The property is a large acreage with multiple hiking trails. It overlooks Hall's Lake. The house is a 12 sided structure with three floors. The rooms and common area are on the second floor and the third floor is the hot tub room with a 360 degree view of the area. The food is spectacular and there is lots of it. The property is close to a number of other hiking trails with amazing views. The only con of the bnb was that our room (Cranberry Room) was right above the kitchen and we could hear the preparations. Not a big thing but something to note if you are looking for privacy. The hosts are incredible, warm and welcoming with lots of helpful information.
This is a unique B&B that is literally off the beaten path. You arrive along a 1+km long 'path' through the woods and have the most spectacular view over the trees to the lake from the resort. Before even leaving the car, you are greeted by Sasha, a very friendly German Shepherd. The hosts are incredibly nice and engaging and all the reviews discussing the great breakfasts are spot on. The rooms are not too large and have a comfortable bed. The common lounging areas all tie back to the rustic/cabin theming and are comfortable. Pool and Hot Tub amenities make this an easy place to just sit back, hang out and relax.
Jesse and Don are the ultimate hosts who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure your stay is memorable. The property is private, the accommodations unique and comfortable, the breakfast outstanding. Be sure to include dinner! It is very romantic, with spectacular presentation, and ambiance. Bonuses? There are a couple of top notch restaurants nearby, tons of lakes, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, a wolf sanctuary... Highly recommended! Thanks again Jesse and Don for a memorable Valentine's Day weekend getaway!
This is just the cutest place with lovely owners. The view is beautiful, the hot tub area is so cute. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. Jessie and Don helped plan our day and it worked out perfectly.
This is the fourth time we have visited this year-round B&B.The Tripadvisor picture gives an idea of unusual nature of the building. It does not, however, get close to giving any idea of the magnificent location and setting. Set well back from the highway (up an unmade road) it has magnificent views over the trees to Hall's Lake. There can be few better experiences than sitting in the top floor hot tub, in the fall, looking over the colourful trees towards the mist rising off the lake. This year, however, we were too early for the colours but the views are still idyllic. Outside is a pool with decking and you can sit outside your bedroom to relax. There are trails which the owners will advise you on including one to a beaver dam. There are three bedrooms, two en suite and one with a private bathroom. The rooms are homely, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast is taken downstairs (either indoors or out, depending on the weather). There is a lounge area with tea and drinks making facilities. Consistent with Don's background in the antiques trade, the furniture and ornaments in the public areas are an eclectic and ever-interesting mix. There are now two working organs and a piano, as an example. Unusually, although they should have disappeared, the bugs were still out in force in the area while we were there. It is always best, therefore, to take protection outside the winter months. By far the best part of Stouffer Mill for us is the people. Don and Jessie are really, really nice. They are pillars of the local community and well respected. They have always been very welcoming and helpful with advice on what to do in the are when we have visited. Over the years we have come to think of them as friends and as guests in their house (which is what, in effect, you are). Jessie is an excellent cook and her breakfasts, alone, are more than enough justification for returning. Another bonus, at breakfast, is the interesting fellow guests you meet. The B&B attracts visitors from all over the world and breakfast is normally taken communally. This year our fellow guests were from Germany and France when we arrived. Quite a European Union! Thank you, Don and Jessie, for yet another great stay. We will be back..…
