Sunscape Coco Punta Cana boasts a beachfront location that has charmed many with its scenic views, though its position isn't perfect for everyone. The hotel's variety of amenities—including pools and entertainment options—has received positive remarks, yet some visitors have encountered maintenance and service lapses. While the vibrant atmosphere is a highlight, guests suggest the noise level and need for aesthetic enhancements could be addressed.
Opinions on the hotel's value and service are split, with some citing overpricing and slow responses. Room conditions have also drawn criticism, despite occasional compliments on decor and comfort.

Our trip to this resort was exceptional in addition to the quality/price ratio. We were skeptical at first since a lot of people in the comments said they had been sick and honestly the food was really delicious and varied!!! When we arrived at the hotel, people were waiting for us with small wet/cold eucalyptus washcloths to refresh us!! Not to mention the famous welcome cocktail and room service to help us bring our suitcases! The service was fast, we had hot water, the room was cleaned very well, we didn't miss anything! The staff was really friendly! In addition we have an application on our cell phones to order meals or supplies for the room which is very useful. We negotiated for the adult only VIP price at the entrance, for the adults only buffet it was worth it, however for the adult only pool or bar section people don't have wristbands, so anyone can get there go, we talked about it with the
Manager and he explained to us that the spring does not want to label people with bracelets, they do however do rounds once in a while with random names to see if we are in the right section, if not they bill us. As the manager told us, it's always better not to put unnecessary stress on ourselves by taking this risk while we are on vacation. The drinks were really delicious and the wine too! We highly suggest the ribs from the Grill restaurant, the Asian restaurant and the Mexican restaurant which were delicious!!!! At the beach, unfortunately you have to pay $30 per day for small beds and $75 for Bali beds which is disappointing… however we recommend this experience for at least one day during your trip, it's worth it!! Otherwise, chairs are available and accessible at all times on the beach!! The sea has a lot of algae, we took advantage of the
Pool and it was perfect! The swimming pools of the
Adults only section are much quieter, it's definitely worth it! We decided to have the lobster dinner and honestly we will.
Highly suggest!!! Best lobsters ever eaten in a private room with a private server!! Very beautiful experience worthy of a film! Initially we had a room in the old section of the hotel, although it was renovated this room was really damp (the sheets were even damp) and smelled of mold, we asked the manager to change rooms, the latter was extremely understanding and gave us the options between two other rooms in the
New section, he was very attentive and attentive to our needs throughout our two weeks! A big thank you to Clay and his exemplary work! We are a couple who travel a lot and honestly this place, for the value for money, is a magnificent place where we will return! Of course the beach is not perfect and there is a lot of seaweed, but for the rest it is really very good! The hotel is close to the airport and the waiting time at the airport is really minimal!! If you like to go out late in the bars in the evening I do not recommend this place since there is only the sports bar or the lobby bar in the evening which closes later the rest closes at 11 p.m., it is not a resort like an RIU for example. Be careful if you are offered to visit another hotel, this is time sharing... you will lose your day if this does not

Punta Cana
We were at Sunscape Coco from March 18-25. We booked a tropical/garden view room. Just the basics. On arrival when we gave our names in the main lobby we were asked to leave our bags as were were “VIP”s. We were led to the Sunclub Adults only lounge and asked to take a seat, handed cool facecloths and offered a drink of our choice from the bar. After a quick check in we were introduced to our concierge Manuel who took care or us all week. Our room was spacious, clean and very cool. We always had hot water and our fridge was stocked daily and our room freshened. We were in room 1237, building one overlooking the adult pool with a view of the ocean from our balcony. We were a little concerned about the “open concept” bathroom but it really was not a problem.
The pools were warm and the ocean refreshing. We never had a problem getting a lounge chair at the beach although it was a little harder at the pool. People ask about pool and beach bar service but I don’t know why as you are probably never more than a minute or two from the many bars around the resort. Drinks are not that strong but I did manage to get tipsy one night at dinner.
Manual was able to get reservations for us on the three occasions that we asked. Our first and favourite was Chopsticks. Honestly we preferred Kaleidoscope Adult buffet more than the Ala Carts. They cook your meat in front of you and every thing was hot and fresh. With out reservations we never waited for more than 10 minutes to get a table at the Ala carts. A buzzer is given so that you can grab a drink somewhere while you wait.
On my birthday we returned late afternoon to shower for dinner and there was a small charcuterie board and a bottle of champagne on ice.
The entertainment was our least favourite thing but we watched for a little bit each evening.
We did one excursion with Boogie Adventures which included the dune buggy ride, a cenote swim and information session about the local coffee, cocoa etc with the opportunity to sample and purchase. We paid $65 each US and felt it was a good price. We were told it would take 30 minutes when it was actually almost an hour and a half so be prepared for that. Also don’t wear anything you really care about lol.
All in all we had a great week. Would our experience have been as good without the surprise upgrade I can’t say. So if you can I would definitely upgrade.
The staff is amazing and always have big smiles on their faces.
The airport was good on arrival and departure. Much better than previous trips.
PS do not go to the market to the left of the resort. The prices are high for us Canadians as we have already paid an extra 40 cents on the dollar and the salesmen very pushy.

Spent 7 days. We booked family swim out but received pool view. Our first room did have some issues but the resort was very accommodating and quickly resolved the concerns and put us in a ground floor room near the main pool and theatre. Our first room was damp, AC was running but didn’t take away the humidity. We had a water drainage issue and the shower backed up in to the washroom. They sent maintenance right away to addresss but the AC was an issue so we moved.
Staff here are amazing and go out of their way to make you have a great vacation. Our second room was perfect and they checked back in every few days to be sure there were no more issues. We did have ants on the patio, but again within minutes maintenance and housekeeping came by to spray for ants and mop up anything that could be attracting them.
Food was ok, we were well fed but some mix ups at restaurants due to language and some items were a bit cool by the time they were served. Our favourites were Chopsticks and Da Mario. We did both the dinner show and had dinner off the menu at chopsticks and both were fabulous. The deep fried ice cream was our favourite dessert.
Bars made great drinks, but sometimes ran out of ingredients for a short time. I always just ordered something else and tried again later. They make a great dirty monkey with real banana. The daily drinks were a must to try, even coco cafe has a daily coffee drink special.
We were a group of 3 and no one in our group was sick, I’ve heard there is still something going around but we all avoided it.
I would return in a heartbeat. The quality and service we received far exceeded the price we paid for our package. It’s not an upscale 5 star resort, so if you keep that in mind and expect 3.5-4 star food you’ll be impressed. Grounds and beach are beautiful, food and drink selection was great. Buffet food is just that. The snack areas and a la cartes were all good and never much of a wait to get in for dinner.

I see some of these positive reviews and am sorry to report our week was very poor. We were put in this resort after our first booking at the Jewel was changed twice; 1st to a sister resort then to this one. We had issues with cable, power-leading to no A/C, low water pressure. We were in a building under renovations and had noise through days as well as had a repair man use their pass card and walk in our room. We had to be switched to another building after asking for assistance several times and no follow up so had to become very direct. Isabel at the front desk was the only one that was helpful. Moving into our second unit wasn’t better however as we had to almost beg for water bottles and towels on a regular basis. Cleaning staff knocked early in the am then can back at 5 pm to clean and literally left 0 towels all night sometimes. For 5 of our 7 days we ended up with tummy troubles which seems to be result from contamination of some food. At the buffet restaurant, again we couldn’t get water unless we sat in front of the water station. I’ve stayed in several 4 or 4+ star resorts and this was by far the worst- the beach, weather and water were lovely thankfully as it was the saving points to some degree to enjoy something. I’m not a high maintenance person and hate to complain. I realize some of these places are at a challenge to some degree. Our West jet rep( Nexus) was also no where to be found. Other reps helped us out fortunately. On route back to the airport, I heard others had a fantastic time at our first resort change the Jewel and left DR feeling my husband and I got completely ripped off by WestJet. It’s been a week back in Ontario and we are just starting to feel a bit normal again.

Worst Hotel I’ve stayed in, at check in before passing the room card over, reception asked did we want to upgrade to adults only for $500 dollars they would give us 4 free days. We declined got the room card and set off after the bell boy, we where in block 10 ground floor the door to the room opened and we where greeted with the overpowering stench of Danp/Mould, there was only 1 bed, 1 cup, 1 glass, and no hangers in the wardrobe. We about turned and went back to reception, my sister has Asthma so for health reasons I asked for a move, we got told we could move but at 9am the next day, we went for dinner in the main restaurant which didn’t have any air con, absolutely horrendous trying to eat with sweat dripping down your face, we had a couple of drinks and went back to are room, we couldn’t shower cause water was now pouring out of the light in the shower. We went to reception the next morning and was told we couldn’t move till 5pm, I asked where was the new room and they said it was the same block we where in but upstairs, I refused and asked for the manager, another reception person came over his name was Victor, I explained about my sisters asthma and that I wasn’t happy to stay in that mouldy block and he said he had another room and if we moved away from reception so he could get the queue down he would take us over and see if we liked it, 25 mins later we sent to see the room, it was in the adults only area, it was a better room so we agreed to move, he said he would have it cleaned and we could move at 2pm.
On 2 occasions the room card didn’t work so we had to go back to reception wait in the queue and have the card rebooted, on 2 occasions the maid didn’t clean the room, on 1 occasion the toilet had no water in the cistern to flush.
The pool on the adults only complex made the white parts of your swimming costume and your skin green, I reported it to the Tui app, they said they would ask the hotel if it was ok
to be in it and get back to me, they didn’t, I asked them everyday to turn the water filters on, which they did after about 20 mins. After 2 washes the green stuff hasn’t washed out of are costumes now where home. The BBQ man at the beach uses the same food tongs to put raw meat on to cook and then uses them to serve you your cooked meat. No wonder people are ill. The Hyatt hotel also has a photography service on the complex to take photos that you can purchase, on a couple of occasions they came around with a small monkey asking did you want a photo with it, I was very shocked at this. Two weeks in paradise NOT!!!

Overall, Sunscape Coco was a pleasant resort with plenty of areas to escape to if you wanted to avoid the main pool and beach. They had designated spaces for families and adults only, which was nice. I found the pools to be quite warm and not the cleanest, so we opted to spend more time at the beach.
Our room was cleaned daily by a lovely housekeeper named Elba (I believe), who checked in each morning to see if we needed anything. However, the shower didn't drain well, and the air conditioning in our room wasn't as strong as I would have liked.
Navigating the restaurants was a bit confusing at first until another guest mentioned an app we could download. Not all restaurants were open each day, so it was essential to check the app daily for availability. Fortunately, there was a nice variety of dining options, allowing us to try something different each night.
I booked a spa service with two friends, and I was quite disappointed with my experience. While my friends seemed to enjoy their treatments, mine fell extremely short. We all opted for the after-sun aloe treatment, but after a 45-minute wait, I learned that another guest had extended their service. This information should have been communicated at check-in to save me the wait or allow me to reschedule.
When I finally went into the treatment room, I noticed there was an accordion door (that didn’t close properly) with another guest on the other side. The esthetician had me get settled and comfortable on the bed and when she returned she had me sit up, being exposed, so she could place plastic underneath. This could have been something she had prepared. I was prepared that the aloe would be cold, but after she applied everything I was left covered with wet towels for 40 minutes and felt freezing. Once she returned, I was told to shower (on the side where the other guest was) and then given back one of those wet towels to dry off. I laid trembling on the bed while she applied lotion and completed the service. There was no treatment to this, the lotion application came with a sped up massage. I felt her rush for being late and in result I wasted $125US and 2.5 hours of time for a 50 minute service.
The entertainment was good some nights, they had a show each night followed by an after party. The shows were entertaining enough, but the after party was done in the lobby area and not worth sticking around for. Most of the nights they had karaoke, which I am not a fan of. There was no disco or anywhere you could go and dance. Additionally, the music all day and evening was Latin music that none of us knew, which made it very hard to get into.
All in all, 4 days 5 nights was just enough time to get away at this resort at this time of year.

An embarrassment of customer service, thank God the excellent cleaning service and waiters, but the management of the hotel disappointing and embarrassing.
Our problem can be summed up in that we hired the Sun Club Junior Suite Swim Out King room, which has direct access to one of the pools. In this swimming pool you can only bathe guests with this same room. Well, lie, I recommend that you do not pay more to have this privilege of being among the few who can use it, since in this pool bathes anyone without any control. Obviously we transferred our bad being to the hotel and we were told that we should go to the reception of the Hotel to make a formal complaint, we went to the hotel. It didn't change anything, I mean, we wasted our vacation time on going to put up a claim, which hasn't served any purpose. We have reiterated our Complaints to them on several more occasions, and the only solution they give us to return to reception to make another complaint. Anyway, you complain to them and they don’t bother to put any solution to customers’ problems.
I recommend that you not be paid more for this room, because you will have the same rights as anyone else.
It is a shame that they offer a one-bedroom service, which they are not responsible for providing and when you refer your complaints to them they ignore completely.
A real shame.

Beautiful resort. Recent renovations, lots of staff, food was excellent in the buffet (the best of any resort I've been to) and all the restaurants.
Our room had been recently renovated (building 4), had USB plugs, etc. and new fixtures. We had a few issues during the week with hot water in our shower, but as soon as we told them someone came by within minutes and fixed it. Beds were comfortable. There were a few days we didn't get new towels or water bottles, but we asked for it at the front desk and you can get bottles of water at any bar in the resort easily.
I appreciated they had everyone entering the buffet use hand sanitizer, and we didn't know of anyone that got sick at all, though we saw on previous reviews there was a GI bug or something going around.
Beach was very nice, easy to get seats under shade for our whole group where we wanted. A bit harder to find a spot around the pool later in the day, a lot of peple leave their towels to 'save' their spots and never come back, which is a bit annoying, but certainly not the resort's fault, just common courtesy.
Lots of entertainment at beach and pool. Music at the pool was a bit loud for me (hard time to talk) but very fun atmosphere. Entertainment staff are fun and the evening shows were fun.
My only complaint is the volume of beach vendors, although they were courteous and funny, it did feel like every 15 mins you were being bugged by someone to buy something and it got irritating after a few days.

We absolutely recommend Sunscape Coco in Punta Cana with a rating of 10 out of 10! We spent the last week of December 2023 at this truly amazing resort. The hotel itself is newly renovated with large, beautiful suites overlooking the huge pool and the beachfront. The beachfront is dream like, with white powdery sand and crystal-clear ocean, with a large swimming area protected smartly from small vessel traffic beyond the demarcation line.
The customer service was so outstanding that it exceeded our highest expectations. Everybody went out of their way to make us feel wonderful, from the Managers Maxaida Marte, Kenia Sosa and Ray Aquino to the staff servicing the restaurants, Daiana, Yeico, Merlin, Junior, Carlos and so many more. The hotel management offered us excellent entertainment, with live shows every night and splendid beach parties at sunset which we weren’t even expecting. The restaurants offered impressive richness and variety of choice in both food and drinks to everybody’s delight at breakfast, lunch at dinner. The bar service was prompt and courteous at every bar and there were even waiters on the beach catering to our every wish all day long. The tourist activities were to everyone’s taste with a lot choice for the more actively inclined (Not us! We just lazed on the glorious beach.)
We gratefully thank all management and staff for making this an unforgettable, dream vacation for us and we would love to come back again in future! Congratulations and “A Happy New Year!” to you all!
From our hearts,
Dan and Patricia of Canada

This place does not accommodate people with mobility issues. Asked for a first floor room upon booking and ended up with a 3rd floor room, no elevator. Also check in time was supposed to be 3pm, not given a room until 4:15. No apologies given. Other people on out tour were given a free upgrade however we were not.
Room was spacious but paint was splattered on walls and floors. Patio door did not close properly and did not lock. No hot water first day, no internet second day. No washcloths in room all week, had to go to lobby ladies room and steal them from baskets next to the sinks.
Maid service was great first part of the week ( Thanks Ramona) second part of week we had to chase down maid for essentials, like bottled water, towel replenishment, coffee.
Food was poor quality even in ala carte restaurants. Menu said filet of beef, it was the worst I ever had, inedible. If you think chicken parmesan is a deep fried frozen breaded chicken patty with no cheese or sauce served with mushy cheesy spaghetti no sauce this is the place for you. How about shrimp risotto with no shrimp in it , but one lonely shrimp placed on top.
One night the towel rack fell off the wall in bathroom, it took two days for someone to fix it.
Main pool had tiles falling off walls and floor. Some of the kids there were having fun by diving to find the loose tiles at the bottom of the pool.
Areas by our building (5) and around the resort smelled of sewage for 3 days.
You can't drink the tap water or even brush your teeth with it.
But worst of all, they ask you not to flush your used toilet paper. They have covered cans provided to put it in. Really gross!
Try a different resort if you want to stay someplace nice.
