I discovered Cilu Bintang while I was exploring the indonesian region of Maluku. I had no booking, I was roaming around Bandaneira looking for a good room. Once entered the Estate, I noticed that there was a unique and vibrant atmosphere. My room was big and bright, the king bed and the huge windows facing the garden were absolutely perfect, the toiled was clean and fully equipped. This property is rich in history and architecture is just awesome. I had numerous meals and all of them were exceptional, they also allowed me to cook in the restaurant kitchen. Thank you Abba for your exotic hospitality, your tours and your help.
This is a truly fabulous hotel. Attention to every detail from furnishings and design to the delicious food. Gorgeous view of the volcano from the balcony patio. Excursions available as well as cooking classes. Dinner buffets with bbq fish and local cuisine. Excellent! Several islands nearby crystal clear waters for snorkeling. Nutmeg and clove plantations. Highly recommend.
We had 5 amazing nights at Cilu Bintang and would highly recommend it to others. Mr & Mrs Aba were wonderful hosts, the rooms are large and well appointed, the hotel facilities were great, and everyone was friendly & helpful. Banda Islands have a fascinating (if not happy) history, natural beauty, and wonderful food culture.
Staying there for a weeks (Which supposedly to be 3days 4night). The owner Mr Abba is friendly enough every day to greet and meet people (either during breakfast or dinner). The wife and helpers cooks dinner every day and the food is marvelous. We don't have to worry about dinner at all. The appetizer (fish soup, was the best); The dinner is nice, and desert as well!. The view from the 2nd level (Gunung Api and Fort) was the best view.
Where to start.. Cilu Bintang and Banda islands are about the most beautiful and wonderful places I have ever visited! We tried to go there 2 years ago but at that time there was no fast ferry and no planes. Also this time, the fast ferry was cancelled, but I knew the same night there was going a Pelni so we just arrived 1 day later. When I informed Abba, the great and enthusiastic owner of Cilu Bintang that we were coming by Pelni, he immediately arranged a cabin for us, which was really comfortable. Abba and his daughter waiting for us at the quay in Banda Naira and driving on his scooter to Cilu Bintang was the start of our great time in Banda islands. First we stayed 10 days in Cilu Bintang, walking around, visiting forts and old houses, relaxing on our veranda with the view on Gunung Api and Fort Nassau, enjoying the comfort and hospitality of Cilu Bintang, talking to other, very nice guests, doing day trips to Ai, Run, Hatta, Spicetrip. Excursions are arranged by Abba, also people staying in other guesthouses were joining and he provides good boats with an excellent guide: Agil. One day I did a cooking class with Dila, Abba’s wonderful wife and best cook on Banda. Time was flying and we enjoyed every minute. Most of the evenings we also had dinner in Cilu Bintang, lovely food served on our own veranda. Then we went 9 days to Pulau Hatta, staying in a very simple hut on the beach, and after it was nice to enjoy some more comfortable days in Cilu Bintang, before we took the Pelni to Kei islands. I had very high expectations of Banda islands and for many years it was on top of my travelwishlist. In a way I was “afraid” it could only be disappointing, but Banda was even better as I could ever think of and after 6 months we are still talking nearly every day about the fantastich 3 weeks we spent on Banda islands. Thank you very much Abba and Dila for your hospitality and sharing stories on Banda islands. We are dreaming of coming back. Marjo & Trond…
