and in my eyes this place is equivalent to a 3 star in Cuba.

First the positives - this resort is in a stunning locations and has some of the most friendly, courteous and hard working staff I have ever encountered. The facilities are of the highest quality, with large well appointed bedrooms and public areas.
It does however fall down on two key aspects for me.
1) Unless you rise before 6.30 am you are unlikely to get a beachside pool bed or a beach sunbed adjacent to the beach bar. There are several charter flights that serve the area direct from Canada and USA, and these high tippers seem to monopolise these areas. Beds are either reserved for whole groups by one individual or by pool/beach attendants. The same individuals seem to be able to have the same beds for days on end. What is even more galling is that many are still unoccupied mid morning.
The management quite clearly need to get to grips with this, and I understand they are reluctant to enforce their 30 minute rule, but perhaps they could move to an allocation system introduced by many European Resorts. Here they reward those who have paid the considerable premium cost for the highest rated rooms with the option to choose their sunbed location.
There is also a need for more sun umbrellas as these are a necessity.
2) The resort advertises six restaurants. In reality there are two main restaurants (World Cafe & Seaside Grill), these are open every night, the former being wholly buffet service. The other four restaurants are all superb, but on any one night only one or two of them are open.
On our last night, we opted for the Portofino, only to be told when we arrived, there would be a long wait for the two of us as they had five very large parties dining. After over an hours wait we gave up and dined elsewhere. A great shame on our last night
Again whilst I appreciate the no reservation policy, I do believe a restaurant should not accept large parties (10 + individuals} at the expense of all the other guests. Large parties, by definition are there for the night.
Again perhaps the management could introduce a policy whereby parties of say over 4 should have to reserve a table, enabling couples and smaller groups to enjoy their chosen restaurant.
This is a good resort, but so easily could be a great one.

Dear Jonboy, thank you so much for sharing with us your insightful comments and glowing photos on your recent stay at Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa. Your review will certainly provide useful information to us and other potential guests who, like you, are detailed orientated individuals who are looking only for the best whilst vacationing. By sharing your observations on a few areas of opportunity with us, we'll be better able to make those improvements that will result in better supervision of sun lounger areas to help us reinforce our policy that prevents reserving lounge chairs or rethink strategies in this regard. On the other hand, we tell you that our a la carte specialty restaurants are assigned to operate during dinner hours, we always have options in operation according to the level of occupancy, and these restaurants rotate so that all our guests can enjoy them. during their multiple days of stay. We appreciate the faith that you expressed at the end of your comment, it is true that all hotels always have to tend towards continuous improvement and of course, we are not the exception, we will always strive to improve ourselves day by day oriented towards excellence. You can be assured that we will continue to place ourselves at your faithful service for all your needs and requests. Adrián Bohorquez eConcierge Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa.

With the exception of a few small issues like pool towels not being delivered to preferred rooms, spotty wifi and a shortage of face clothes the rest was spot on! Food was delicious with many options. Lasagna and Mahi Mahi are fantastic. The staff were very professional and eager to help. Eddie (Porky) and his brother Baby Porky were fantastic by the pool. Rogelio in the World Cafe was amazing as well always making sure his staff were helping guests promptly and keeping the entire room clean and inviting. Ps. The toaster is not there anymore but you can order toast from the wait staff and they will bring to the table. This was our 3rd trip to Dreams in Huatulco and we were very happy with our stay. They do their best to ensure covid protocols are followed and most guests seem to follow as well.

Don't forget to drop a few tips for great service as these folks have been without work for a while and 20 pesos is enough to bring a brighter smile to their hard working faces. 🍻

It was my 5th time back at Dreams Huatulco for our wedding and like a always everything was great! I can't say enough good things about the resort, the weather was perfect, the resort and rooms are extremely clean. We will be back again over our anniversary next January. I want to keep this short and sweet and give a shoutout to Sandy (wedding planner) absolutely amazing to work with, the wedding itself was perfect and I wouldn't have changed a thing. The morning of my wedding day I woke up and could not move my neck and was in a lot of pain, she worked her magic and was able to squeeze me in at the spa for a massage. Laura and Freddy (Adventure photos) also amazing, the photos and wedding video turned out perfect, Luisa (hostess in World Cafe) it was great to see her again, as she had remembered me and my entire family from previous years. It was nice to catch up and say hello again! Julio (Portofino restaurant) thank you SO much for your service making spanish coffee for our wedding reception. Julio spoke to his managers to change his schedule to be there for us, as we love our spanish coffee!

There was only two things I noticed again during this trip that could use a bit of attention. The first is the coffee station outside of the World cafe, it seems like there is either cold coffee or no cream available. This is not a huge deal, but just means you need to go up to the Coco Cafe to get a coffee in the mornings. Also second, the chairs at the main pools need to be addressed. In order to attempt to get chairs at the infinity pools we had to be up close to 6 am every day. It was upsetting to see that people would get up before 5 - 5:30 am am throw some towels on chairs, and then not show up for 4 hours to use their chairs. I know there is signs out by the pool stating the 30 minute rule, but people do not have any respect for these signs. I really hope to see an improvement next year when we are there. I do not mind if people get up early and are by the pool early, but when other guests are reserving these chairs and not showing up for hours and then the staff dont do anything it is quite frustrating. There should be consistency with enforcing these rules.

Dear lindsaybezb: It was a great honor for us to be named as the dream setting for your wedding, and equally pleasing knowing that you felt that the entire experience was handled professionally and concluded seamlessly. Mostly thanks to the professionalism of Sandy and the entire work team, who day by day strive to provoke unforgettable experiences to all our guests. On the other hand, as repetitive clients of our hotel, your comments are a true source of feedback because you better than anyone know our concept. We look forward to welcoming you in the near future and hopefully, you will notice the improvements made since your last stay and you will think of us as the right place to be pampered. See you soon. Sorry. Just got this. The only restaurant that had a strict dress code was the Italian. Most places pretty casual.

Your best bet would be to send an e-mail directly to the hotel. Should also ask them if the have extra beach chairs added at the beach. That part is not to good.

Do they use real/good juice in their drinks ?

No! We found the drinks caustic. I was looking forward to a nice margarita, but they use some sort of fake lime juice and sugar mixture. I even asked them to make me one with Jose Cuervo, Grand Marnier and Fresca so I didn't have their fake stuff. But they didn't have Grand Marnier at the bar I was at, so that idea bombed. We had good margaritas off the resort in La Crucecita and Santa Cruz. With limes in such an abundance, I do not understand the fake stuff. One time I asked for a gin and tonic and they said they ran out of tonic so they gave me gin and soda with a few limes cut up in it. You need to ask for the 'good' alcohol or you will get the cheap stuff. I would order a mojito 'not too sweeet' so that they didn't load it up with the sugar mixture.
