Redcastle Oceanfront Golf & Spa Hotel is often lauded by guests for its picturesque coastal location and spotless, well-maintained property. However, some travelers voice concerns about noise disturbances from music and events. Many appreciate the spacious and comfortable rooms, but some suggest bathroom upgrades. While some guests praise the hotel's friendly and professional staff, others report inconsistent service. Despite the beautiful vistas and amenities, a number of guests feel the hotel offers poor value for money due to high prices and additional charges.

Nice hotel but wouldn’t recommend room 410 if there’s a wedding/function on in the ocean suite as the music can be heard very loudly in that room. We stayed on Friday 09/06/23 and the music blasting till after 2 in the morning was not a great experience...

The champagne reception awaiting us when we returned from the Church was a lovely touch... The Honeymoon suite was stunning, with beautiful views of the Foyle... Had an amazing 1 night stay here with 2 sisters during Easter. Firstly the room (505) was great... Door opened into a "corridor" with the batroom to the right, sitting room with a single bed in the corner and a pull out sofa bed made up with table and nice chairs, then the main bedroom had a king size bed and nice amenities also... Would highly recommend for all types of travellers as really seemed to be able to cater to all...

...I stayed here on business for 2 nights, and I was quite disappointed. The room was lovely and clean (hats off to the housekeeping team), and the gym and pool were brilliant, but on my second night the wedding downstairs was so loud I wasn't able to sleep until after 1.30am, when it eventually finished... Whilst I was offered a change of room in the middle of the night, this really wouldn't have made my night any less disturbed, and I didn't fancy traipsing around the hotel in my PJs, so it wasn't a suitable solution for me...

...Redcastle Hotel is a modern, comfortable and welcoming hotel in a stunning location, overlooking the picturesque Lough Foyle. Upon check-in I was warmly greeted with a hearty smile and the classic hospitality, friendliness and charm that the people of Donegal are known for... It was a very hospitable and amiable welcome to this beautiful hotel... My room was spacious, cosy, contemporary and had everything I needed; but the best part was the spectacular view of the sunrise over Lough Foyle each morning...

...We did feel however that it was vastly overpriced. We opted for a set dinner menu €35 for 2 courses but the choices were limited and anything good was an overpriced supplement e,g € 10 supplememt for scallop starter, €14 steak supplement € 10 lamb supplement... Unfortunately had a negative experience with just trying to book this hotel... Then the evening before our stay I got a call to say another staff member had rang in sick and I could no longer get a pregnancy massage as booked but they would offer me a facial for the same price... I totally understand that nothing can be done if a staff member is sick, but I got no apology and being offered a facial for the same price as a full body massage does not seem a good deal to me, when the whole point of going was to get the pregnancy massage and considering we moved our reservation and paid more to stay that weekend specially to get that treatment...

I booked for afternoon tea package as a surprise for my partner and I was very disappointed... The afternoon tea experience is meant to be with the “sea view” and she brought us to a table where you barely got a view at all... It would’ve took 2 seconds to move us and simply change the wine glass to cups... It costs nothing to be a nice person and she has made a horrendous reflection on the hotel... We have a family home 5 minutes away and we would have been able to bring a lot of service to this hotel... When you pay money towards an “experience” you’d like to think the service would be somewhat acceptable...

...Originally booked to stay over night in January for a Babymoon, went to book the spa 4 weeks in advance but they had no availability so I changed our reservation to Feb specifically to suit the spa. Rang for about a week to try and pay the deposit for the treatments but as a staff member was off sick there was no one to take my card details... Ended up having to get a shorter treatment for my partner because the delay in getting a staff member to take my card details meant the availability had changed... Then the evening before our stay I got a call to say another staff member had rang in sick and I could no longer get a pregnancy massage as booked but they would offer me a facial for the same price... The spa then closed so we were left for the evening not knowing what to do or when we might be able to reschedule or anything... The GM of the hotel was very helpful and helped us cancel everything... I had asked for a call from the spa manager just to address how this maybe could have been handled better but waited a week now and I’ve had no communication from them...

We were in the hotel’ today and were sitting in the main restaurant with our young children for over 30 minutes waiting to even see a staff member to come and take a food order. At this stage I went out to say to the young staff member with the blue suit on’ at the main reception can we please get served’... He said yes someone will be in to serve our family... I told the same staff member wearing a blue suit on the desk on the way out and he didn’t seem too bothered either and our family left... We Just wanted to highlight this as we normally have had great experiences with the red caste but not today and it was rubbish service...

...Upon check-in I was warmly greeted with a hearty smile and the classic hospitality, friendliness and charm that the people of Donegal are known for. It was a very hospitable and amiable welcome to this beautiful hotel... I was made feel so comfortable and at ease... I have to mention the wonderful Finvola, she went above and beyond for us... This was then followed by yet another warm welcome from Yvette in the dining room for breakfast... Breakfast was delicious with a self-service buffet where you could sit back and admire the view once more... Amazing food and superb service and attention to detail...

...We arrived much earlier than the 3 o'clock check in time but the receptionist asked us to wait a few minutes so that she could make sure that the room was ready for us. The porter got us and our luggage to our room number 406... Complimentary water, tea and coffee, a coffee machine, dressing gowns, iron and ironing table, hair dryer, however, NO SAFE... The room was comfortably warm throughout our stay but temperature could be controlled by occupants by way of a radiator tap... Bathroom, small but well designed with bath and over shower, simple to use, great selection of towels... We had to enquire at reception if we needed to discover events for the day... I can only describe it as a fabulous experience which we loved and remember... Thanks should go to chefs and the young men and women giving up their Christmas to work together to serve us in order to make our Christmas very special... Guide dogs and and some assistance dogs receive years of training and never leave their owners side...

...From start to finish the staff and especially the wedding team, of Margaret Mary, Kevin and Lauren were first class, making the beautiful hotel surroundings even more amazing. Our reception was decorated to the highest of standards, and everything was planned and presented with precision timing... The way the top table food was served, was like out of a film making us feel even more special, on our special day, the food was outstanding... The Redcastle wedding team, worked really well with our photographer and videographer with timings etc... The champagne reception awaiting us when we returned from the Church was a lovely touch... As our wedding was on New Years Eve we along with the hotel arranged for a fire works display, and it was a great way to bring in the New Year with Fireworks out over the lough... There was complimentary fizz and a lovely card from the hotel staff... They even had a framed picture of us from our wedding photographer in the room which was a lovely touch when we got back to the room after the wedding had ended... The next morning we ordered room service for breakfast, and even though it wasn’t booked until the early hours, it was delivered on time... If you are thinking of a Donegal Wedding, Redcastle has everything you need in beautiful surroundings, the spa, the views, the grounds and staff will make your special day, that bit more special...

...We decided to treat ourselves to a suite and it was stunning... The bar in the room was handy, and the bottle of bubbly on arrival at the room a great surprise... The balcony had a dining set, which would be great to order room service and enjoy the views on warmer evenings... Overall the hotel was fantastic, staff were friendly and helpful - nothing seemed too much trouble... The food was delicious and the breakfast was impressive - I was delighted to find they even had potato bread on offer!...

I booked for afternoon tea package as a surprise for my partner and I was very disappointed. The spa package was very good, however when we went up to the restaurant for our afternoon tea it completely ruined the experience... The girl who was meant to be looking after us was horrendously bad service... When I arrived she was standing about idly and I had to ask the guy at the bar could I get our table for the afternoon tea... I walked in to the lady asking me “have you seen any staff about.” The girl then brought me to our table... The afternoon tea experience is meant to be with the “sea view” and she brought us to a table where you barely got a view at all... I asked could I move to which she said that the other tables were for the restaurant... Confused by this I sat down and when she came over again I asked could I literally just move two tables down to get the proper view and she said no because they had been set for dinner... It would’ve took 2 seconds to move us and simply change the wine glass to cups... Also our table only had one water glass and no spoons for our soup!... I was also told that our jelly with our afternoon tea had not set so we were to take a “strawberry milkshake” instead that came out clumpy on our tray... We have a family home 5 minutes away and we would have been able to bring a lot of service to this hotel... When you pay money towards an “experience” you’d like to think the service would be somewhat acceptable... This staff member had blonde hair and was very young...

We had our wedding here in September 2022; from the minute we booked our wedding up until the day of the wedding, Redcastle went beyond and above to make sure we had the perfect day... Lauren the wedding co-ordinator was a pleasure to deal with and was always quick to respond to any queries and guide us along... The food was brilliant and service was 1st class... Redcastle also facilitated a 'day two' for us in the bar with a buffet and reseved space for our wedding party... I would highly recommend booking the Redcastle for your wedding...

We stayed for one night as part of the hotel’s summer getaway deal and had a fabulous time. It was our first visit to the hotel and will definitely not be our last... The family rooms were excellent…modern, clean and comfortable and with 2 separate sleeping areas it was very spacious for 5 of us... The deal included dinner, bed and breakfast at a very reasonable price... Overall my family and I had a lovely stay and will definitely return again...

The leisure area was a lovely surprise, although not major views etc it didn't matter as the seated jacuzzi pods and back and leg massagers were absolutely stunning and I could've stayed there all day only for having dinner booked!... Would highly recommend for all types of travellers as really seemed to be able to cater to all...

Redcastle Hotel is a modern, comfortable and welcoming hotel in a stunning location, overlooking the picturesque Lough Foyle... It was a very hospitable and amiable welcome to this beautiful hotel... I was made feel so comfortable and at ease... I have to mention the wonderful Finvola, she went above and beyond for us... My room was spacious, cosy, contemporary and had everything I needed; but the best part was the spectacular view of the sunrise over Lough Foyle each morning... This was then followed by yet another warm welcome from Yvette in the dining room for breakfast... Breakfast was delicious with a self-service buffet where you could sit back and admire the view once more... Unfortunately I didn’t stay here long enough to try all the dining outlets in the hotel... Recently stayed here for a special occasion birthday. I had made note of the birthday whilst booking and got a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was a lovely touch... Beautiful hotel and grounds with a very large leisure centre... The spa area was lovely, very clean with a huge relaxation room and I really the Indian head massage treatment... We opted to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant on the evening of our stay and food was fabulous as was the cocktail selection... Also couldn’t fault the selection at breakfast with views overlooking the sea... Lovely hotel for a relaxing night away...

Over the years, my partner and I used to really enjoy staying at Red Castle quite a lot, we just loved it and always recommended it to friends and family whenever we could- The food, rooms and atmosphere were always great…We even made the decision to book our wedding there for 2021, it made sense since we were always visiting. After only a few months after booking our wedding, my father became terminally ill, I also became redundant over the covid period, this was all very sudden and out of our control. We had to make the very difficult choice and cancel our wedding plans, it just broke us. We explained our very difficult and stressful situation to management, and pleaded with them to please consider refunding some of the deposit(1500), we were in a very bad place…to our shock and dismay they showed no empathy, care or sympathy to our circumstances, they kept our entire deposit and refused to compromise with any kind of compensation or transfer any of our money towards a complimentary stay. We decided to cut our losses, and to take a break from RC as we felt like we had been totally let down and didn’t feel the same way towards the place. Fast forward to today, we were in the area with our young children and very far from home… we desperately needed a place stay and Red Castle was the only place available at such short notice, so we reluctantly booked a night in one of the family rooms. We couldn’t get over how extremely run down the hotel has become since we last visited. Our room was filthy, our bathroom absolutely stank, the food was embarrassingly over priced and very poor quality(we had to return the children’s food back to the kitchen)the restaurant toilets were in an appalling state. The breakfast was disgusting, it was as if the food had been cooked on a radiator. Our children went to the pool and the staff were very unhelpful and rude- we couldn’t believe it. We were treated as if we just wandered confusingly off the street in the wrong building. The next morning my son was feeling unwell, we asked if we could have a later check out so he could rest before our long trip home… this, they would not allow as apparently they had “A full house” even though their website clearly showed plenty of availability (including the room we were staying in). When confronted about this, the reception staff just shrugged it off and said that’s what their manager told them make up. I’ve attached just some of the photos from our stay, the rest are just embarrassing. It’s safe to say that our Red Castle days are well and truly behind us, clearly they don’t put good customer service as priority, just your money. The place is obviously in decline as the hotel/restaurant were dead. The only good thing is the lovely sea views and good parking. We will never return no matter how desperate we are!

Was really looking forward to our stay here, we booked the 2 night deal includes 3 course meal and 2 breakfasts, the room was ok nothing great needs updating, nowhere to put away clothes so lived out of suitcases for 2 days, there was a small rack to hang a couple of dresses but nowhere to put jumpers trousers shoes etc. Found hairs I'm the bath and scum in bathtub, our second day we went to the spa , I asked reception where it was and what do I need to bring, we get there get in pool and the jacuzzi and jets were off, another guest in pool told us as there was a swimming class they get turned off, so we got out dressed and I went to reception and asked why they didn't tell us there was a swim class going on and we couldn't avail of amenities, we were told they are sorry, its not good enough you pay quite a high price for this supposed luxury stay but staff are not informative, girl in spa said she was new and didn't know the spa facility's were turned off, disappointed as I was looking forward to spa and we were leaving following morning. Just felt the sorry was very much a brush off,

Stayed as a family for my wifes birthday for a total of 3 nights. Main attraction was that the Hotel had a Spa and swimming pool, these were a major let down. One staff member in particular was rude and obnoxious at the Spa reception, definitely not cut out for Hospitality. Had booked my wife in for 'A little bit of Luxury' as a birthday treat, she said the lady giving the treatments never stopped talking and had a few swear words thrown in during the hour treatment, not very 4 star service. Housekeeping were excellent, very down to earth, and always a pleasure to deal with. They were very interested in our 5 month old baby who loved the attention. The food was great in both bar and restaurant, I couldn't fault it. Breakfast was standard hot food and then your cereals and fruits etc. The staff on breakfast were excellent and very attentive. Family room was great, nice and spacious for a couple and baby, plenty of beds and space, bathroom was 100%. When checking out the receptionist thanked us for staying, but didn't ask how our stay was. It's the little attentions to detail that make the stay special. I would return again, but I would try out the golf course, which looked great, and avoid the Spa like the plague. It's the reason for the 3 stars!

We had our wedding reception in Redcastle on 4th November. From start to finish, we couldn’t have asked for more. Our Wedding Coordinator, Margaret-Mary, and all of the Redcastle team were incredible - helpful, efficient, supportive, and knowledgable. Only ever an email away, and answered ever question, putting us at ease. Everything went seamlessly on the day, and the staff couldn’t have done enough for us. The attention to detail and efficiency of staff was second to none, and we were truly impressed. The food on the day was top class, and we’ve had lots of compliments since. There was a great variety of drinks on offer, and everything is reasonably priced, so the guests were happy. We had a lot of guest travelling to Donegal for the wedding, and as a local, I was delighted that Redcastle showcased the best that Donegal has to offer - amazing views, incredible hospitality, and great craic! Overall, we had an incredible experience and can’t thank the Redcastle enough for making our special day so memorable.

I booked the cosy winter deal for my friend's birthday as a treat and i included the seaweed eye mask and facial for both of us. All the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I requested gowns and slippers which were left on the beds and also some chocolates as it was a special occasion. The room was a great size overlooking the back of the hotel but we didn't mind that at all. The room had everything we needed and also had a coffee machine. The facial was amazing we both enjoyed it and the therapist was lovely, it was a real treat. We had a 3 course dinner which was included in the package and 2 complimentary prossecos. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great choice. I have had food in lots of restaurants and hotels and I must admit this was amazing. We both enjoyed the spa area with the most amazing relaxing views. Breakfast was also Brill and they even had gluten free bread which my friend was so happy about. Overall I can not complain at all we left very relaxed and will definitely be back.
