Getting there
Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We were here for 2 weeks and the first week and a half worked great, then the Chinese customers came and the service got a little worse. The quality of the room cleaning got worse, the pool towels were sometimes missing, the trash cans were not clean, the balcony was not swept from the flowers that attracted a lot of ants and the cleaning was overall a bit sloppy, which used to work great. The hotel's breakfast also changed, each bowl was filled with varying degrees of hot food. When we get here and before the Chinese, only half of the bowls were full. It gave me the impression that they took "better" care of other customers and us Europeans are not as important customers But as I said the first week and a half was great and everything works well and the hotel is very nice and in a good location. The hotel's restaurant is again really overpriced and not that good. We always went out to eat in the evening, because you could get better food for much cheaper elsewhere.

We stayed at this resort from 28 February to 13 March 2024 staying in a villa/bungalow on the all inclusive basis with TUI. This was our 4th visit having stayed in 2017, 2018 and 2023.
The hotel sits right next to the fabulous Khao Lak beach. The grounds are extensive and well maintained as are the two swimming pools. We have stayed in both the rooms and the villas, both are similar size, spacious, well appointed and thoroughly cleaned daily. There was a mini bar with water, beer and soft drinks which was included in the all inclusive package.
The Oriental Restaurant was only used for breakfast during our stay, open between 6:30 and 10:30 and had everything we needed, with all the staff really helpful.
Lunches and evening meals were served at the Sundowners Restaurant which looks over the beach. A stunning setting to watch the sun set. There was an a la carte menu at lunch offering Thai, pasta, burgers/sandwiches and desserts and one for dinner which was more extensive with Thai, pasta dishes, fish, steaks and desserts. They had a themed buffet at dinner on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday alongside the a la carte menu. The drinks menu included beers, cocktails, spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks and were served from 11am until the restaurant closed. The Sundowners staff were amazing and I’d like to pass on my sincere thanks to Ju, A, Jeab, Na, Nan, Thai, May, Ao, Benz, Poppy, Winso and Aummy for looking after us so well. Apologies if I’ve missed anyone as they were all fantastic. Thank you so much for the lovely birthday cake for my husband’s birthday too.
There was another bar near the reception but we only went a couple of times. There was a wine bar but this was not included in the all inclusive package.
The beach was great for walking and running on and there were a lot of people enjoying the sea/waves.
There was a gym and massages available but we didn’t use either.
There are quite a lot of steps in the resort but we didn’t find them a problem.
The staff all worked so hard to ensure we had a wonderful experience, we had such a great time we are in the process of booking our next visit and look forward to seeing everyone again in 2025.

The hotel is a sea-side property close to a relatively clean sandy beach. It has its own swimming pool and good clean rooms and cottages.
We booked the Similan Pearl sea side bungalow (no. 106) for two weeks during the christmas-new year holiday. It has a beautiful location, peaceful and secured ambient.
The Similan Bungalow was daily serviced and cleaned but a bit dark inside and we wished to have more lights especially in the bathroom.
The hotel has beach-side restaurant with a limited menu of affordable prices. The food quality was clean and ok. They offered also international open buffet which had interesting dishes, worth trying, at a reasonable prices . We liked this restaurant and taking in consideration its location, we thought it was a better alternative than many other restaurants in the village.
Breakfast was served at another restaurant located on the other side of the pool. A wide range of asian dishes but limited vegetarian choices. Cheese and cold meat cutlets were also available for those who prefer western light breakfast.
Activities like Christmas Eve Dinner and New Year's Eve Gala were both well organized. It included an open buffet with a wide fresh dishes of international cuisine accompanied with show program and dance music.
The resort is a good choice for families and single travellers as well. Well maintained and served by wonderful friendly staff. Many thanks to all of them and in particular to the ladies and gentlemen who served the food at the breakfast venu and at the beach restaurant. It is highly recommended retreat for relaxation!

The villa is nice but very dark. Also felt a little unstable and could feel a bit of a wobble with the rain and wind - so think about this if you are sensitive to movement when trying to sleep.
Breakfast wasn't very vegetarian/vegan friendly but they did try to cater for needs. iced drinks were nice to have available (esp as the coffee from the machine wasn't so good)
English communication in general was quite challenging, some things could have gone very wrong.
Location is pretty good if you're ok with a walk up the strip. Lots of choice of places to eat, massage shops and even if you need basic shopping of toiletries etc. Nice laundry places nearby too. A few bars with 99 baht cocktails but literally chairs and tables, don't expect a dancing/disco vibe here (in my experience).
Staying in the rooms away from the pool feels like you could be anywhere and forget that the beach is right there.
They say there are 2 pools, but they are right next to each other so I'd really think of it as 1 pool. Pool chairs can get cosy and I think I did a lot of passive smoking sadly as it all so cosy. There is a nice shower on the side but not really signposted. Shampoo and shower gel is available at this outdoor shower which I thought was a lovely touch.

We arrived at the hotel at 10am and were greeted with a cold flannel and a drink. First impression was lots of steps, old style Thai decor but seemed clean. Within 30 minutes we were in our room, number 411, which was quite central for all facilities. The rooms are very spacious but in need of a little TLC. Air conditioning was fabulous for the first couple of days but became a real problem after. It seemed like it was on a timer and, after being on for a while, it sounded like it was still blowing but was not blowing cold air. We reported it to reception 3 times but it wasn’t until the 4th complaint that we were moved to room 415 but soon discovered this room had the same issue and it appears rooms 412 and 413 had the same issue. The shower is lovely and powerful and the bathroom has shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush, comb. There is also a pool/beach bag you can use and pool towels. The pool was lovely first thing but got warm by the afternoon with the sun on it. Not sure how often the pool is cleaned but there were dirty/slimey areas on the pool floor. There were room renovations happening while we were there but they didn’t affect our stay at all. They have fitted covers by the beach restaurant so you can completely cover the padded sunbed top. You need it as they get very hot. The pool staff are lovely and helpful. Benz was our favourite and works ridiculously hard but always with a smile on his face. The ladies in the restaurants are wonderful, lead by Ju, who is so funny, helpful and very welcoming. Oi, Jeab, Na, Poppy, Wi and May are so lovely that we felt relaxed and well looked after at mealtimes. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anyone with mobility issues as there are so many steps. It is located at the end of the Khao Lak shopping area but there’s not too much of a walk to the shopping area and there’s usually a taxi outside which can take you to the market for about 200 baht (approx 45 to the £ Jun 24) or just to the far end of the shopping area for about 150 baht. It was low season when we went so it was very quiet in the hotel and in the area. Sadly the beach directly in front of the pool area has a lot of debris on it when the tide goes out, bottle tops, flip flops, toys. It’s real sad to see but obviously nothing the hotel can control.

This hotel was an alternative choice after we were told our Tui Blue original hotel had building work being done. We chose an alternative because we wanted a restful holiday. The hotel is next door and in our arrival to the Laguna Resort we could not see any building work being done at our original choice, in fact it looked very nice and the name had been changed.
The Khoa Lak Laguna Resort is not for anyone with walking difficulties or elderly that struggle with steps, they are everywhere. Up to the reception, then down to the walkway the other side, there is a slope but then more steps if your in the rooms. Our room wasn’t very clean, the hand mirror in the bathroom was absolutely fifths, as was around the basin, and the toilet cistern. There are bamboo bins that looked awful for you to put used loo paper in and the shower glass was covered in splatters. The furniture in the room was dark bamboo type and was covered in dust, the net curtain was very stained and hand marks all over the window. I had to get the kettle changed due to the lid keep shooting open which was dangerous! The room was never cleaned thoroughly just top & tailed for replacing coffee and milk x 2 meaning only one drink each, toilet rolls, towels and making the beds.
The breakfast was ok with plenty of selection and lovely hot coffee out of the machine. The Sundowner restaurant’s menu had some good choices but starters were very large and often meant it was wasteful. The prawn cocktail wasn’t the nicest and I had one that hadn’t been cleaned!
The beach was always dirty and the su beds area on the grass had lots of rubbish around them that was never cleaned while we were there. We never saw anyone clean the swimming pool either and there was a lot of debris in the bottom. One gent pointed out the slippy slope at one side had green algae on the side making it really dangerous.

This was our third visit to KhaoLak Laguna Resort our last being in 2018.
We traveled as a group of four with TUI staying from end of Feb to early March on an all inclusive basis in two private villas.
Buffet Breakfast was in the Oriental Restaurant. Lunch and evening meals are served in the extended Sundowner Restaurant which now has sufficient undercover seating in the event of inclement weather.
Lunch and evening meals were al a carte with a variety of Thai cuisine, Pasta, burgers and steaks etc.
The bar in the Club Lounge was extremely quiet and closed at 22:30. The Sundowner Restaurant also provided a bar service from 11:00 through to circa 22:30. There is very limited entertainment.
There are two pools. The top pools decking has apparently recently been refurbished, however, the lower pool near the beach decking is in need of some attention. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols.
The beach is hard packed sand, very clean and just like a UK beach, it’s perfect for walking. The sea is warm with some waves. The hotel provides complimentary surf boards, two seater canoes and boogie boards.
The gardens are well planted and maintained. Walking around the resort and in the small stream are water monitor lizards.
The staff who we had most interaction with at the Sundowner Restaurant were all attentive, pleasant and helpful we would like to thank Ju, Na, Thai, Jeab, May, AO and A
Overall, the KhaoLak Laguna Resort is typically Thai decor, low key and somewhat rustic we really enjoyed our stay and are returning for a fourth visit in Feb 2024.

We loved our time at Laguna. We went at the beginning of November so it was very quiet but started to pick up in the second week. It is a very large resort with a lot of stairs but the staff will help you with your luggage upon arrival. The beach is beautiful, and a gorgeous sunset. I would suggest walking along the beach in both directions as it has stunning views. The pools are great for all level of swimmers. We didn’t eat much at the restaurant but the cocktails were nice. It is clean and not far from the bars and restaurants. The grounds make you feel like you’re in the middle of a tropical forest, it is bliss. Breakfast was nice too, with a large selection and really nice omelettes. It is a nice place for family’s. If you are elderly and struggle with mobility there are a lot of stairs and to get on to the beach stairs or a little walk but the hotel have chairs looking over the beach and if you ask them for a ground room or villa I’m sure they would do that for you. The staff were all pleasant too. Also, the internet is good. Our room was beautiful too and cleaned daily with fresh towels. They provided fresh beach towels daily, a beach bag, bottled waters and big umbrellas. Thank you Laguna

We stayed at this resort from 24 Feb to 10 March 2023 staying in a bungalow on the all inclusive basis. This was our third visit having stayed in 2017 and 2018.
The resort sits on a large piece of land right on the beach with two well maintained pools and lovely grounds. The bungalow was roomy, well appointed, comfortable bed and cleaned daily.
The Oriental Restaurant was only used for breakfast during our stay, open between 6:30 and 10:30 and had everything we needed, with all the staff being really helpful. Lunches and evening meals were served at the Sundowner Restaurant which looks over the beach. The staff were amazing and I’d like to thank Ju, A, Jeab, Na, Thai, May, Ao, Eye for looking after us so well. There were two al a carte menus one for lunch offering Thai, pasta, burgers/sandwiches and desserts) and one for dinner (traditional Thai, pasta dishes, fish, steaks and desserts). There was also a drinks menu which included beers, cocktails, spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks.
The beach is brilliant for walking on and the waves were enjoyed by all ages with the resort offering canoes, paddle boards and boogie boards free of charge.
We have already booked our next visit and look forward to seeing the staff again in 2024.

This was our fourth visit to Khao Lak Laguna Resort our last being in 2023
We stayed from end of Feb to early March on an all inclusive basis in a private villa. The villa was cleaned daily with towels and bedding swapped. There is a small in room mini bar with soft drinks, water and beer restock on a daily basis. Really good shower with plenty of hot water. There is a good size safe which easily fit’s iPads etc. The air conditioning was good and easily cooled our room.
Lunch and evening meals are served at the Sundowner Restaurant. Lunch and evening meals were al a carte with a variety of Thai cuisine, Pasta, Fish, Burgers and Steaks etc. Three time a week there was a themed buffet in the evenings (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Buffet Breakfast was served in the Oriental Restaurant.

There are two pools with plenty of sun loungers / parasols, fresh lounger covers are provided daily and beach towels were left in rooms.
There is a fitness room with what looked like good equipment, however, we never used it.
The beach is hard packed sand and very clean, it’s perfect for running and walking etc. The sea is warm with some waves. The hotel provides complimentary surf boards, two seater canoes and boogie boards.
The gardens are well planted and maintained.
The staff who we had most interaction with at the Sundowner Restaurant were all hard working, good fun, attentive, pleasant and helpful we would like to thank Ju, Na, Thai, Jeab(Chicken), May, AO, A, Poppy, Winso, Nan, Benz, May, Aummy.
Overall, we enjoyed our fourth stay and will return for a fifth visit.

We’re at Khao Zlak Laguna Resort now. Not aware of sea view avilability for twin rooms only bungalows right on the beach have sea view, however, all room are minutes from the beach. Regarding all inclusive Sundown restaurant is right on the beach. Buffett themed evening meals 3 nights a week, however, al a carte menu is still available on buffet nights. Seperate al a carte menus a lunch times.
