On reaching the Chan Kah Resort we pulled in to a rather dusty clearing with faded buildings around it and debouched into one of them, an open-fronted shelter with a group reception desk. Matters improved, however. All the accommodation was in separate bungalows, reached along tree-shaded paths. Ours at least had a good big picture window at the end of the bed, even if it did look out on to other bungalows; the bedroom was spacious and reached through a separate dressing/washing area with the lavatory/shower room off it. Once I’d worked out that one had to shove the conventional-looking key into a slot to activate the electricity, we could put the a/c on, a necessity in the heat. The best thing about the resort was the large pool in the midst of the bungalows, divided into three and surrounded by palms and other tropical vegetation. I hoped that I might spot some birds around the pool, but the only one to show was a woodpecker which took off before I could make a positive identification. Otherwise the only fauna to appear was a large ponderous iguana with impressive dewlaps who waddled along one side of the pool looking blearily at the clusters of homo sapiens pointing their mobiles at him. Later we spotted a couple of large rodents pottering around in the undergrowth beneath the trees that grew between the bungalows. Enquiry and investigation online showed that they were agouti. We ate on a terraced restaurant overlooking the pool, pleasant enough but food no more than average.

Good rooms, pokey bathroom and staff in restaurant were slow, surly and unfriendly. Although the rooms were separated because of the way they were arranged you had to keep most curtains closed so the neighbors couldn't see you

We had a fabulous stay at Chan-Kah Resort during our visit to Palenque in February. We came to Palenque to visit the Unesco listed archaeological site - the Pre-Hispanic City and National Park of Palenque. We chose Chan-Kah as our base because of the proximity to the ruins and because it looked like such a lovely place. When we arrived we were overwhelmed by the beautiful surroundings and facilities of the resort. It is nestled right in the middle of the jungle, a perfect place to discover Mayan history while relaxing surrounded by nature. We loved the privacy of our bungalow, surrounded by lush green plants and peaceful sounds of nature. We had our own porch where we could read, or we could take our book to the pool area and rest on the sun loungers by the large pool shaped like a cenote. The resort complex is large, providing all you need - a spa, massage, swimming pool, a convention center, a restaurant offering delicious food, and more. The Palenque ruins are just a short ride away by taxi or collectivo (cheap and very frequent), which means the perfect location for your visit. We can recommend Chan-Kah Resort to everyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Palenque.

We stayed at Chan-Kah for 4 nights! Booked it on a whim! Got there and were amazed at the property and our room! Room was very clean and well maintained, as was the resort! The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating! The restaurant was fabulous! The pools were very well maintained! Cleaned every morning! The location couldn’t have been any better, close to the ruins! The wildlife around the property was also amazing! We walked out of the property around 7 am and encountered red Macaws and saw 2 Toucans on our last morning! Listening to the Howler Monkeys in the am was a treat! If u have a chase to visit and stay here put it on your bucket list! A must to do!!

We called in here for 3 nights on a tour of mexico. We stayed near the pool. We would not recommend a room closer to the jungle because of the damp conditions. The place was near empty of the first 2 nights and breakfast the first morning was a set menu. Hot chocolate was an extra charge?????. Last day breakfast was a nice buffet choice.
