Wonderful to see this level of design and quality in Victoria, only 1 hour from Melbourne but located in the middle of the bush, and 15 mins from the beach. Rooms are comfortable and the service was overall great. Doot Doot Doot is the main restaurant and delivers a refined set menu which was enjoyable but the kitchen isn’t quite able to pivot is you have a dislike for one of the courses. Casual dining at the Rare Hare delivers full flavoured dishes and is great value for money, we couldn’t fault the service. Overall, a great effort, we did have a service issue but the Hotel quickly stepped in and resolved the matter, the sign of a great Hotel. Limitations ? Half the Hotel’s rooms face a car-park, hard to understand who thought this was a good idea when designing the Hotel. The Hotel would also benefit from a Library / Lounge type area for Guests to soak in the valley views when the weather is poor.…
The Jackalope hotel, modern in design and decor, a bit on the minimalist side, but very comfortable nonetheless. My wife and I were there from Christmas day until the 29th December, sorry we did not say longer . From the moment of our arrival when the receptionist parked our vehicle until we checked out we were not disappointed by one staff members service-a well trained and run team with one issue on their radar-attend to the guests needs.Compliments to management. The food was really very very good, the breakfasts were excellent , I take it as a quest to use a menu as a guide to what I wish to eat not to what is available to eat-if the chef has the ingredients surely they can manage a change to the menu....the chef did not disappoint at all- every morning my request was met with perfect delivery, from the chef to the waitrons , again a well run machine focusing on the clients comfort and requests. Breakfasts were held in the Doot Doot Doot restaurant as was Christmas dinner-as my wife and I both have food requirements that need to be catered to( allergies and dislikes) again all requirements were met and exceeded. The Rare Hare, where we forgo two other evenings to travel to other restaurants to dine at, was simply put excellent.Staff were a lot more casual than the Doot Doot Doots staff but so was the restaurant-service still good , if a bit haphazard....food excellent, especially the steak and asparagus dishes- highly recommended. The hotels amenities like, the latest movies on demand on the the house with hot fresh popcorn sent to the room if required, the open and free room bar , no exceptions, the tasty chocolate bars that were sent to the room as extras to those in the bar cupboard and the pool and hot tub were tops, the staff at the pool were on top of their game offering us sun block screen and facial spritz and immediately supplying us with pool towels and drinks of our preference. Very relaxing( barring the screaming kids every now and again)...unfortunately as the hotel was so busy we were unable to secure a spa treatment which was something we both were really looking forward to do.The only disappointments we had at the hotel besides not being able to organise a spa treatment was that the room we really wanted and had indicated so since our original booking a long time before was not given to us but to another occupant....nonetheless and all in all ,a solid 8.5 out of 10.( would have been a tad higher had we got the suite we required and the spa service)- Highly recommend a few nights stay at the Jackalope , also loads to do in the area surrounding it.…
For a short stay experience, this is a wonderful retreat. Very stylish, relatively "close" to Melbourne and worth the drive. For a longer stay, there is plenty in the vicinty to satisfy you with landmark properties. Rooms were clean, stylish, beautiful view over pool and vines, and well equipped. The room seemed sound proof and very peaceful. TV had movies and other features but only broadcast media. Excellent blackout at night. In fact it had motion detectors to detect someone going to the backroom turning on a guiding light automatically. However, we were there for two night and couldn't work out the lights in the bathroom. Instructions would have helped. Breakfasts were well prepared, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful - but very small - particularly for people who are accustomed to a hearty meal. Service was excellent - except that service staff kept saying "beautiful" in acknowledging one's order. A couple of times, OK - but nearly all the time is a bit much. VERY expensive.…
Jackalope is an all-black cutting-edge architectural design which some might find spectacular and others might find gloomy. We had an upper floor vineyard view room with a lovely view of the pool and hillside vineyards beyond. The rooms are a very modern design with black walls. Could be a bit dark for some. The toilet and bathroom area is not overly large and has semi-transparent glass. Mostly ate in Doot, Doot, restaurant which provided a small range of tasty breakfasts and an exquisite dinner menu consisting of a number of small dishes. Service from the young staff was generally excellent. This might be a place for a shorter rather than longer stay.
So many amazing things about this hotel. The views, the spacious room, the pool, the range of food, the very attentive service from the staff, great coffee and the fresh kitchen garden - that comes with a puppy! A puppy! We got to enjoy the pool with some warm weather and it really was the perfect relaxation after a long lockdown. Breakfast options are varied and interesting, though the portions in general are light on. We raised this with the team and they were more than accommodating to offer extra breakfast on request. A quarter extra on the plate would be enough - both for the stomach and the eyes. I'm used to leaving a few bites on the plate. Definitely throw a nice dress or shirt in your bag and try the fine dining restaurant. Funnily enough, we left most satisfied and full from that. Just amazing! I found the sheets on the bed really noisy, to the extent that I'd wake myself up when I'd rustle or turn around. Kind of odd. As others have said, book a vineyard view - it makes a difference. It did seem to get busier from Thursday onwards, so we were happy we booked in well before the weekend and got more of a run of the place. There were some young kids there which is fine, but the whole design of the place is really more adult friendly. Older kids might be a bit bored. It was an almost perfect stay, even with the little disappointments it was still an amazing getaway that we look back on fondly.…
