The hotel look is built in the style of an old castle and looks impressive from a distance. It is out in the countryside miles from anything else. The lift is the slowest and smallest I have ever seen but you have to take you luggage in it because the only other option is a narrow circular staircase. Every half hour or so there is a noise like a mini jet engine. (Hot water pipes?) The room we had was quite large and the bathroom clean and modern. Wifi is good There is no jug/tea coffee making facilities in the room The pool looked really nice but too cold for swimming when I was there. Dreadful breakfast and no choice.

A quirky looking hotel, but full of all the mod cons. Very spacious bedrooms with huge comfy beds, very clean and well laid out bathroom with a shower that didn't leak onto the floor. Ours offered a tremendous view to snow-topped mountains. Great restaurant/breakfast room opening out to a large balcony with a nice view over the lake and serving a very adequate buffet breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Although it looks ancient the hotel is quite modern. Rooms are spacious, hot water worked and wi-fi was good. No iron in the room ; there is a communal one in the hallway. There is a pool and large deck overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside. Food in the restaurant was delicious and plentiful. The hotel is located in a semi-remote area i.e. you could not walk to the nearby village. Everything was clean and well maintained.

.... the location and the first impression are really impressive ... when you are in the lobby you can see that everything is not royal ... the staff are very friendly ... the rooms are rather basic ... but it was clean..free water in the room and free good wifi ... our room had a view of the lake which is very nice ... the location is very quiet ... the mattress was very good ... there is an elevator that is already a bit getting old .. the spiral staircase in the main hall is adventurous ... there is a great outdoor pool ... but table tennis and billiards are very old and unkempt ... the selection of breakfast and dinner is nothing special .. but there was plenty and it was always freshly refilled .. Coffee is unfortunately only in bags ... but you sit very nice on the terrace overlooking the lake both in the evening and in the morning. .. thank you for a nice stay ...

This place does not let people in that might not seem that wealthy! They most certainly profiled us! My sister and I were there with our husbands 3 days prior to the incident. We were all dressed up and in a nice car. So that time all we heard was please welcome, this way, enjoy your evening… After we left I realized that I lost my sunglasses. We called and they said that they had multiple different sunglasses that matched the description of mine so we went back to pick it up. This time around I was with my parents. We had diner plans later on so we thought we’d get a quick glass of wine and appetizers beforehand. My parents live in the village. All we wanted was a quick glass of wine to catch up. We were in my dad’s car. They stopped us at the gate and the gentleman made a phone call. He walked away so that we would not hear what he was saying. He came back telling us that there was no space in the restaurant everything was reserved. We all understood that. And we were aware of the fact that we didn’t not have a reservation so it was all good. So I explained that I needed to go up there anyway to pick up the sunglasses. On my way back into the car he very rudely said : “Don’t go into the restaurant!” The way he spoke to us made me think that there was more to the story. I asked the receptionist if they had the space for 5 people for a quick wine and appetizers as we were headed to the dinner after. Turns out the restaurant was empty!!! Server said pick any table you like. And it hit me that it was not about reserved restaurant. It was about the fact that we drove old car and we did not come across as wealthy. When I asked them what was going on because they were turning us around at the gate while restaurant being empty here was an awkward silence between the employees. Remind you, We spoke Georgian to them so there was not any kind of misunderstanding! This place is keeping local people out of the restaurant if they come across as poor. If you are not driving a nice car and you can still pay for a diner and enjoy a glass of wine too bad for you, you still are not welcome here! This place is discriminating against middle class that might not be able to drive just released cars but can afford a diner! Please don’t go there!! There are so many chateaus in Kakheti right now that you do not need this fake pretentious environment around you that discriminates against local residents! I left speechless and extremely heartbroken to realize that it is how they treat Georgian people there. I left feeling extremely angry and sick to my tomack.
