One night. So good. Even our dog liked this place. And it turned out the hotel is a winery. How convenient. The car got heavier... Extremely friendly and professional service, both at arrival and departure. Nice atmosphere, indoor and out doors. We really recommend this place. Beautiful and old but thick stone walls, so bring your own internet. The AC does not seem to get below 21. But it was a good sleep with nice bed and linen.

I spent a night at the Podere Castel Merlo and I can only recommend. Beautiful and clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast. A lovely stay in the neighbourhood of Lake Iseo. I will definitely go back.

We did not expect to have to carry ourselves the heavy luggage up to the first floor through a narrow and ancient staircase.
The safe was out of service but staff promised to solve the problem in five minutes. Yet we had to put up for that night without safe.
WiFi was available in certain areas on the ground floor but not in our room (103).
There was a 48” flat TV screen in the room with over 100 TV channels in Italian language but as we only speak French, German and English there was literally no choice for us.
We did not expect a huge compressor turning on and off several times during night just in front of one of the room windows.
For lunch and dinner, we expected as promised on the website “an emotion for the eyes and the palate” but the result was rather disappointing, except for the wine.
Breakfast was supposed to be served from 07h30. As we had long journey this day we showed up exactly at 07h30 and nothing was ready. Twenty minutes later finally bread, butter and honey were served with some other choices.
The complementary toiletries consisted of two shampoos and a soap.
But the room and bathroom were huge and comfortable. The setting of the Castel Merlo and the interiors are splendid and with some improvement in service level this could be a top address.

We had pre paid and checked in, they took our bags to our room and then informed us that there was no WIFI or even an internet connection in the hotel, which to us was essential for keeping in touch with my business interests. As aside the room was so dimly lit that you would be unable to read. We had prepaid for 2 nights in a junior suite for from 13 September. We said this was unacceptable and would need to leave and find alternate accommodation. After some discussion the front desk agreed to a full refund.
We left and with some difficulty found alternate accommodation later that evening. We waited for our refund but it was not forthcoming. I followed up with numerous emails and phone calls and eventually was told 4 weeks later that they would refund one night, to which I reluctantly agreed. Since then further calls, which I end up talking to different staff, are aware of the refund, but no one knows when it will be made.
It’s now 9 weeks and no refund and I call into question their integrity and suggest you be aware before committing to a booking, especially prepaid. From this experience they are liars with no integrity.

The staff were perfect, extremely helpful & friendly. The room we had was very spacious & finished to a very high standard. It woudl be wrong to say we didn't try the the wine from the vineyard, we did & sadly it is not available in the UK.
Locally Lake Iseo is less commercialised than some of the other lakes e.g Como & Garda.
We will be visiting again.

Pros: - Our room was absolutely lovely: clean, blending original architectural elements with modern conveniences; many large, openable windows with fantastic views of the town and vineyard. - Excellent privacy: only 7 rooms in the hotel - Good location if you have a car: short drive to shopping, restaurants and lake Iseo. Cons: - This hotel has so much potential to be AMAZING, but our experience was completely undermined by the poorly trained hotel staff and lack of information for english-speaking guests. - The person working the Front Desk/Check-in is the only worker you have access to (besides possibly a waitress in the hotel restaurant) so to discover that each Day-Reception person has little or no english skills was a significant problem for us. Their knowledge of english, aside from rudimentary phrases/words, seemed to be rehearsed for only pushing hotel wine and promoting the hotel restaurant. They came across as seasonal summer students. - No hotel orientation info in the room for english guests, nothing. -Took 1 bag of laundry to reception (an advertised service). Didn't get sent out, was crammed under the reception desk. Staff blamed each other and then turned on us (!). - Internet only worked for 1 day of our 3 day stay. Called Front Desk. Worker didn't seem to care; said there were plans to get better router in a month or so. - Hotel held loud disco party in the evening on two nights. - Cleaning staff were intrusive.
The hotel is a beautiful property. One of the loveliest hotels in Northern Italy.
Hotel owners need to decide whether they want to run an event centre/winery or a serious hotel business. It is being run as an event centre.
Note: Nothing in walking distance. A car is required to get access to local shopping, sight-seeing, daytime food and alternate evening restaurant options.

This was a very clean and stylish hotel with an incredibly big standard room that was finished to perfection. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast delicious.
The location in the middle of a vineyard was beautiful and very quiet. The wine tasting was a highlight!!

However although we loved the isolation from tourists, it was just too far from local restaurants or bars for us. You couldn't have a meal here without use of a car. My husband drove to sarnico and Iseo on the evenings and it meant he could not enjoy a wine with his meal. When the restaurant is completed in the hotel however I'm sure this won't be an issue.

We also felt the rooms were a bit dark- great for relaxing in the evening not great for putting on makeup and getting ready in the morning.

Tourist information would have been helpful too. There were no leaflets or maps of the lake and the staff didn't really offer any advice or recommendations. Although very friendly and helpful, they were not very attentive in general and often not about at all. They mostly had a board up at reception saying to contact a number if they were needed.

These issues are all part of a brand new hotel being set up so if you are looking at this hotel from December onwards when everything is due to be completed then I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. You will not be disappointed.

The hotel is very special, clean and with beautiful rooms. They were not too many people by the pool so the size of the pool was just good for us (we were 5) but it's not a big pool.
Breakfast had fresh fruits, yogurt and granola bread and pastries, lovely cakes and plates of cheese and cold cuts. I would sum it as very rich breakfast.
There is no elevator so if you come with heavy luggage you should take it into consideration . there are only 2 floors of rooms so for us it was just fine. we spent only one night.
I would definitely come back again to this beautiful peaceful place,
The staff was very helpful, kind and cooperative.Special thanks to Daniella !!!

Answer from Massimiliano

The nearest airport is Bergamo Orio al Serio. From there with a car is about 30min. Taxi cost is about 50€ one way. From Bergamo Airport you can take a bus till Bergamo Train Station From Bergamo Train Staion you can take a train till Grumello del Monte Grumello del Monte is a little village 10min by car from us. From Grumello del Monte the only way is by a Taxi or car. I'm at your disposal for any other request. Best Regards Max
