This was the largest place we stayed - situated on the Bunyonyi lakeside. They had everything - wooden huts, rooms in a hotel, camping area, tents on stilts and en-suite stone cabins. We were in a stone cabin at the very far end of the resort which had a lovely view over a bit of the lake. From here you could explore the area, take a boat ride, go for a guided walk, swim in the lake (brrrrr - but someone did!!!) or just sit and appreciate the place. We even saw some otters in the lake while we did just that. It seemed quiet when we stayed but if all the rooms were taken it would be buzzing with activity. Good or bad depending how you like your atmosphere. Our room was big and had a good hot shower. No mosquito net here but we didn't get eaten so assume it was not such a problem in this area. The restaurant had a great view too over the lake with several areas you could sit - inside up or down and outside too during the day. They also lit a fire pit outside in the evening which was nice to sit next to and let your dinner go down. Food and service excellent quality and all freshly prepared (so can take a while) and they seemed to be running out of some of the things on the menu (think we were at the end of the main season) but there was plenty of choice so no problems. All in all a great place to stay.…

We stayed at the resort 2 days during our safari to Uganda. The first impression was good, the place is big and has several different buildings and accommodations. It is clearly a “resort” build to accommodate several people, and our visit was probably out of season. The expectations we got coming into the area were however not meet during our stay. The team of staff seemed disorganized, they were friendly, but seemed as if they did not really know what to do and how to do it. The restaurant is big, has a nice view over the lake. The ala carte menu had several options, but a lot was sold out. The food was not good, we got I.e. fish which clearly was not fresh. We had to wait extremely long ( more than 30 min) for our food to be served even though we had ordered several hours before. The food for our table was not served at the same time which to us is awkward. The room was spacious, had a good bath with hot water. We had a balcony with a good view over the lake. …

Overland is located right on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi with expansive views of the hills and a jetty that goes straight into the lake, a perfect spot for diving. The rooms are well decorated and fitted with big comfortable beds and huge bathroom with hot water. This is perfect as it's quite cold around Bunyonyi. The food was impeccable and the service was on point! We will definitely be back and recommend Bunyonyi Overland Resort to anyone who's visiting the area.

On the campsite we were all alone; nice location near the lake with a good view. From the campsite you can do an easy stroll through the Rutinda where they'll try and get you in a boat trip. We enjoyed a short visit to the Arcadia lodge (we drove up... walking may be too much...) where you can enjoy a coffee as a non-guest and where the view over the lake is spectacular

This was our first night in Uganda after driving from Entebbe. Great place, really good food and very friendly and helpful staff. I was here last in 2004 (18 years ago) and the place still has the same warm atmosphere. We had a nice swim in the lake and a walk in the surrounding area. The freshwater grayfish curry is really great. We liked food, people and place so much that we stayed here again at the end of our trip.

DISCLAIMER: this place was booked for us by a tour operator who I would also not recommend. Online the prices seem to be much lower than both our tour operator and the duty manager at this resort told us so we were probably getting scammed by one/both of them. On arrival the manager was rude but did offer us a “free upgrade” as we were the only guests. He claimed we were being upgraded from a $100 tent to a $140 room. These prices, if true, are simply ridiculous. The room was disgusting so we turned it down for the tent which was very simple but seemed cleaner at least and had nice views (definitely not worth $100). It seemed that someone was living under the decking of our tent as there were clothes hanging up. The communal bathrooms were a short walk away and were clean enough with hot water. Out of all the staff we encountered only Elias, the porter, was friendly and helpful The resort seemed to be undergoing a lot of construction but was also falling apart. I leaned on a wooden railing near the restaurant and it fell away due to being completely rotted, luckily not taking me with it. The food took ages, which was ridiculous as we were the only guests, and turned out to be terrible. The resort is right next to the heart of the local town and we were kept up into the early hours by very loud music.…

I stayed here for 2 nights at the hotel's new block. The rooms here are large so does the bathrooms and water pressure is also fine. What you note is the hotel has many room categories spread around so you can't feel it's crowded even on busy days. There are also spaces for outdoor seating, with large umbrella cover. The team are helpful and ready to show you around their property and can arrange tours on the lake such as canoe treks, community tours and visit to the local school or women crafts making group. Thank you Michael for the tour of the property. Atleast I now know the room with the best views. Onsite is a craft shop (displays crafts made by women and craft sales help community projects, education and provision of clean water), bars, restaurants and camping grounds. Lots of outdoor space for group activities and camping.…

In an idyllic setting on the lake. Room was good (although the hot water went off once) Lovely grounds and friendly staff, a most enjoyable four nights. A beautiful view, with a glass in hand, from the deck near the bar. Would love to go back.

We pulled up here for our 2nt stay, first thoughts were OK, not greeted well but we’d hold judgment & see if it gets better. Wasn’t greeted nicely at all, rooms wasn’t ready as had flooding, OK fair enough, we’ll chill and have a drink. Each chair had a broken leg, table also broken and the service wasn’t the typical Ugandan friendly. The staff were like they had given up on the place & lost all hope. We parked in our rooms and they were not nice at all!. On a plus side the view is lovely. Rooms weren’t ready 2hrs later and thankfully our guide got us moved to much better accommodation where the stay was amazing with awesome views. Happy ending for us, so glad we didn’t actually stay!

Dear Tina, Sorry for your bad experience which is unusual and strange! Our staff have been cautioned and more training will be offered where necessary. Most of our guests only have good reviews about their experience staying at our resort and your experience is quite unusual. An investigation has been launched to understand what exactly happened as this cannot be tolerated if true. We hope you will come again soon to experience the true hospitality that our resort is known for. All the best.

Really comfortable place. Clean and comfortable. It spreads out over multiple levels so even when lots of people it doesn’t feel full. Good food and extensive menu. Possible to swim in lake or hire boats.
