After reading some of the recent reviews we went quite a bit of trepidation. We got a warm welcome and were shown to our cottage. The cottages are lovely but could do with updating with some TLC, the carpets and furniture as serviceable but old. The area is beautiful but no shops or pubs which are over a mile away... More

After reading the reports on these cottages we were a bit dubious in going, but thought we would give it the benefit of doubt. So glad we did, as after a horrendous journey up (took 9hrs) we were greeted with a real friendly face of Ruth and a bottle of wine. We stayed in Helm Cottage which was really nice... More

Stayed in Hawthorne - a comfy, well equipped cottage. Ruth and Peter are lovely and very helpful. They even ensured we had good weather :D Plenty of Inns within easy reach for those, like me, that don't want to cook. Particularly liked the lack Swan at Culgaith. You don't need to travel fat to find good walks

We were suppose to go to this accommodation for our 45th wedding anniversary. I am going to keep this short because we finally didn't go, because on the last minute the owners changed the terms & conditions. We paid £150 for the break with a Wowcher & were told that because we weren't "FULL PAYING GUEST'S" the terms advertised were... More

Booked this cottage through wowcher good price for a mid week break. Then l read trip advisor to find that it was not all what was described in their add. I called the owners to raise my concerns about extra charges for towels bedding etc which was never put in the add.l cancelled and called wowcher who sent emails but... More

I would firstly like to say that all around this area and the Lakes are stunningly beautiful and can't wait to go back to explore more of this part of the country. However, it would definitely not be to these cottages. Luckily there are many places to stay. We arrived early evening and was just looking forward to a cup... More

This quant cottage has the making of being a pleasant relaxing stay but unfortunately this is dashed by the miserable owners who show you around in the dark because they are too miserly to use electricity by putting lights on and turn the heating off if they think you are lighting the log fire. They charge you £5 for a... More

I dont usually write reviews but felt compelled to after our recent experience. Firstly, i will start with the good points. The setting and cottages are idyllic. There is plenty to do within walking/driving distance and the cottage seemed to have everything we needed. Our first impressions were good, the vendors welcomed us warmly and the cottages were presented to... More

We booked a long weekend with friends, staying in hawthorn, helm and the barn. The owner showed us round on arrival, with the dos and dont's. We asked if we could use the court yard for a bbq in the evening and she said that was fine. The cotteges are in a small village with a post office and the... More

No complaints regarding the location of the cottage. After booking we expected a warm welcome from the owners on arrival who promised to be dog friendly too. We were not greeted well on arrival and were just handed our keys at the owners front door without discussion of any cottage itinerary or notice of any rules which we discovered existed... More
