I have stayed here many times and it's been a good experience every time. A very nice change to the ordinary business hotel... It an old Inn with a very cosy pub, a restaurant with excellent food - a true "gastro pub". Staff are friendly, and rooms are clean and both modern and truly "old Britihish charming" (you will understand... More

Pleasant hotel with helpful staff. Rooms are reasonably smart if a little on the small side. Bathroom has full size bath and powerful shower however the sink taps operate the wrong way and you end up getting a soaking! We booked all the rooms and thought we might get a discount ...... no such luck!

An earlier review commented on the 'Italian' waiter, so we watched Giuseppe with interest and decided we shouldn't get on the wrong side of him! Our bar lunch - it seemed the restaurant was only really used for Dinner - was the fish of the day special. Hake with spinach and a potato 'cake' with a couple of asparagus spears... More

The Chequers is well worth a visit. Food The bar food is very good, and all prepared on site, everything from curries to steaks. The sandwiches are made with good quality meat, no processed cheap produce here, and no cutting corners. The drink Good quality ales. The wine could do with a bit more chilling! The premises Clean and comfortable,... More

This is a comfy hotel with good rooms and first rate food. On arrival i found the setting to be excellent away from main roads and traffic. Staff were polite and service in general was excellent. Will stay again.

Popped in after the Blackwood had a closed function on. Here actually had a wedding setting up in the other room but we sat in the bar and had a lovely lunch. Recommend the steak and Stilton bun, served with great chips. Good portion sizes and a decent range of lagers and beers. Can't go wrong for a lunch!

The staff at Chequers are fantastic and it is a great value place for a weekend getaway from London. The food at the cosy bar by the fire is excellent and the accommodation is very reasonably priced, highly recommend this place

Wonderful old venue has received a much needed and tastefully considered refresh without losing its heart. Excellent value, broad menu and faultless service delivered on even the busiest of days. Cannot recommend highly enough, please visit this place.

I visited on a Sunday, my colleague and I decided to have a burger over a business discussion. Comfortable surroundings...great staff and fantastically presented burgers that are obviously made in house...almost too much but we managed. Will definitely go again and sample the a large carte.
