We booked a 7-day stay at this hotel two months in advance. We expected a way better quality in their service and their food. First of all, the main buffet was very limited in food, the taste and quality of food was very disappointing, the had very limited selection of food for small kids; we never struggled for food choices for our kid and this time we had a hard time with the limited selection. Pool: They don't allow food in the pool area, REALLY??? I never experienced this in the past at any beach resort ( I am comparing my past experience to Riu Palace, Pueblo Bonito, Hyatt Ziva, Iberostar, and Majestic). This is very disappointing since it's very inconvenient to get out of the water, leave the pool area, and go to a restaurant to get food. Location: the location was perfect and about 20 mins from the airport. Room: we had a partial ocean view room with two double beds. The beds and pillows are very uncomfortable. By the way, our room was missing a smoke detector. Overall hotel condition: the property grounds are nice and clean. I did noticed some loose and broken floor tiles throughout the hotel in the hallways areas, in some cases with sharp edges that can be a safety hazard since lots of guests are walking in the sandals. I also noticed roof leaks in the hallways and loose hand railing facing the ocean on the 5th floor (huge safety concern). Get this fixed ASAP... Customer service: I think there is some room for improvement in this area. …
This hotel needs a lot of TLC and leadership training for their management staff. My mom arranged a family vacation for 52 people for my dads big 60th birthday. Unfortunately it was nothing like what we expected. My entire family was disappointed. My mom worked and family worked so hard to put this vacation together and make it special for my dad. My mom was working with a coordinator by the name of Eulices which failed her miserably and flaked on my mom. To leave major details out and make this short, my mom was only able to successfully reach Eulices twice before the big event to strategize and coordinate event details. When we got there the coordinator had nothing prepared, and the day of was nothing but a nightmare and disaster, nothing was accounted for or booked in time and the the event was a fail. But of course Eulices still charged us for the entire event beforehand, even while knowing he had nothing coordinated. The restaurants food is not great, their and rules, procedures are contradicting and so controversial. Men are not allowed to wear certain clothing and will deny service if not properly dressed to code. One of their restaurants in particular, Portofino, requires men to wear dress pants, dress shirts and dress shoes. And a mask is required on excursions during different points of the excursion and sometimes some staff require it while going into the resorts cafe, restaurants, and shop. Service is also very slow and it really just depends on the staff that waits on your table, some are great, but it's a hit or miss. We tended to tip a group of waiters everyday a large amount to tend to our large group seemed to be the trick same for restaurants. Pools are also not very clean, as well as public restrooms. Hotel is very outdated, rooms are not that great, and they did not allow for check in till 3pm so all our baggage was left for public to see and have access to since it was left at the entrance, we arrived to the hotel at 10am, so we had to wait a long time. Not to mention all exclusive didn't kick in till 12:30pm. All in all i would advise to spare yourself money and time and visit another local hotel, I would not trust their sister hotels either.…
Dreams Hotel Resort and Spa is the best place to visit!! I have celiac disease and they did an amazing job at making sure what I was eating was safe. For breakfast the restaurant manager Roqellu Valle and his chef, Jesús Luna did an amazing job at accommodating for me!! Julio who is also a manager went above and beyond for my family and I as well. Overall this place is amazing!!
This hotel is so out dated and needs remodeling, ASAP. The amount of money I paid to stay 7 days was ridiculous for the horrible condition this hotel was in. Put it this way...Part of the ceiling inside the lobby fell. My room had a huge leak and my room's phone was missing buttons (you could literally see inside the phone). Tile was missing everywhere around the hotel, such a hazard. My family and I had a horrible experience with the hotel's Marketing coordinators - they scammed my family and I of $5k for my father birthday party (horrible experience - pls do not book any events here). Oh...Be prepared to bring the proper clothing, they do not let men or women into any of the hotel's restaurants without a coverup (specifically men - they will need to wear T-SHIRTS with SLEEVES! THEY DO NOT ALLOW MUSCLE SHIRTS) still blows my mind. I slacked on my research this time around, so I hope this review helps someone who is looking into staying at this hotel. I wish I would of seen a review like this one to avoid this experience - if I would known better, my family and I would of spent my dad's birthday trip elsewhere. I can humbly say I've definitely stayed at better quality "5" star hotels in Mexico.…
Tangolunda Bay is outstanding beach area. The resort staff are go extra mile to ensure a pleasant vacation. Good variety of food, entertainment is good but could use more at night. The shows are few but enjoyable. The rooms/beds are very comfortable and spacious. Lots of soft sand and shoreline and lots of pool area and many with great views of the ocean. Ask for Julio and graciously request he makes Spanish coffee. Nearby town of La Crucecita is definitely worth a visit and very safe to walk around day or night. The following staff made a great vacation even better.. Alejandra / Neff (events), Crison (lobby), Roberto (UVC), David (poolside), Restaurant servers...William, Giovanni and Hugo, Bar servers...Jack, Jesus and Enrique. Coco Cafe...Fernando and Bellman...Eleazar. Would definitely go back to the Huatulco area. The resort needs few more beach chairs, wifi is in need of help and the bar needs consistency with taste of mixed drinks, along with new blenders to mix the frozen drinks.…
Excellent all inclusive hotel, lots of choices when it comes to food. Plenty of bars, and entertainment. The room was very spacious and comfortable, not to mention the jacuzzi in the balcony. Would recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Huatulco.
Dreams Huatulco March 2022 In March 2022, seven of us (grandparents, parents and grandchildren) stayed for one week and the grandparents stayed for two weeks at Dreams Huatulco, Preferred Club rooms. First of all, the covid protocols practiced by the hotel are first rate. Staff are always masked and many guests are too. Sanitizer is readily available. Staff wearing gloves serve at all buffets stations. In spite of covid, we felt that appropriate measures were taken at all times, to protect all guests and staff. Covid protocols are as good as or better than back home. We (i.e. grandparents) have been to Dreams Huatulco previously, as well as the sister resort, Secrets (adult only), a few kms down the road. Both resorts are highly recommended and we plan on visiting again in the Fall. It is the excellent weather, great beach, wonderful hotel and above all, the superb staff that keeps us returning to the area. Although the Preferred Club rooms are a little more pricey than the regular rooms, we feel that there is good value with the extras offered by Preferred Club (e.g. direct ocean view rooms, separate lounge). The hotel rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the entire resort is well maintained. There is a good variety of restaurants/bars/coffee shop at the resort and we did not find any of the meals repetitive, even after two weeks of being there. However, due to covid, the outdoor theme dinners (and some other elements) were not available and we did miss them along with the opportunity to mix with other guests in a congenial atmosphere that the outdoor theme dinners offered. But, covid has caused us to make many adjustments to what we had in the past. Above all, it is the staff that make you feel welcome and at home. There were so many people who helped make our stay enjoyable and I apologize for forgetting the names of some of them, but the names of the folks that I do remember are: • Lilibeth, Nelson, Julio, Galdino in Portofino • Luisa in Oceana • Genaro in the Preferred Club lounge • Luis, concierge • Jose • Arturo Marco & Arturo Jose; waiters for a birthday dinner for my son Special mention goes out to Adrian, the econcierge who was instrumental in arranging our accommodations to best suit the seven of us and who helped us with many other little “things” to make our stay more enjoyable. We also like to thank the waiter, who the night the parents went to Portofino for a romantic dinner on their own, served the grandparents and grandchildren in the World Café. He was most attentive and arranged special food for us to make our dinner unique. He also served us the next night in El Patio and regrettably, I forget his name, but not his kind heart. We also thank the many staff who helped stage a special surprise birthday dinner for my son. The service, table setting, meal and beverages were wonderful. Everyone looks for certain things when they travel. Dreams Huatulco checks all the boxes for us and we look forward to returning soon.…
This is probably my favorite destination so far. Totally different vibe from other places we have been in MX and the Caribbean. It was my first stay at an AMR resort, and will be my last. The resort in my opinion is just average. Certainly not up to par with the resort brands we usually stay at. We didnt go hungry, but the food was pretty blah. The best night of food was the BBQ night that they did the special event outside. We were convinced it had been catered as it was so much better than the previous 6 nights. They did have shows every night in the theater, but they never started on time and the energy at the shows was not as upbeat as i hoped. Check in was frustrating. I realize check in isn't until 3pm,but everywhere else we've gone, if the room was ready and we arrived early we could go to room right away. Not at Dreams, we had to wait 4 hours until exactly 3pm. Then it took another hour for our luggage to be brought up,and another 2 hours after that for our crib to arrive. Very disorganized. The way they do the covid testing is disorganized as well. We had an appointment time for our test, and still ended up waiting 45 minutes for the test. When we went to Riviera Maya in Dec it was like clockwork and took no longer that 10 mins from start to finish. The drinks were ok. I tried ordering drink that are on the app and they had no idea what i was talking about. Pretty much stuck to the basics after that. I booked a massage, as I do at every resort. It was the worst massage I ever experienced. I kept telling her relaxing massage, not deep tissue. It's 2 weeks later, i am still going to a chiropractor from it. One thing i did appreciate was how David who works there was very on top of things, especially at the pools. He was constantly removing towels from chairs that were being saved. My favorite thing to do was to wake up early and enjoy the view from the infinity pool. It is amazing, and the pool didn't get crowded until about 9am. As mentioned, this resort isn't bad persay. Its just not up to par with the standards that i am accustomed to, and does not have that wow factor. I would not recommend. Please feel free to ask questions.…
We were visiting from April 23-30, 2022 after a much needed vacation after this huge disruption of over 2 years of Covid. Watching the Web Camera at Tangolunda Bay just increased our anticipation of travelling here once again. Everyone so friendly as our 5 previous stays here were. No obvious changes at the resort other than servers at buffet dishing out your preferences, and mask wearing in the buildings until you sit at your table for meals. Even outdoor bars request masks when serving your drinks. I also encountered David out at the pool area. Such a pleasant person keeping over extended saved seats to a minimum. What a talent trying to keep everyone happy as the extreme heat was causing many to snuggle under the shade. All a la cartes restaurants delicious at night and well mixed drinks around the pools served efficiently by Eddie. Room was very clean never needing any extras. We requested a specific area of the hotel and no hesitation to our request. Air Canada Rouge plane coming home very beautiful, extra leg room in the seats and not as full as going down from Toronto. The last flight until fall.…
The property is old and in need of update. Also if you like walking around this one is small. Great staff but staffing in some of the restaurants was low and that reflected not only on service but food quality as well. Can't swim in the ocean unless you're a strong swimmer!
