Bethany 101 was built more than 170 years ago, at the beginning of the British Colonial era, and has offered its residents luxurious accommodation, world class cuisine, and an environment of inspiring beauty ever since. The manor’s décor is faultlessly classic and was meticulously renewed to its original splendour in 2013, incorporating many original antique fittings and furniture in the style of old Ceylon. We are happy to say that Bethany 101 is more resplendent today than it has ever been throughout its long history making it the premier boutique hotel in the Kalpitiya and Puttalam areas. The entire villa plays host to only six guest bedrooms, assuring you of a private and exclusively luxurious stay. Outside, commodious verandas with easy chairs sweep around the manor, offering an unobstructed view of an oasis like garden with an expansive lawn and an exquisite swimming area, all shaded by frangipani trees. Bethany 101 is a paradise boutique hotel and complete five star holiday destination. It has been our family home for generations, and our goal is to make it feel like your home as well. Our staff value hospitality and service very highly, and work to make every detail of your stay perfect. Nestled between the shore of pristine Puttalam Lagoon and the sheer majesty of Sri Lanka’s dry zone in the north western province, Bethany 101 is centrally located in Puttalam, just footsteps from town. We are also minutes from Kalpitiya, which is Sri Lanka’s premier dolphin and whale-watching hotspot. It also offers some of the best Kite Surfing in Sri Lanka. A short drive will take you to Wilpattu National Park, the island’s largest wildlife reserve, legendary for leopards and sloth bears. Anuradhapura, the greatest of Sri Lanka’s ancient capitals, is little more than an hour away, making it a comfortable and rewarding day trip.

Just Wow! This property is just so amazing. It is a little piece of heaven just before Putnam town but transforms you to a little oasis away from it all. It is the perfect hide out for those who want to get away and just catch up with family or close friends. Play board games, watch movies and enjoy the garden and the solitude this place provides. For the more adventurous, it is also very close to Wilpattu National Park for wild life enthusiasts, close to Kalpitiya for those who want to kite surf or whale/dolphin watch and Anuradhapura and the cultural triangle for those culture buffs. Thus loads to do if you want to explore! However one of the best thing about Bethany is the food! :-) From the tin kiri tea, to the prawn curry and paratas and pretty much everything done at Bethany, is done very well. Both the eastern and western food are amazing. Not a surprise being owned by total foodies! All in all this is our go to place for family and friends get aways and will be back again soon on our next trip to SL. Thanks so much to Chaminda and all the staff who looked after us so well. Azam you continue to amaze with all the detail in the garden that continues to improve every time. It is just amazing! Last but not least ask to meet the killer Bethany pack of beagles! :-) They are just a delight and if at all it will be death by eating or I should clarify over eating! :-)

Beautiful restored villa and grounds, very private and useful as a base for visiting Wilpattu. The main house has 4 rooms, which are higher standard than the 2 in the annex. Despite booking a double, our room in the annex had 3 single four-poster beds (offered to be pushed together if wanted, but it seemed troublesome). The room itself has lower ceilings than main house and is incredibly dark, despite opening the blinds and all lights on. No personal fridge or tea making facilities. Could hear conversation in the adjoining bedroom clearly. WiFi limited to public lounge only. Having said this, the staff taking care of us were amazing, full of smiles and always happy to help. The kitchen cooks Sri Lankan food very well, some of the best we’d eaten. Their western food is average and portions limited. Our takeaway lunch for dawn safari in Wilpattu was fried chicken rice, which tasted amazing, cooked fresh at 3am, but as consumption is 9 hours later, may I suggest using ice packs/cooler box to keep safe in the heat of safari? Catering was well priced. Great staff, good food but be careful to stipulate a room in the main house.

We spent 2 nights at this very comfortable, beautifully maintained hotel whilst on our family holiday in Sri Lanka. It does feel like a home rather than a hotel, every member of staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was fantastic. We used it as a base to visit Wilpattu National Park, it was wonderful to be able to use the pool after a long day. The food is outstanding, we stuck to Sri Lankan food, it was delicious. If you want to stay somewhere with a real soul, I would highly recommend here!

Stayed here for 2 nights with the family and booked the entire villa. Wonderfully maintained colonial villa with an amazing collection of antique furniture. Landscaped garden makes the pool very inviting. Chaminda and the team of staff were excellent and took good care of us. Sri Lankan food was very tasty and plentiful (didn't order any western stuff but I'm sure it would be tasty too). Puttalam itself doesn't really have much to offer but we enjoyed just relaxing at the villa and definitely will be visiting again.
