I cannot say enough about the special treatment we received from Helena and Pepe during our three nights staying at their beautiful b&b. Delicious dinners, great wines, picnic lunches, excellent guidance for hiking, great company... Helena and Pepe are talented hosts that made our stay unforgettable. We hope to return someday!

A superb 5 days up in this wee gem in the Sierra de Cebollera. Wonderful food - a 4-course dinner for 18 euros, v-sensibly priced wines and drinks, charming rooms and hosts (Pepé and Helena) for whom nothing was too much trouble. For certain, we’ll be back!

As a quiet, mountain retreat La Almazuela is the best accommodation I have visited in the world. Hosts Helena and Pepe were incredibly welcoming and Pepe’s meals matched any top restaurant. The rooms were spacious, charming and had great views across Montenegro. The village itself is very quiet in the winter so it’s not a place for wild nights out but with a range of local walking routes and a small ski station just over the hill there’s plenty in the area. Definitely recommended.

Words cannot describe what a "hidden gem" this beautiful place is, located in/near the Cameros National Park area. We stayed here for a couple of nights when visiting the Rioja region and we are so pleased to have done so. It is SO different from staying in one of the many tourist hotels that feature on the "standard Rioja Region tours". If you want something a little different, and totally off the normal tourist route, you must give this place a try. Where do I start? We were greeted with great warmth by the two owners - Helena and Pepe - who went out of their way to make us feel at home in their home which has just a small number of rooms. From outside, the building looks to be a traditional farm building but the inside has been completely renovated to the absolute highest standard and with great artistic flair and design. There is a stunningly beautiful lounge with open fire and books and magazines to read over a glass of very good wine and the rooms are simply superb. We have stayed in many top hotels and the rooms easily match them. Very modern in design but perfectly matching the heritage of the building with large comfortable beds and superb bathrooms with excellent shower etc. I cannot recall having stayed recently in a better room anywhere. Good wifi as well. Pepe prides himself on his cooking and it was one of the highlights of our entire holiday. With just a limited choice - which makes it fun and interesting - his cooking is absolutely outstanding. Everything is prepared to a very high quality and individual flair. Truly outstanding. Part of the fun was Helena explaining in great detail what the menu consisted of and helping us select local wine which was very good value. It is hard to describe just how good the food is. This Posada is a little off the beaten track in a VERY quiet village but is within an easy 45 minute's drive of Logrono and is set in beautiful hills and forest - indeed most of the Spanish guests there seemed to be regulars enjoying the walking and wildlife in the area. So yes this is off the normal tourist trail but gives you a wonderful chance to see the "real Spain". You would definitely need your own car to enjoy the experience. Beautiful walks everywhere including Laguna Negra which is worth a visit and beautiful. During our stay we had a problem with our hire care and Helena was absolutely outstanding in helping us resolve the matter - without her help we would have been totally lost but she insisted on helping us 110%. Thank you Helena! This was an absolutely memorable stay - thank you for making such a wonderful memory.

the posada located in this tiny village is a place to feel at home, situated in a region which is surprisingly beautiful especialy in spring! Helena and Pepe are there to make your stay a pleasant experience. They have an intimate relation with their guests a thing that you should take into account when staying there. Breakfast lunch or dinner make you want to stay at home, Pepe knows his thing very well.

Fantastic welcome, food, room and place, what a gem. We will certainly be back as there is so much to see and it is such a calm relaxing place. Open the windows and hear the bells on the cattle goats and sheep.

We stayed just 2 nights in this hotel but would have loved to stay more. Helena and Pepe are extremely welcoming hosts. The hotel was rebuilt a couple of years ago from the ruins of an old village house and it's beautifully done, a mixture of the original stone and clean modern wood and glass. Our room was perfectly clean and had views over the village. The surrounding countryside is wonderful - we were lucky enough to get a great autumn day for a walk in the woods. But the best of all...the food! As a vegetarian I have to be very careful about the places I stay at and we called ahead to enquire. We were told there would be no problem and it was absolutely true: Pepe could work as a chef in any 5-star hotel. Really superb dinners. Breakfast in a bright, sunny dining room. We will be back. A really great short stay. (You get used to the village clock striking the hour...and then five minutes later striking it again!)

Helena and Pepe were very gently hosts and did everything for us to give us the best - even good long beds and ideas for hiking and to visit :-). Best Greetings to Helena and Pepe from the first Danish guests in Posada La Almazuela from A&M Denmark

Combine: - a couple of great hosts - Helena and Pepe - very tasty local food dishes with the freshest ingredients prepared in a gourmet fashion by Pepe - incredible natural surroundings - mountains, forests, rivers, waterfalls - great tranquility - this area of Spain is far from the crowds (even the local Spanish crowds) all in the beautiful warm setting of an old restored farm house and you get an amazing experience in a sort of forgotten part of Spain. Highly recommended - Especially in the fall

After a period of hard work we decided to visit the north of Spain. We started at Bilbao, and then took of to Montenegro de Cameros. The hotel is lovely and the owners gave us a very warm welcome! We were hungry a bit, so they immediately made us some tea with homemade Cake. Yammie!! The surroundings are great! The owners can tell you everything about the must see’s. But there is also a great touristoffice nearby. The nature is overwhelming! We went hiking every day and discovered the most beautiful mountains , trees, waterfalls, animals, rivers, lakes, etc. After every impressive expedition we had a wonderful evening at La Amazuela! Helena is the nicest hostess we ever met and Pepe is a real good cook! He prepared us amazing local meals every day combined with the best local wines. After a week in la Amazuela we were completely relaxed and fit as a fiddle….  Anyone who loves amazing nature, great food & wine and the most careful service by two lovely people, should visit La Amazuela! We will definitely go back!!
