We spend 2 nights at this beautiful hotel. The location, the rooms and the inside pool are amazing. But there are some things that just don’t fit in a 5* hotel:

Staff: only one member of the staff was apparently qualified to work here, is name is Joel. All the others were either unfriendly or not qualified to do his job.

Restaurant: besides of the fact that there is no big variety, meals are expensive; wines are ok; staff at the restaurant don’t know how to present themselves and serve food; I wonder if they ever had been trained for working in a restaurant.

Other things we claim and hope that the management can improve: water temperature in the outside pool is too cold, not enough sunshade, only few drinks in the bar, snooker room dirt…

Resume: we expected much more for this type of hotel; it looks like a good 4* but with amazing location: in the middle of the wine yards.

For less than 100€ per night, I think it was very well priced.
It does not have a direct view over Douro river from the pool, but the river is very nearby. For lunch and dinner, we went to Mesao Frio and Regua (both 15 min by car) and we found very good restaurants.
The pool is nice and the service was good a well.
It's not a 5-star hotel, but it's for a rural hotel, so the classification is different.
The vineyards are very nice to walk into and we took excellent pictures of the Douro river and valley.

This is ac charming hotel that was built in an old mansion, on top of the Douro valley, with a magnificent view. Very nice rooms, well equipped, splendid swimming pool with a view and nice restaurant with menu full of local dishes and a large wine menu. Very friendly local personnel.

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel with a walking group (Exodus). The location amidst vineyards is attractive but about 30 mins drive to the nearest town. Reception staff mostly spoke no English and were pretty unhelpful. The overall impression in the new wing where our rooms were was of an old people's home. The first room I was given was a disabled room with grubby tiles all down one wall, a disabled toilet and shower with no bath. I asked to move and was given a slightly better room with a bath but the decor was all dark brown and dark green so very dismal. Only the toilet was partitioned off from the room so it would certainly not be suitable for sharing with someone you didn't know very well.
The long corridors (ramps) to the rooms are floored in stained grey plastic: very institutional. The old building was attractive and the restaurant was OK.

Be careful!!! Booking doesn´t mean that you will have a room on that hotel
I book two nights for my parents when they arrive there they were informed that there were no rooms available (it was already paid in advance). They suggest other hotels in the area of lower quality, of course they didn't accept.
I will proceed now to an official complaint, but this can serve to alert you of the risk of booking a room on this hotel.

Ladies and gentlemen, I've had my share of travelling, amazing experiences and enjoying hospitality, therefore I can easily say - this hotel is absolutely perfect. No need to measure my words. It's located in a gorgeous part of the World Heritage Douro Valley, with astonishing views over the vineyards. The architecture and design builds from the ancient wine estate and modernises it with taste and comfort. Rooms are exceedingly comfortable, service is top notch, ambiance is quality meets informality... I could not ask for anything else in a wonderful hotel. The immediate surroundings are quaint and beautiful, you can take a short walk to the main church in the village always with a view to beauty - the Douro vineyards. Within a short drive you have any amenity you may wish for. I didn't try the spa to its full extent (only checked the outdoor pool, but it all looked lovely). Great dinner service with an extensive wine list. The room had huge windows with wonderful views, Welcome is warm with complimentary Port wine... And the price was more than affordable! Just go for it!

The hotel is in a very remote area, very difficult to reach
The hotel suppose to be 5 stars, but this is not the service offered
The breakfast is not a 5 stars level, the restaurant service is basic
We have experienced fights between the restaurant staff
The SPA was good , but too many children as if this was amusement park
Not worth the money

Stayed both in 2015 and 2016 - the views are absolutely stunning but that's not enough for an hotel to be 5 stars hotel.
In 2015 we noticed humidity problems in our bedroom, the sauna and steam room were not taken care of.
The Food was really good as well as the staff at the restaurant.

Regarding my 2016 stay I was shocked with the service: tried to call several times to book a room, never end up being able to, ordered a main dish with Turnip greens and it came without them, the breakfast buffet tables had bees on top of food (for example on top of cold meats) and for lunch ordered a Cesar Salad that came with a dead fly on the lettuce leaves.

I’m an event agent reason why I got in touch with the Hotel to try and give my feedback.
Got an arrogant answer back trying to diminish the importance of all my comments.

Very nice hotel near by the Douro view an amazing view.
Good SPA conditions, but it should be better for a 5 star hotel.
Employees are helpful.
Excellent breakfast but the food at dinner time could be better.
Overall, if you look to have some rest from the city and recharge your batteries, this is a excellent location for that.
