Beautiful lodge and the host was amazing. Brought me around the country to several amazing Panamanian adventures. Enjoyed the mountain view and swimming in the pool at the edge of a jungle with a bar right by the water :)
I stayed here during a school trip and all I can say is wow! The location is absolutely stunning! The backyard overlooks a valley, and the views are beautiful. There are tons of beautiful flowers and fruit trees. The air is so clean and fresh! I loved sitting in the hammocks outside and reading. There are several hiking trails located on the property as well. Phil was a great host! He is so knowledgeable about Panama and the local community. If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet location to stay, I would definitely recommend La Joya de Chica!
We just had our 8th stay at this wonderful Lodge in Chama. This is where my husband and I go to get away from it all and spend time alone. La Chica de Joya is a hidden gem that you need to experience when in Panama. The Lodge has a beautiful pool and manicured gardens. The grounds are eye candy with lots of nature and beautiful fruit trees everywhere. If you enjoy beautiful tropical breezes and being surrounded by exotic flowers and plants you will feel right at home. We love sitting on the back patio every night sipping wine and listening to the sounds of the jungle. The owner Phil prepares (upon request) the most delicious dinners. The ingredients are local and many come from his own property. Breakfast is always included and served with the tastiest fruit that is ripened perfectly! The Lodge is pristine clean and lots of attention paid to details--if you forget something you can be sure Phil has a spare. We'll keep coming back because Phil makes us feel so welcome. Thanks for a great Valentine's Day Phil.…
Our stay at La Joya de Chica was excellent! It was by far our favorite place to visit on our trip to Panama. Phil, the gracious owner, was very accommodating to our family of five (including 3 very active boys.) The property has a great mix of relaxation (i.e the pool and star gazing) as well as activity. You don't have to go far to enter the wild with on-site hiking. Phil was great cook and wonderful host. I would highly recommend staying here!
We have visited this lodge on several occasion for the enjoyable and delicious Sunday brunch to relax on a Sunday afternoon surrounded by Campana National Park and the small rural community of Chicå. Finally had the opportunity spend a night. Breathe and release yourself to the quiet and peaceful environment surrounded by nature. The two suite accommodations are comfortable and you are graciously attend by the host owner. Treated to a glorious sunset and sunrise reaching out over the hills. i get relaxed just reliving the visit. Enjoy a glass of wine to kiss the sunset good night and fresh brewed coffee to greet the sunrise. This is a special place surrounded by nature. Even though we live in Panama we would return to this tranquil lodge.
La Joya de Chicá is an excellent place to get away from the noise in Panama City. It's surrounded by nature and very quiet, and the rooms are very comfortable. The owner is super friendly, and a great cook! He fixed us a delicious pork chop dinner and some awesome walnut banana pancakes for brunch. We shall be back very very soon. Don't miss out on this great place; it's just one hour away from the city! :)
Spent a wonderful day at La Joya de Chica Mountain Resort relaxing with friends and just chilling with nature. This is the true "get away" place in Panama. Had a wonderful brunch and chatted with our friends in this beautiful place. Nothing like sitting outside surrounded by the rain forest
Excellent experiment!!!!!! Everything was 5 star. We enjoyed our stay to the limits. Peaceful environment, beautiful rain forest, waterfalls near by. Adventure or just reading by the pool. Everything is waiting for you! Phil and Tiffany are a great couple and gonna make your stay unforgettable. And just short drive from Panama city.
Chica is a wonderful small mountain town; not a built up touristy place, thank goodness. It is near the wonderful Campana National Forest which should be mentioned more often for Panama as it has may different hiking trails. This bed and breakfast is a quiet, calm, breezey soul-relaxing experience. Phil, the owner has done such a magnificent job of landscaping; rock gardens; herbs grown as tall as myself, and actually planting the wonderful orchards of local fruits which are served with their scrumptious breakfasts. He is always ready to take you on a short hike of the place - bring your hiking sandals. The beds are so comfy, good quality sheets and towels and plenty of them. Eat on the patio overlooking the hills. Tiffany, the chef puts together an amazing assortment of breakfast items to choose from; and of course, will make your omelette the way you want it with lots of choices of fresh veggies to go in it. And meats for those meat lovers. Mimosos abound if you want them. Not to mention their wonderful smoothies served anytime, with or without alcohol. The fruits served were fresh from the orchard that day. Lots of homemade cookies, too....Not only is Chef Tiffany a wonderful chef, but a wonderful baker also. She also hosts wine dinners that always sell out ! If you come just for Sunday brunch, bring your bathing suits to spend the rest of the day in their marvelous pool just hanging out with other sun lovers. The pool bar is right next to the pool, which is important to know. The place is spotless and you can tell there is so much love put into everything here. The drive up from the highway to Chica is marvelous with look off points where you can see Panama City AND the Bay of Chame and all the way to Coronado if it is clear. Chica itself is a different type of mountain landscape.....it is not all jungley - it is just hard to explain the hills which are not overgrown with jungle, but instead rolling green hills of so many amazing colors of green you will think you are in Ireland. I have posted some of the pictures of the views of these amazing place. Tiffany and Phil are wonderful hosts and are there for your great experience and are happy to assist you in every way possible. Call today and make a reservation !…
When exploring Panama for our future retirement, we were driven to Campana National Park and up to La Joya de Chica Mountain Lodge by wonderful friends that know the owner, Phil, well. We did not stay on the property, but we toured it for a future place to lodge when looking for serenity, peace and taking a break from the chaos of Panama. This is a magnificent resort. Phil gave us a complete tour showing off clean, spacious rooms with gorgeous high end baths, a huge kitchen that was also extremely clean and tidy, a large reception area and surrounding porch areas with tables and hammocks provide great views of the lush grounds and surrounding mountains. and the pool with bohios looked refreshing and inviting. Phil was honest and forthcoming about his adventures with building this resort along with maintaining the resort, gives his gardener high praise for keeping the fruits, vegetables and foliage looking fabulous, is extremely knowledgeable about Panama (and its quirks), and, overall, he was just a pleasant person to want to get to know. I absolutely recommend this resort even though I didn't lay my head down here (I intend to though--someday!). Be warned though that is UP in the mountains, so the drive is curvy and can be at times steep, and it is away from it all. It will be well worth it (the peace and quiet you will find) once you arrive to La Joya de Chica Mountain Lodge.…
