We have so much enjoyed our brief stay here. The hospitality was very warm and we felt like home. Everything was wonderful; the views, the sheep, doing yoga in the garden at 6.30am to the sunrise (coming from the other side of the world, we were a wee bit jet-lagged :P ), the breakfast, the chat with our lovely hosts Jenny and John. We loved it and will remember always! Highly recommended!

We spent three days and nights at Somersal B&B. At the edge of the cozy little village of Pirongia, Somersal's grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, (a testament to the gardening abilities of the two former farmers who operate the B&B, Jon and Jen). Our room was spacious and comfortable, access to the laundry was an added bonus, and the breakfasts were tasty and generous. Somersal was a perfect home base for our visits to the Waitomo glow worm caves, the Hobbiton movie location, Te Puia, Rotorua, and the nature trails at the base of Mt. Pirongia. If you get the chance to visit New Zealand, this is an excellent place to stay!

We chose this venue for its proximity to the Waitoma Caves and the idea of staying in a rural area. The grounds are magnificent and we can fully appreciate how it doubles as a wedding venue. Autumn colours were still rich and prevalent over mid June. The camellia driveway, in full bloom, was beautiful. It was lovely to walk around the grounds and enjoy the vistas of the back paddocks The accommodation was comfortable, spacious and homely. Our host John, did serve a most enjoyable hot breakfast. The drive to the Waitoma Caves is scenic and picturesque on rural backroads, taking approximately 25 minutes. We were travelling with our 12 yo and felt it was a nice introduction to rural life and the B & B experience.

Please make sure you stay at this gem if you travel to New Zealand(2 hours from Aukland). We arrived after a tour of the glow worm caves, and were happily surprised to find lambs in a gated yard! The views are stunning. The owners were so friendly, and offered some suggestions about things to do, and places to eat. Breakfast was a huge feast of delicious foods. The B and B is on ten acres of land. There are hidden gardens, where the ponds, and beautiful landscaping will delight guests. We wished we had booked our room for more days, as we didn't want to leave.
