Booked Superior Room with Dinner through Secret Escapes and when we went to our room which was located round the back of the main hotel in a stable block we were very disappointed with the room. The room décor, furnishings and amenities were ok but the outlook was very poor

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us here at Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa. I am sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations and our rooms were not to your personal liking, please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. As I am sure you can appreciate, we receive a huge amount of requests daily from guests before the day of arrival for rooms that include a lake view, however this cannot always be guaranteed but we do try our very best to meet all requirements. As you have mentioned, no there is no lift in the old building, this is because we are a listed property and the 'strange arrangement' of stairs are an original feature. Again, if this a problem for guests, then we are more than happy to pre-allocate rooms in the newer part of the building that does include a lift where possible, as long as we are notified in advance. I am sorry to read that there was a slight wait for your cream tea, I will pass this feedback onto our food and beverage manager who will into the matter and take appropriate measures to prevent future occurrence. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Kind Regards, Donna Murray

We arrived for a family members 75th birthday party and it was at some considerable cost to him. We stayed over, the room was decent and spacious, the spa ok but no jacuzzi which seems to be a recurring theme but my god the food was horrendous. I left my main course it was cold,

From arrival to departure, nothing was too much trouble! Even though we had to wait Fri our room , it proved to be a winner, having just been refurbished to a high standard. Our meal in the evening was well executed and attention to detail was second to none with great service!
