Once a year 6 of us meet up for a Christmas meal. Each of us choosing a different place year on year. This was my choice. Booked in advance and arrived mid afternoon to be greeted by friendly staff. Had drinks and a chat in the cosy bar. Rooms are clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities. We...

Took my mother to the Cridford Inn for the weekend. Not the easiest place for anybody with mobility issues but she loved the atmosphere and the food - so brownie points for me too! If you like perfect decor with antiseptic like cleanliness, the Cridford is not for you. If you like character, a sense of history, a relaxing environment...

Other reviewers mention the Cridford Inn being off the beaten track but it is well worth beating your own track to this Devon gem. My husband, daughter and I spent 3 nights here last week and although the weather was pretty foul, the welcome, the rooms and the food were fantastic. The full English breakfast set us up for the...

My wife and I went to the Cridford Inn in mid-December, together with two friends. We went for the Festive Lunch. Two hours after entering this absolutely delightful 9th century hostelry, we came away completely thrilled and delighted with our experience. It took a bit of finding down beautiful country lanes but so well worth it when we saw how...

This place is a genuine Devon long house which dates back to before Alfred the Great. It was remodelled after the Conquest- in 1081 according to the date stOnes preserved in the floor of the restaurant ( always assuming the Julian calendar was then in use). It oozes charm and character from every ancient beam and fireplace with walls several feet...

After a 5 hour journey on the deplorable M5 arrived at The Cridford for a 2 night stay plus a dinner party. Upon entering the bar a Hound seemingly attacked me until I realised he was very friendly like all the staff and management here. This place is clearly on the up supported by Chef (s) who actually know what...
